We need to start coming up with a goal after Chivarly, my preference is economics, mainly for the banks and Smiths Trading Center, both of which can help our economy and science production.

this is a good path but not when at war. i will post a discussion about which of the major 2 branches we should go on (theology, invention)

Moving towards invention/gunpowder will not help us any. Researching and acquiring gunpowder and musketeers will only make it harder for our samurai to capture cities, and will only make it sooner that there obsolete.

We must make the longest age of samarai possible.

Actually no. The AI researching it would make our Samurai obsolete faster. Us researching would just strengthen our defensive capabilities.

First get Democracy, and then fast route to Chivalry. Democracy 'rocks' in research :king:
We should make 1st trade priority Invention (so we can build Leonardo's) and because we're not going to research it ourselves.

You do know how wrong your thinking is? Each time a technology is researched, the total time of researching it drops for everyone else. So essentially, researching it ourselves would only make it easier and faster for the AI.

My thinking is far from being regarded as wrong. If we DON'T research and everyone else does, where does that leave us?

I'm not saying not to research, so don't even think about twisting my words around. I want to research up the theology path, towards economics/democracy.

Samurai to Rockets... Bold. :)

Anyway, we now have Chivalry. What should we research next? We also have a potential contact next turn (provided our galley doesn't sink). That means contact trade possibilities, and possibly tech trades. It's possible that we could have a quick-turnchat to see if we can get contact. This means that we need at least 1 turn of research.

I suggest going up the Cavalry path.

As the Republic hasn't even been mentioned in this thread, I was wondering why we are now researching it? How many flasks did we spend on it when it was selected? Can we get this ironed out?

We have waisted no beakers. This was just put on as we just discovered Chivalry. It will be changed to whatever we have decided.

So you're sure maintenance for a turn wasn't used when the President opted for the Republic? I'm going to have to double check on that. :)

I just double checked it, and no research has been put into The Republic.

It does seem like that you have you have a vendetta against the President with that statement. I was at the TC and we finished the chat after we had discovered Chivalry the chat was ended, as per this ministiries instructions, which I am not too happy about that. We could have already decided what to discover and we could have found out what the Germans have to offer and this could be our major discussion, rather than wasteing one turn.

Regards, your Trade Deputy, Classical Hero.

You're just angling for another reason to PI me, aren't you? Personally, I'm getting tired of your conspiracy theories.

May I suggest another poll on what to research next? Due to our Golden Age, we'll research Engineering next turnchat (3 turns if the science slider is increased even more).
