OK, guys. Here we go. I plan to edit this thread with the turn order above changing. Always check this first post.

What I am going to do is ask everyone to subscribe to the thread, so that you know when something is going on. The biggest danger with these types of games is lack of communication, and people not realizing there turn. Questions? Issues? E-mail at lkendter@speakeasy.net

I ask that each player submit a turn summary like the next post below. Make sure to attach your game as a zip file.

4000 BC - Our people decide to build the city of Athens. The Greek Civilaztion is on board. Scientific and Commercial. I love those cheap libraries. Free tech isn't bad either. You have a good chance to jump ahead in the middle ages. Great for tech trader. First time for me with a Mediterranean culture. We wonder what shall happen. We have the potential for a KILLER wonder city.

3950 BC - Our sages begin my standard of Masony. Always like the option for the Pyramids. Our worker begins the first road.

3750 Our first warrior comes out of school. Lets start looking.

3400 :) :) :) We find a tribe. They become a settler and want to join us. This is good news. Though I am starting to get a suspicion this happens with a crap starting location.

3350 - The new settler forms Sparta. This will not be a large city until electricty. However, I can't resist the chance to lock 2 ivory.
HINT - This city builds barracks, and start building Hoplites!

3300 - Oh no, Mr. Bill. We see another city border.

3150 - First contact - Rome. 20 dollars and Bronze working gets us Warrior Code. Tech trading begins.

3050 - We slip to the south of Rome for a tribe, to get a map :(

Goals - Warrior south of Rome - slid behind Rome before border lock. Warrior north of Sparta - explore. The warrior to the southwest of is sitting on city site #3. Great city, wheat & cows. This is our future worker / settler factory. Concentrate the around Athens.
Don't bother killing Rome yet. You know then will respawn.

ATHENS - SUPER WONDER city. I see the potential for a 20000 culture city. I believe it can be done. I have Babylon at 1470 ad with 8598 culture and 81 points a turn. And I should be first to Universal sufferage. The setup of Athens is almost identical, except no river

Ohwell, have fun. I want city #3 in Tundra (still 2 food, $1, 1 shield) to keep away from Athens. Super culture city is the ultimate challenge!

The Reign of The Lord of Hammers has Begun!

3000 BC- Our Athenians are nearly finished building a settler, a new one is being made. Our nomads are heading towards a tundra spot, very cold. Our workers are finishing a road to Sparta, which has ivory.

2950 BC- Our workers are almost finished with the Spartan road.

2900 BC- We have discovered a new large area of land with our warriors!

2850 BC- Sparta finishes its warriors, they are garrisoned.

2800 BC- The Great road is finished!

2750 BC- A Barbaric tribe gave us their maps, and a great city by the name of Thermopylae was founded!

2710 BC- Our warriors are trapped near Rome, Rome settled a city by the name of Veii. Hmm, what does that mean?

2670 BC- Rome asks us for a loan? I, Great Lord of Greece, steadfastly refused.

2630 BC- Road to the Ivory is Finished, our people are baffled by the wondefulness of it!

2590 BC- Secret talks within our High Commans suggest we are on a small island, and Rome will have to be eliminated quickly.

2550 BC- Nothing, Really!

2510 BC- The Barbarians attack Thermopylae, to no avail.

2470 BC- More barbarians scare our people, but no one was hurt.

2430 BC- Sparta finishes its elite unit, our prized hoplite! Masonry, the building of stone, is researched. Our new goal is Iron, a shiny rock that could be useful. Sparta is training new workers.

2390 BC- Looks like it is a small isle, a very mountainous and chilly isle.

2350 BC- Thermopylae finishes hoplite, and is building setlers.

2270 BC- Sparta builds workers, Rome offered 100 gold for masonry, we accepted.

2230 BC- Great Road to Rome begins

2190- The Lord of the Hammers has aged, and offers his apprentice, Cornmaster, leadership of Greece. He accepts

CornMaster - You are up next. Good luck. I agree with Ohwell, Iceworld. Aren't total random settings fun

Good exploring job, Ohwell. :goodjob:

Suggestion. I don't know how the warrior near Rome got fortified. May have been my bad. Try moving NE, N, NW, N. Slip past Rome. I see a hint of land above Veii. Try and slip a warrior beyond. I have see 1 square spaces that open wide up again. I would hate for use to miss a big block of land. I have before, and it isn't fun. Looks like we need one more warrior to explore north.

