This month was another interesting one for the results. Dynamic was the gold-medal winner with a 370 AD domination victory, just pipping Drazek with his second silver medal in as many months as a result of a conquest victory, also in 370 AD. Akots was only a few turns behind, securing his domination victory along with a bronze medal, in 490 AD.

Also of great interest was the first game that I can remember where the lowest score actually went to someone who won the game! kuningas achieved this by winning a 3-city-challenge with a Cultural 20k victory. Whilst he actually got the lowest Jason score, this is still a pretty-impressive effort, worthy of a mention!

Congrats to all the winners and the new eptathlon holder! :goodjob:

The top score was over 12k, the top five over 11k, the top 18 over 10k. Wow!

And kudos to Kuningas for his 3 city, AW, 20k game! (which allowed me to FINALLY get an award :))

I always thought about this award http://gotm.civfanatics.net/players/awards/redambulance.gif as the award for the last place. But no, it has to be a defeat! Did something like that have ever happen before?

I also have another question. I read somewhere, that if you get a place in the first half of the list, you are not allowed to use conquest style. Is that true? What will happen if someone does that?

Correct.

If you play conquest level again after reaching to 50% you will be banished to the dark damp dungeon under CivFanatics Towers where we keep reloaders and other reprobates, with no PC and no copy of Civ - not even the board game.

Or ... your subsequent conquest level games will be disallowed if anyone spots them.

PS. Don't forget a Conquest entry can't win an award, and it forfeits 15% of Jason score.

I thought the red ambulence was supposed to be last place, and the green one for highest-scoring loss?

The tooltip says "Lowest Scoring Defeat". The lowest score was kuningas' 20K AW cultural victory.

:aargh:
...with no PC and no copy of Civ...

:rotfl:

Then goodbye, conquest
Seriously, my problem is that I lost COTM3 playing conquest class (I guess it would be much worse than that if I play open).
So I decided to play GOTM34 and surprisingly did it well.
On another hand may be I just started to play better and I will not need conquest class anmore?... I hope.

...not even the board game...
Anyone actualy played board game?

I just notice that a few players spent more than 240 hrs on it. How is that possible? Sleeping without swithing a game off?

Leaving the game running while you sleep or work or whatever. Oftentimes, I'll start playing for a little while then leave it while I do some homework, and come back to it later.

Congratulations to the winners! Nicely done by Kuningas, too. :)
I have one question: why is domination so, hmm, dominating the top scores? Is this because it gives a better score, or because most of the top players prefer this as their victory condition?

Congratulations - awesome victory dates among the medal winners. Ronald, bradleyfeanor & SirPleb - also very impressive. eldar and I made a pretty wise decision to go for research, if I may say so...
I just notice that a few players spent more than 240 hrs on it. How is that possible? Sleeping without swithing a game off? I would probably have a time like that too if I didn't ALT-TAB the game when I go off to eat or something. I.e. I switch to another program, having grown tired of the bird/wolf/horse sounds a few years ago.

Wow, 20K in 1545!!! Impressive Bradleyfeanor!! I have just once made it before 1800... Then again, I still have a lot to learn about this game after 3 years of playing it...

Congrats to all awardwinners!

I do not know the answer. This is a guess: on easy levels, like monarch and below, domination and conquest are the fastest ways to finish the game. So (1) if you want to finish game as soon as possible you should go for that (2) your base score gets a huge bonus for earlier finish.
These two reasons, in my opinion, explain both why most of good players (though, not all, the best players want to get a stutue, so they have other priorities) go for domination/conquest and why domination/conquest wins recieve higher scores.
