Alright, If you want a fast game with lots of civs with that involves a lot of trading, then this is the one for you.
"Twelve Nations" is a large map with 12 identical small islands.
Each has room for 3 to 5 cities. On each island there are 2 strategic and 2 luxury resources. Therefore you are missing 6 of each kind witch the other civs have.
Trade is a must, and expect major navel battles.
Tip: Go for map making as fast as possible.
I will try to post an image, but i am not quite sure how.
Anyone can feel free to do so for me, or post a good way to do so.
Thanks. Lord Oden

Nice idea, but the island is too small. After a while, im just skipping all my turns because there is nothing to do. Also, I can't get communications with other civs so I can't trade.....
Anyways, maybe you should group the islands in pairs close enough to allow gallery to cross so 2 civs can start trading right in the beginning.

I did have reasons for the map design.
I made the islands far enough apart so that who ever built the great lighthouse or great library would have an advantage.
Therefor it would have a different play style than the standard expansionist style. Once all the civs discover astronomy then tradeing will explode.
The islands small so that the game would be very fast.
One could finish it in less than 4 hours.
I found that there are times where there is nothing to build so I would have my cities work on palaces until the next wonder was ready for construction.
Mainly this map was created to try out some ideas and become more experenced with the way other civs trade with out too much interferince with a larger game.
The only problem I dont like with Islands being close is that the other civ will get pissed off and try to start a war very early over nothing, so the distance solves that for a while.
Feel free to change anything you dont like about it, or if this gives you an Idea for a better map feel free to post it.
I would love to try a similar, but different map.

i agree with blitz. the islands could do with being a bit bigger.
i will probably make some changes in the near future and post the new map up here.
overall it is a very good idea.
having to trade with or invade other islands is a great idea. it makes you dependent on one civ in order to attack another, for example if you need iron from the germans to build knights to attack the french.:vomit:

interesting idea....However, I have found that the last thing the AI builds is a harbor. So trade is impossible. In my current game it is 1350 AD, I control Africa and the British are in North America. And I can't trade with them because the wont build a harbor. They have had the tech for a 1000 years but they wont use it!
I dont need anything from them but I like to sell off my extra lux for spending money.
So you would be forced to do landing assaults! Which suck until the era of flight but since you dont have the right recourses....

Naaaa, I don't like small-island maps.