Finished my turns. Land above Veil and Rome. Have warriors above both. And a settler along the way. Built two more cities, got a tech from a hut and a warrior. Stired up some barbs on the last tur though. :(

Divided the Roman cities with one city, and building that city above Veil will REALLY hurt their expansion. Have an archer near Roman Cutoff as an escort. Also sacked a few barb villages.

Anyway....Good luck!!

Man the ice area to Southwest of Thermopylae is large. :p Still don't know about the hill to the south of Ice World. It may get back to me without that area explored. Only tempting spot is that area is the Ivory with double forest. Mostly to keep someone from getting it.

The challenge for FlubberDubs. Slide a settle past Veii before we get border locked.

And :goodjob: to CornMaster. It was well worth slipping past Rome. Contact with the English. That never hurts. Of course, I don't know how hostile England is the our Culture group. I know he hates the Middle east group.

GL to the northern Warrior. First look is always good.

Ohwell
Nov 27, 2001, 09:01 PM
He found the English? Hows the climate up there:lol: . Seroiusly, the first couple of eras we are going to have to kick some ass if we are going to survive, I mean, we are surrounded by ice! Hopefully that jungle area above Veii can be settled before anyone else, at least some grasslands and rescourses

-Took out those 4 barbs and the leader guarding a petence of 25 gold.

-Started 3 towns of Delphi, Pharsalos, Knossos.

-Locking them out of the North was of no use, threatened their warrior scum and Settler upon them entering our territory, but they essentially ignored me and walked past. Should have declared war and took them out.

-Ventured to the south; it's all there for us, just a few Barbs! We are in a position to setup another 10+ cities!

-We have 4 more luxuries as soon as we can get workers to build roads to them.

-We need to breed settlers like rabbits in order to win this land grab, we are in a very strong position.

-Currently sitting well in first place

-Gonna want to start some temple to give our people someplace to worship.

-Making a direct shot to Republic

I am new to this game (Civ 3 was my first) so I hope the cities are ok, I attempted to block off the north but they shrugged it off, we can assimulate any cities up there later. Two settlers of ours are wondering south, you decide Nanook whether to settle them SW by the Iron, or South to the Peninsula. Good luck Brave Nanook!

The Romans are definetly inpidiments to our expansion, may I suggest a holy war? They are expanding quite rapidly I see, for a non expansionist civ anyway.... If we cannot win Culturally we can win by domination.

The great Polar Bear stirs from his slumber and assumes command of his charges. He shall continue their march to greatness.

950 BC: Our warriors made contact with a backward tribe that had knowledge of Mysticism. The foolish barbarians had no idea of the value of this discovery, and I was able to get it from them for a few beads.

925 BC: Some barbarians were discovered standing guard over iron to the south of our great nation. Our warriors quickly dispersed them, and ransacked the town for 25 gold pieces.

825 BC: Sold the Roman heathens contact with the English for 40 gold. Suckers. Sold knowledge of the Wheel to the English for 30 gold. Founder the city of Argos on an iron rich hillside, with yet more iron easily accessible just to the east of it.

800 BC: One of our southernly deployed warrior units dispersed yet more barbians, gaining valuable experience in the process(veteran status). Our scientists completed work on an interesting discovery by the name of Philosophy.

730 BC: Mycanae founded next to a herd of wild horses. There was also a barbarian encampment in the area, which was ransacked to the tune of 25 gold and yet more experience for our warriors(elite). The Romans complained about our troops passing Veil, so we agreed to a temporary Right of Passageagreement.

670 BC: Herakleia founded near a herd of game. One of our warrior units was fortified there to temporarily protect against barbarian invasion.

590 BC: Another barbarian camp sacked for 25 gold in the south. As our settlers were heading to the north to add another city to our glorious empire yet another encampment was discovered and the settlers had to change paths. Will have to send a unit up to clear them out.

