Curious as to whether there are any Spartan players here? Looking for some general insights, strats, etc. I know its not the most graphically appealling game, but it is a fun little game.

Amenhotep7 Sep 19, 2004, 05:37 PM Just look at me avatar!:D Spartan's great. Playing Grand Campaign as Sparta on "Hard" difficulty level. Preparing to eliminate the Arcadians after vanquishing the Messenians.:goodjob: So far though, hard difficulty isn't all that hard...Maybe I accidentally selected normal?:hmm: dojoboy Sep 19, 2004, 05:40 PM Great. Are there any strategies posted online? The Slitherine forum is terribly weak for specifics. Amenhotep7 Sep 19, 2004, 05:43 PM I dunno. Maybe the GameFAQ board will have something? http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/gentopic.php?board=917993 Do you need any specific help? I may be able to assist you.:) dojoboy Sep 19, 2004, 07:25 PM Thanks for the link. Right now, I've nothing specific, too early. I'll probably have some questions when I've lost 3-4 complete armies upon the walls of Athens. ;) I just like to read strats on games, and its odd that Spartan doesn't have a strong strategy site somewhere. Amenhotep7 Sep 19, 2004, 08:20 PM Losing against walls? Then why not besiege the city? dojoboy Sep 19, 2004, 10:40 PM Losing against walls? Then why not besiege the city? Well, I haven't done it yet. But, that is a good question. How does besiege work? Is there a point my armies will break themselves? Amenhotep7 Sep 20, 2004, 05:36 AM It's been a while since I've besieged a city... You see, when attacking a city with walls, it gives you a choice as to whether you wish to assault or besiege... Play the scenario on the isle of Lesbos. Won't take ya more than 20 minutes, it'll show you how to deal with walls... dojoboy Sep 20, 2004, 05:51 AM It's been a while since I've besieged a city... Won't take ya more than 20 minutes, it'll show you how to deal with walls... I've already played it and simply defeated the enemy army outside the walls. The cities fell from that, didn't have to destroy walls. I'm currently playing the Cretan Isle/Pirate scenario, on easy as well, and the enemy cities do not have walls. At least, those I've attacked so far have not. What is the difference between the difficulty levels? Is it simply how quickly the AI attacks? Amenhotep7 Sep 20, 2004, 02:32 PM The biggest difference I've recognized in difficulty levels is that certain neighbors become far more imperialistic. Like when I played on normal mode, you should have seen how much the Bithyinians conquered. And the Arcadians were pretty bad too, till I annihilated them!:king: For some reason, in Grand Campaign, no matter who I play as the Cretans start off hating me... Now I'm afraid that if I play as Crete, everyone will gang-up on me!:crazyeye: |
