 YES! Though I wish you had done the Gaucho first. Brazil is too often ignored, especially here in the middle of nowhere. Remember, Brazil had a better navy and was considered able to conquer the eastern coast of the U.S. at the turn of the 20th century. My question would be: how inaccurate would it be to use some of these units for other SA civs? They, too, are underepresented.

Straczynski

Daniel: Here's a better Pedia entry for the Cascavel... Yours has some errors...
The EE-9 Cascavel Armored Vehicle was developed by the Brazilian company Engesa in the 1960ies to replace the similar US-made M-8, in use since WWII. It is a light, small, low-cost, easy-maintenance and all-terrain fighting vehicle. Some countries, like Iraq, produced the Cascavel under license in the 198ies. In the First Gulf War, it was one of the main concerns of the American forces. Nowadays, these vehicles have been replaced for more modern ones.

Manny: How innacurate would that be? Some of the units aren't generic enough to be used as anything else, such as the Cangaceiro or the Capoeirista. Others, however, can be used by other South American civs, like Gaucho for Argentina or the Seringueiro for Uruguay... Also, the Pracinha, the Canhoneira or the Dragões look European enough to be used by European civs, too! :)

Daniel: Here's a better pedia entry for the Canhoneira and the Tucano... Nice units, as always! :D
The Canhoneiras (literally, "Cannoneers") were sailing warships used by the Brazilian forces in their Independence War against Portugal (1822-1825). The first ones were built in English shipyards and dispatched to Brazil on the final years of Colonial rule. Some weeks and months after Pedro II proclaimed the independence of Brazil, a number of regions rise up against the new government and, supported by Portugal, attacked the independentist forces, mainly in the North and Northeastern provinces and in the southern region of Cisplatina (nowadays Uruguay). The Canhoneiras were used against these Pro-Portugal forces, bombarding the shorelines and quickly transporting troops, having a essential role in the conflict. The Embraer Tucano is the result of a Brazilian project initiated in 1978 to replace the older aircrafts of the Brazilian Air Force on recon, training and light air-to-ground support. The Tucanos are built by Emraer, one of the largest aeronautics company worldwide. The Tucano's most recent versions are considered the best turboprop-driven airplanes ever build, being low-cost and having a bigger operational radius than standard prop planes. Some countries operate the Brazilian Tucanos, like Argentina, Egypt, France, Iraq, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela, while others build the Tucanos under license, such as Britain, Kuwait and Kenya.

Ares: The Canhoneiras were used mainly by Brazil and Portugal, but, since it has quite a generic paint scheme, I don't see why it shouldn't be used by other civs.

Download Dragões da Independência: http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads8/Dragoes.zip . It is my best unit until now :)

As I said on the preview thread... Wonderful job on the Dragões! :D

On the subject of if they fought in any war or not, the Dragões da Independência were probably formed only after the Independence. However, Brazilian cavalry corps on the XIXth century had uniforms very much like the Dragões', so... :)

And the French island they invaded wasn't an island: it was French Guyana. :)

And, as always, here's my version of the Pedia...
Created by Dom João VI of Portugal in 1909 as the 1st Brazilian Army Cavalry Regiment, the Dragões da Independência (literally, "Independence Dragoons") has been acting since then as the Brazilian Head of State's Honor Guard, first of the Emperors Pedro I and Pedro II, and the Presidents' since the proclamation of the Republic, in 1894.

I think it is just clothes, not armor, well, this kind of clothes that they uses in day by day to protected the president is just symbolic, the real clothes that they used in the case of a war is different and I think it is very similar of the currently soldier :)

Yes, he 'pops' right to the defense stance. That may just be the preview, but that probably is wrong.

Also, the attack is better than your previous pole armed units, but he seems to move the weapon in a circle after thrusting and before withdrawing. Shouldn't he pull straight back?

Yes, he 'pops' right to the defense stance. That may just be the preview, but that probably is wrong.

Also, the attack is better than your previous pole armed units, but he seems to move the weapon in a circle after thrusting and before withdrawing. Shouldn't he pull straight back?

We have to remember the fortify is always the first frames of the attack animation ;) Well, he attacks and come back, when he comes back he moves a little the pike to the left, um, I can fix it in a future version ;)