510 BC: One of our warrior units stirred up a nest of barbarians to the west. Our elite warriors should be able to dispatch them without any problems, time will tell. Dispatched our northern elite warriors to disperse the barbarians in the northwest, our settler is on hold there waiting for the muscle to arrive.

The great white bear now retires to his long hibernation again, knowing the command of his nation will be in good hands.

Begin Old Post

After looking at the game I recommend building a city on or next to the southern Iron. Linking it to road (duh. ;)) but not attacking the Romans. Make them attack us. Their attacks will fail and then one of two things will happen, 1) Our counter attack sends them back to the stone age, or 2) Our culture overwhelms them and we take the cities peacefully.

But we definatally have room to the north and the south!!! Very good shape indede!!!

End Old Post

The above was posted before the last updated game. I looked at this one and noticed the Romans slipped BEHIND our cities!!! And now have a foothold on the Northern most tip of the island. Not good news. I also see that they expanded north toward the English. I hope our warriors retreat wasn't willing!!

I'm impressed with the cities we have, but disapointed with the lack of roads. We have 3 or 4 sources of Iron that should be ours!!! But there is just no road to it!!

But the most startling news of all is that we have NO CULTURE!!! We have no temples!!! With out culture our cities can't grow, and we run the risk of losing cities to Roman Culture!! We must remead this ASAP!!

But it's your game to play. ;)

Hehhehehe I did exactly that in 825 BC. There's a worker creating a road connecting it and the iron next to it to Athens as well. The main road should be done in a couple turns, and the secondary road to the other iron shortly thereafter.

Yes, but I deem it highly unlikely that they will do that at the rate their going. I was thinking about attacking them, but nows not the time. We want to exploit them as much as possible, then after assimilating most of their cities, attack them. Not now.

LKendter
Nov 28, 2001, 12:14 PM
And he was worried, for they asked him back. It's seems like not that long ago, when they threw him out of office.

510 BC - (did a little more work) we trade Iron Working to the English for $24 and Territory map. We get a better clue what England looks like. England is also in Ice World - At least everyone is suffering ;) Rome is broke and tech poor. No trading there, however they are weak.

Then we realize why we have come back. Greek has no culture at all :(

Then we get the bad news, no Pyramids this game. The Iroquois built it. I am starting to find, I place a higher value then most based on these succession games. Sparta was too small of a city to build it.

490 BC - We form Ephesus, and pray. A naked city near Barbarians?

470 BC - Our sages start literature. We hope that Sparta can switch to the Great Library

450 BC - And it is good, for Rome kills the Barbarian camp. We trade Code of Laws + 54, and finally get Mapmaking.

370 BC - We kill a Barbarian camp south of Argos.

270 BC - Disaster strikes. The Oracle is built, and NOTHING of worth to change to. 91 shields flushed for a temple. We search for tech to solve this, but nothing. However, we sell Rome Mysticism for $30 and World Map. We revoke the right of passage, but to late. For Ravenna is formed behind our lines.

250 BC - He have Iron. Plenty of Iron.

230 BC - Roman Cutoff (with Barracks) starts a swordsman. For we know Rome must die.
:enlighten HINT: Turn this into a swordsman factory. There is very little good land, and Roman cities own 3 of the spots.:enlighten

190 BC. We kill another Barbarian camp near Argos.

130 BC - We trade with the English. We give them Philosophy for Horseback riding and $5. Sparta begins the Great Library. Let us hope 33 turns isn't to long. With our lack of Culture, it is worth it just for the 6 culture points.

Last turn, and it is good. For we have gone from 2 culture per turn, to 10 per turn. Still hurting in that department, but improved.

Problems - A Roman Phalanx is blocking build a road to Mycenae / Heraklia.

Goals - Watch Rome and connecting to Iron. I don't want to face Legionaries. I have warriors positioned to watch both. Keep building Swordsman for the future Roman war.

I have workers to build a road from Pharlos to Knossos, Roman Cutoff to Delphi (then the Gems). Improving Thermopylae / Athens. Setup Athens to be a strong size 6-production city. Don't bother with clearing jungle until road net is built.

