Osgiliath: worker, cavalry
when the worker finishes, MM for maximum shields
try to acheive WLTQD by using a specialist

Sto'vo'kor: library, worker, university
switch two coasts to grassland by river
try to MM for maximum shields

Windurst: library, cathedral

Pete: cathedral, library
switch desert to coast
when Pete reaches size 12, switch flood plain to another tile (probably grassland)

Bentropolis: cavalry, cavalry

Kagemusha: courthouse
use the flood plain once Pete doesn't need it

Grumpypuss: harbor, courthouse

Swazi: wealth
keep it growing so it will reach size 3
if the Zulu laborer assimilates, produce workers

Suggested worker actions:
mine desert, grassland, and hill near Osgiliath
mine grassland and chop jungle near Sto'vo'kor (please don't irrigate the desert, I would rather irrigate the flood plains and mine the desert)
mine grassland and chop jungle near Windurst
mine grassland and hills near Pete
mine hills and grassland near Bentropolis
connect Kagemusha and Grumpypuss by roads
irrigate near Kagemusha

New cities should start production on a courthouse, military unit, or temple, up to the DP's discretion (it doesn't really matter because it won't finish this turnchat anyways)

I'm looking for input on the name Kitakinu Province. It's based off the Japanese words for north and silk. If the website I found these translations from is wrong, or you think the name sounds stupid, or if you like the name, feel free to provide your input.

For some reason Kitakinu doesn't roll off of the tongue right, I want to add a k in it and make it Kitankinku. Actually both don't roll off my tongue right. Why not just name the province TimBentleyville?

Actually, I'm pretty sure north is "Hok."
I found four Japanese words for north, and one for northern. Hoku was one of the words north was translated into by a English-to-Japanese dictionary, so close enough to Hok.

Chieftess
Oct 02, 2004, 08:06 AM
"Hok" isn't a word. However, if you want to tack it onto another word (make sure the kanji is the same on-reading (kun-reading is Japanese, on-reading is Chinese IIRC). For example, "Hokkaido". It has the "2nd k", which is actually a constinant extension in Japanese.

北 - "Hoku" - North
海 - "Kai" - Sea/Ocean
道 - "Dou" - path

Hokkaido = "Passage to the Northern Sea".

Hoku and Kai become "Hokkai". Reason? The "u" in "ku" is whispered. So, if you have "hok", you need a word begining with "ku".

(Notice that I was using the on-reading for the above three kanji readings. The kun readings would be: Kita, Umi, and Michi, respectively).

Osgiliath: cathedral, library, barracks
switch floodplain to hill

Sto'vo'kor: courthouse, market, harbor
switch grassland to desert

Windurst: courthouse, aqueduct

Pete: courthouse, marketplace
switch coast and unroaded grassland to deserts

Bentropolis: courthouse, barracks

Suggested worker actions:
mine a couple of hills near Osgiliath

If Swazi flips, have it produce workers, with no specialists.

Since I'll be gone this weekend, blackheart will take command for the coming turnchat. Feel free to change the queues if you desire. Note that I'm trying to maximize production since we are in the golden age. I'm also slowing growth to avoid riots. Sto'vo'kor will need a garrison or a specialist to avoid a riot next turn. You may want to discuss it with the military minister.

Since I am at a lost to what is currently happening with the province (I have no access to Civ3 at this time), and since Governor TimBentley has left no indications of what to be built, I have decided to continue his ques.

Osgiliath: cathedral, library, barracks, pikeman

Sto'vo'kor: courthouse, market, harbor, pikeman

Windurst: courthouse, aqueduct, pikeman

Pete: courthouse, marketplace, pikeman

(If you can help me with what is currently being built in these cities and what is planned, please PM or tell me)

The provincial status and tentative queues have been updated. Here are the queues:

Osgiliath: barracks, university
switch forest to flood plain
after two turns (when the barracks completes), switch the flood plain back to the forest

Sto'vo'kor: market, harbor, cathedral

Windurst: aqueduct, marketplace
switch coast to jungle silks
when the aqueduct completes, reapportion the laborers