Up next - Ohwell.

Since Lord of Hammers long ago death, many Greeks felt he was still alive, and dug him up to try some Roman revival tactics( )
on him. Sure enough, he was alive and well, and Lkendter was overthrown. And so continues the Great Lords Reign in 70 BC!

10 BC- Many legions of swordsmen were trained and sent to Roman Cutoff to prepare for our holy war against the unworthy Romans.

10 AD- Our hardened workers have completed roads to shiny stones our people like. They are very happy with the empire!

110 AD- After tense negotiations with the unworthy Romans, they have taught us about a land called America, and we have contacted them. They traded the secret of horseback riding and mathematics for literature and philosophy! Our civilizatoin will benefit greatly from this exchange.

260 AD- America has put an embassy in our capital, and Thessalonica was settled to the south of our empire, in the coldlands. Though it lacks rescources, our oracles tell us it may have some we will need in the far off future.

270 AD- Rhodes was founded! It is on an unexplored island to the west. It seems to be a jungle paradise. The Great Lord, though doing a great job, is tooken away from his UNGUARDED Palace and Killed. Cornmaster, Chief of the Greek Army, assumes dictatorship.

- Nanook- Exellent Job of expanding! also to Cornmaster, that Cutoff was an exellent idea, it should be the staging area for the upcoming war.

-Keep the warriors near Thermopylae fortified, they prevent roman expansion to the southeast.

- There is a settler en route to a northern jungle square. Settle it, and cut down the rainforest ariund it. It will be an exellent Naval Base, as it has some mountains too!

- Thessalonica was founded to get future oil before rome settled it, and plus, better us than anyone else having it.

- Try building lots more swordsmen, and put them in the Cutoff.
-Good luck Cornmaster!

CornMaster

Did a few trades with English and Iroquos. Had to build temple instead of Great Library!!! Oh well. I think I'm going to attack the Romans.

Holy Crap. Took 7 Swordsman and attacked Veil. It was VERY heavly fortified. Lost several men, but the victory was worth it. Not only did we capture another city, get a new source of Iron, but we also captured 5 Roman workers, and stopped them from getting Iron...that would enable them to build legions!!!!

There was a HUGE barbarian uprising to our south. It's doubtful our city will survive. Do to my hostile actions toward the Romans, they have invaded our homeland, but all operations to push them back have worked, and we have them at bay.

Attempting to make peace....but they don't want to talk. ;)

Repelled first Barb invasion as well as captured a Roman settler, giving us another 2 Roman Workers! Also defeated some archers that attacked our North defensive line.

Repelled second barb invasion and now have another Elite Hopitle. Took out another Roman Archer, put a swordsman on our 3 workers to defend them. Roman are moving another settler into out territory, will intercept and capture it. :D

Lost a noble swordsman to Roman bastards! Defeated one archer and upgraded to Elite, but with 2 HPs left, was defeated in the next attack. Used archer to overtake settler and get two warriors. That make 9 captured Roman Workers. Good...they can help rebuild our pillaged roads. ;)

Built a new city on the Island with Rhodes. Pushing the Romans off. Not going to make peace yet...have two cities lined up to capture. :D And I'm only on my 10th turn. :D

Our switch to Republic was VERY rocky. Our huge army will cost much money to support, taking away from our science. Also, Romans have intruded into our land.

And I don't think I have enough units to repel them all. The 5 turns of Anarchy set bach production of my three swordsman.

We have just entered our Golden Age and repeled a suprise attack on our Island cities. Three turns to go. Hoping to finish off the Romans inside our borders. I recommend peace with them though. As we are now a Republic....

Conducted a trade with the Zulu. Gave The Republic for Currency, Construction, Contact with Germans, Aztecs, 18 Gold, and a map of their territory. What a catch. :D

On my final turn I've secured peace with the Romans. Defeating many of their warriors, capturing 2 cities and 9 workers. Now we can destroy the remaining barbarian encampments as we push forward in a new era of peace! Just incase, I have several units posted on the Greek/Roman border, to help "escort" our new friends out of our territory. Several workers are building a road to our southern cities.

Well...that was fun!! Who's up next?

CornMaster :goodjob: You stopped my worry. Rome with Iron and there special Legions. We can know build onto the souther Penisulla. "I captured 5 Roman workers" :) :)

Next up - MOVE the worker next to Thessalonica! I lost too many workers to Barbs. Expand the Rhodes Island. I don't want the Zulu to land there :(

War will come again with Rome. Next target - Ravenna, and get rid of the junk behind our lines.

Ohwell
Nov 28, 2001, 11:39 PM
Ah, it is good to see Romes ass kicked:D Now that the control of the continent is good, we should think about the Rhodes island, and wonders, as its going to be hard to get cultural victory after not getting Colussus AND the Great Library. The ZUlu will get the Rhodes island though, we can assimilate them quicker than their impi will die! And I thought we were losing.

I didn't expand to the island any further, as I really hate 1/1 cities.

Aye, the wine and time is wearing on this Northerner so he will keep it short. Long day ahead and must pass my reign on before tis too late.

Killed a couple dirty barbs and stole 25 gold.

Tried trading for tech but alas I sense we are leading in tech as no-one has anything to offer us but Monarchy. Traded for it, world map + 20 gold, tis worthless but knowledge is power!

Am working on clearing some jungle, disease is striking and our people need food. I would continue using the 5 northern workers to clear that jungle to allow cities to prosper.

Have to threaten the Romans several times to get them to back out of our territory, brave fools they are. Now blocked in and held to just their borders.

Alas, I could only play 15 passings as I have dranken of our wines and must sleep. This shall free up the next day for our brave leaders to prosper. I retire and leave my reign to Nanook.

Quick post cuz its late and I'm tired. BIG time money crunch, forced to switch some cities from cultural improvements to marketplaces, disband some warriors, and drop science to 10% to stay out of the red. Traded engineering for feudalism and some amount of gold per turn. Then disaster :( Lighthouse and Colossus built(not the disaster). 4 turns from completion Hanging Gardens built in Tenochtilan :(:( (A size ten city btw, seriously kicking the ass of anything we have). Switched temporarily to Sun Tzu's, but likely will turn out being a complete waste of shields since every single other civ is also attempting to build it. Killed one of the annoyance barbs off our cost with the galley.

I just want to add that this is REALLY not looking good. At this rate our best bet for victory is to play the tech broker and try and finagle either a UN or space race victory. I have a bad feeling that space won't happen, meaning we should be thinking diplo all the way. I also want to add that this is by far the WORST map I've ever played on. Nice into to sucession eh? Lee came back, and looked over the empire. Ravenna is ours, and no more Romans behind our lines. We look over our glorious empire, and stop the mines near Mycenae. It would starve down to a size one, and just not worth it.

Greece is poor for the moment, but a glorious plan is decided. We shall become the trader of Gems and Ivory. Everything is planned for that direction. Greece already has 4 ivory and 2 gems.

900 AD – We begin the plan for the two goals of Greece. The end of Rome, and luxury / resource trader.

930 AD –We spot Eretia building a granary? Since it is maxed out, we change to temple.

940 AD – Someone else is on the Rhodes Island. Didn’t catch who flashed by. Think it was the Aztecs. ARGGGG! Missed granary under construction in Eretria. Money down the drain, as a granary serves no purpose with a city not growing.

970 AD – We finally have horses! The Aztecs land, and we beat them to build Halicarnassus for Gems by just one turn!

980 AD – One iron sources fizzle. All the more reason to head to Rome.

The harbor is built. Time to take advantage of the beauty of Trade. Massive trading of luxuries, and then some tech as we went ahead of some Civs! Netting us Theology, Invention, Chivalry, a lot of bucks a turn, and some cash. I can’t even supply all of the luxuries desire. [b] As soon as a luxury comes on line – trade it!

Of course, America is broke. Seems to always happens in this game. We take anything we can get. Zululand is block out until Navigation.

990 AD- More gems come on-line. Get a few bucks out of Germany. Next up – The Iroquois.

1030 – War. Rome falls the first turn. 6 workers captured. That should help big time with the terrible terrain to clear. Make that 8 workers. We find and archer and settler just behind Rome.