Pete: courthouse, marketplace, cathedral
switch flood plain to desert
after one turn (when courthouse completes), switch desert back to flood plain

Bentropolis: courthouse, worker, barracks, pikeman

Viroconium: temple, courthouse
switch desert to flood plain
after one turn, switch flood plain to taxman or scientist (allowing Pete to use the flood plain)

Suggested worker actions:
mine a couple of hills near Osgiliath
mine grassland near Sto'vo'kor (please don't irrigate the desert, I would rather irrigate the flood plains and mine the desert)
mine grassland and chop jungle near Windurst
mine grassland and hills near Pete
mine hills and grassland near Bentropolis
connect Viroconium with roads

New cities should start production on a courthouse, pikeman, or temple, up to the DP's discretion (it doesn't really matter because it won't finish this turnchat anyways)

If Swazi flips, have it produce workers, with no specialists.

Comment is welcome, as always. If anyone knows the date when Viroconium was founded, please tell me. The founding dates are all messed up in PTW.

A new mayorship is available in Viroconium (if you don't mind the desert). I would suggest looking for a different city for a mayor position first (such as Windurst).

Governor Bentley,

I have here submitted my request for Gubernatorial Endorcement of new Provincial Borders.

I am proceeding with my plan specified in Post 11 in the Term 3 Provincial Congress. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=2233598&postcount=11)

The Specific item I need your consent on is the new Northern Border of Kitakinu, and the Division of the "Northern Territories" Beyond into two Sectors (Parisian and Zulu). As you can see, at present we have no cities in these "Northern Sectors". This is merely to provide Territorial boundaries "in advance of Settlement" as requested by Article O.

I thank the Governor for his consideration.

Windurst: marketplace, cathedral

Pete: marketplace, harbor, cathedral

Bentropolis: samurai, samurai

As of now, This poll (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=102910) shows a great sentiment towards colonizing the other continent, and a middling sentiment in intervening in the Sino-German War if at all possible.

Therefore, I would like the Governor to consider possible contributions to any overseas plans, as this would be the TC in which we would "build" the "Expeditionary force".

"Governor Tim Bentley of Bentropolis, we have issues with the access to food from our desolate land we inherited from the Romans. Well being the Muad Dib of the Fremen in Kagemusha is not an easy task, there is no natural resources, not even spice. So we have one minor request, which we consider fair. We want the City of Pete to cede away the foodplain by the river to Kagemusha, so Kagemusha can grow. We also want
an irrigation plan as specified in our land development plan, and then some mines, roads and a couple of fortresses."

"We also do have a request for building city improvements in Kagemusha, we need a barrack and city walls, courthouse and a marketplace."

"We will ride back when time comes in order to make more requests, Sir Governor"

TimBentley
Oct 25, 2004, 08:44 PM
I have considered your request and will start implementing it. I will ask for irrigation near Kagemusha and start construction on a courthouse. Meanwhile the income from the city will be doubled (whether it will go to science or taxes, I do not know). Kagemusha is too corrupt to make use of the flood plain at the moment; I will reconsider for the next turnchat.

Governor Tim Bentley

I have an urgent need for Courthouse in Kagemusha, and will ask for a rush buy for court house as soon as possible, in order to bolster our French border. This should be rushed when Kagemusha reaches three citizens in two turns. Secondary I want to build a barracks for our Northern Military Headquarter, where I am going to disband 2 warriors, a swordsman and a horseman next turnchat. After the barracks we should line up some city walls, as this is a border town.

Chieftess, which sometimes have great ideas, is wrong here in my opinion.
We need to bolster our French border which now has paper thin border cities and a lack of both military personnel and infrastructure. Given Chieftess interest in being a Governor in the South, I understand her. But as the MSAV minister, I see a larger challenge in the North. we need garrison cities that has substantial production and military infrastructure.
Thanks to being in the middle of the desert, this will never be a wonder city, but is a needed garrison city on a more challenging border. Iroqouis is now gone, but the North
is still neglected. All we need is the courthouse and some basic infrastructure, and then Kagemusha cover its needs. Grumpypuss would be the next city to be developed on the French border. Do not let Southern local patriot interests obstruct national security concerns. We need that Northern border strong.