1040 – 2 more workers.

1050 – Cumae falls, and another worker.

1060 – The killer Phalnax on a hill. We lose 3 swordsman, just to get 2 workers :(

1070 – Pisae falls, but costs us 3 swordsman.

1090 – Antium falls.

Goals – Keep taking advantage of our MONOPOLY on Gems and Ivory :) Negotiate and new deal and try to get more out of Gems and Ivory. Try to get something out of the Iroqoius and America.

Kill the Romans. Troops are starting to collect by Pompeii.

We need more culture.

Get navigation to allow ocean level trading with the Zulus. DON’T upgrade to pikeman. Hoplites defend just as well.

IGNORE the Aztec warrior and Settler. I don’t want to risk war, to get him to leave.

If 20 turns is to much, you may cut back at this point to 10.

After his recent dissaperence, Lord of Hammers has resurfaced, to take control of Greece!

1110- Pompeii captured! We see but only Hispalis is left of the Roman Empire. The Aztecs declared war on the Zulu!

1130- Hispalis tooken! Rome should be gone, but their not!

1140- Roman Cuttoff was renamed to Lord Hammer City! Oh, its great to be king:king: .

1160- The last Roman City is found, but on a far away island. We make peace, as our people are weary of the war. They will be unable to attack us ever again.

1200- Lord of Hammers wife catches him in bed with the intern! His wife is successful in exiling him to Zululand, and give the crown to..(whoever is next).

- Didnt trade the luxuries yet, someone please do it.

- The english built Sun Tsu's War Acadamey, dammit! We will not get a culture win.

-Watch out, the zulu have a settler on our home continent. Put a unit on all the non-tooken squares!

- Start doing only ten turns from now on, its getting longer.

Well we do have our work cut out for us, our cities stink! Oh well, not much to do but started catching up on your infrastructure, going Temple, Library, Marketplace, Cathedral etc. Maybe right to Marketplace would be better considering our economy.

1220 - Got beat to Leonardo's Workshop and had to switch to Cathedral.

1265 - Got education, then researching a direct shot to Democracy

1290 - Got Music Theory and Astronomy with the Aztechs for Ivory and 310 gold.

Other than that, not much, workers still working, building infrastructure. We are doing ok because we have the most land! This is always important! Good luck!

Nothing much to report. Traded for Printing Press, discovered Banking and started on Democracy. Made some deals to export luxuries, as well as some deals to import some. Lowered the tax rate in order to increase science signifigantly while still gaining gold per turn. Built quite a few city improvements here and there.

Lee comes back. The Greek economy is much stronger :) We switch to Economics to try and get Smith's Trading company. I change from mines to forest by Thessalonica.

Our big worry - Aztecs. Stronger then us in culture, score, and maybe power.

Summary -
20 turns on building, trading (gaining several techs for luxuries). I am working on 5+ banks to set up for Wall Street. Everything is about building economy. DON'T trade economics. Smith's trading company in progress. Build more units. Miltary tradition on its way. Build up cash so that we can upgrade to Calvary. We now have all musketmen except the island.

Who set the frelling workers on automate! Way to many useless upgrades being built ARGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Does anyone know a way to permantly shut of auto workers?

FlubberDubs
Dec 03, 2001, 09:10 PM
I set the workers on automate. I shift (A) because frankly I wouldn't enjoy the game if I had to control 30 workers. They do upgrade alright, but yes they don't necessarily do the most important stuff first. To take them off you have to right click on each of them.

It feels like just a few years ago it was my turn to lead. Oh yeah it was just a few turns ago ;) Made some deals for luxuries, traded for Free Artistry and then sold it to all other Civs. Noticed someone else had discovered Economics so I sold that off as well. Discovered Military Tradition and upgraded all Knights to Cavalry. Threatened the English city of Liverpool with 8 Cavs, and they offered up tribute of 10 gold/turn in exchange for continued peace. Continued building civic buildings in the various cities, and developed a bunch of terrain.

The republic thrived from 1610 through 1655. Our cities concentrated on building universities so our young people can study the sciences in the tradition of their father before them. The republic is also in the process of enhancing its fiscal position. The treasury continues to grow under the tuteledge of Adam Smith who is building an office on Wall street. This is good as the end of this period saw the expiration of two lucrative trade deals: Greece no longer imports spice from America nor silk from Germany. Herr Bismark wanted over 700 gold plus other things that the current leaders were not willing to part with. Old Abe wanted the newly discovered Greek secrets of magnatism and other odds and ends but this was unacceptable. Our supply of iron near Rome is gone.

The Aztecs have built Shakespeares Theatre.:( They also have a Jaguar warrior within our borders. We tried ignoring him but he won't go away.

There are rumblings in parts of our country to have the English expelled from our land. This sentiment is gaining support both in and out of government circles...

Pggar
Dec 11, 2001, 09:18 AM
I ended up playing 15 turns as I'm running late and got to go out. Here's the log.

1. 1660 - For some reason we were being whipped by the Aztecs. They used to get 2 luxuries plus 80/turn, while we would get only one luxury. That's over. Now we get dyes + 40/turn +10gold, while they get our 2 luxuries. The Germans now pay more (15/turn more) to obtain ivory. Incresed (on 7/turn+150gold+wmap) the price of ivory and gems to the English and (on 2/turn+35gold) to the Americans. As you will see those actions were a blessing to our treasure. Our distribution was changed to 2.6.2. Lots of WLKD in the horizon, faster science output, and still 17gold/turn. Ok, there are governors ruling cities, and that's just weird for me (the micromanagment king). I hope you guys don't mind, but I'm turning some of them off. Rome built university and Thermopylae a cavalry. Disbanded 2 swordsman.

2. 1665 - Peace with english, no tributes as I didn't want to upset them yet. WLTKD celebrated all over Greece. People are in love with their new ruler Pggar I.

3. 1670 - Isaac Newtonpoulus has come up with a great theory, and we are not allowed to float anymore because we discovered gravity. Now some scientists are working in a new kind of power that according to them can perform wonders (Steam Power). Our historians say we've entered a new age and we masterd the secret of Nationalism. Changed Athens production to Newtonpoulus' University, Wall Street can wait. Disbanded 2 sordsman.

4. 1675 - The iroquois got us. They now receive (ivory+gems+11/turn) to their incense. This is still the most cheap deal we can get since Americans and Germans don't wanna sell their luxuries for less than 30/turn and techs. We have completed Newtonpoulus' University in Athens. CornEmpire and Miletos people finished marketplaces and are happy now. Azteck warrior diplomatically removed from our territory.

6. 1685 - Delphi and Halicarnassus built aqueducts.

7. 1690 - Price of english furs increased by 13gold/turn.

10. 1705 - Cities built things.

14. 1725 - We now know the secret of Steam Power. Going for Industrialization (10 turns). Thermopylae and Veii finished granaries.

15. 1730 - We have lots of coal in our borders. Finished my turn.

List of cities where the governor was turned off: Knossos, Halicarnassus, Miletos, CornEmpire, Athens, Delphi, Neapolis, Veii.

Summary

- Finished with treasure at 3.5.2. If you want to lessen the entertainment tax, be aware of the fact that cities will come out of WLTKD, and production will be lost. I think if we get another luxurie we can drop the tax by 10% without problems, but the luxuries prices are very high. I think I'm kind of responsible for that. :D
- Our army is concentrated in Neapolis, but there are cavalries in strategic cities to prevent any adversity.
- Our new worker project should be the railroad net.
- After Industrialization is done, I would go for Scientific Method for those free technologies.
- Remember that banks, marketplaces and harbors are free of charge, so build them if you have the chance.

That's it. Here's the file.

Thank you for killing some governors. :goodjob:
In later games I turned that off from the begining.

I performed an end of turn review before starting. Cancel all of the mining by Athens. Electricy soon, so why waste our time mining. Cancel work near Thermopylae as the city can't use it. I killed some military building in cities without barracks. Switch Cornith from granary to calvary, as the city maxes out at 10.

1750 - A lousy 722 gold, but we are the wealthiest nation.

1752 - I missed one. Granary in sparta built. Won't matter until electricity.

1754 - New trade deal with England. Offer the luxuries SEPERATE and get more per turn, plus $140.

1756 - New trade deal with America. Again, seperated the luxuries. Gives us more control. The only deal I plan not to touch is the Aztec deal. That one is just to good.

1758 - Electricty research begins, with Medicine, then Scientific method. I am dying to irragate Sparta.

1760 - I start library in Rhodes. Defense against culture flip, and maybe we can get Norwich. I pick up a few bucks from map selling.

1762 - The Mutual pacts begin - Iroquis and England.

1768 - WAR. Aztecs versus the Germans. Why I avoid Mutual Protection pacts. Wall street on line. Micro-manage Herakleia to make a factory worthwhile. We lost furs.

1772 - Iroquis declare war on the Germans. English declare war on the Germans.

1776 - The Aztecs offer Mutual Protection, and I tell them to pound sand. I have no interest in seeing Germany die.

1782 - My final act gives the Greeks Electricity, researching Medicine with goal of Scientific Method.

-----------------------

Goals.
Keep cash above 1000 to take advantage of wall street.

WATCH starting any war very carefully. Mutual protection pacts in place.

Watch our workers - some of them may be on automate :(

I shut down some more city governors. I don't know if I got them all.

You will get the game with Electricity ready. Irragate Sparta, Athens, and Ravenna. These are low corruption cities that will appreciate the boast in size. They may very well turn out to be builers of space ship parts.

I am working toward a large amount of factories. Keep the railnet building.

We have a clear path to winning - Space Race :) We are ahead of the world in science. #1 goal - Scientific method and start the wonder.

Universal suffrage queued up in Thermopylae. If war happens, it will be nice. I am concentrating on improvements near that city. German started this, so this must be done. They just got industrialization, so we should be them with a factory.

Keep our hugh science lead. Nothing, not even luxuries, is worth giving it up. This is a space race game, and tech lead is the key

BEHOLD! The reign of Lord of Hammers has begun! It shall end in 1800 AD!

1790- After a breakdown in negotiations with Great Britain, The bloody English declared war! Talks with Germany have given us a mutual protection pact with them.

1792- England, following suit, Asked the Iroquois and Aztecs to help them, we have a catastrophe! But all was not lost. Liverpool was captured, giving us 2 workers along with it.

1796- Rome had a embargo against us, but they had nothing to trade anyway, they are so puny...

17980- Got America on our side also, but our people are getting angry because we lost many luxuries from the enemy.

1800- Lord of Hammers has commited suicide, because he did not want to take on responsibility for the country in a time as dire as now.

-ALERT! WORLD HAS EXPLODED IN WAR! POPULACE IS ANGRY! REVOLT IMMINENT!

Come on! World Wars are probably the best part of this game. We're ahead in technology, but we have to come out of this war soon. Also, if we play it right we can get some of money, maybe a leader, and no more outsiders cities in our continents. The railnet will be the most important part of this war.

Pggar, well I hope by the time it is back to you, the war is over.

If it last that long, we are in trouble. We have no navy, and can only fight a defensive war. Can't get much of value from it.

I just saw how big the problem is. Anyway, why are all our troops in Cumae? And, more important, why did the Aztecs enter this war? I can't see any mutual prot pacts or mil alliances between them and any other civ. We'll have to build some ironclads fast. A defensive naval war is pretty doable. You hit and get back to your city, but we need a navy first. Let's hope they don't come all together. This will be pretty hard. Good luck Nanook (since it's your turn).

Dec 11, 2001, 05:36 PM
Firemarshall Nanook was re-elected today to a 40 year term. He steps into a difficult situation, with the majority of the world at war with the Greeks, and stirring discontent among the populace over this fact. He faced some tough times at the beginning with the English taking control of Cornempire Colony and the majority of Greek trade agreements being ripped up due to the war. The economy is facing a major recession, and revolt is possible.

But he is up to the tasks. Dipping into the emergency funds, he hurries together an elite group of Cavalry, and is easily able to retake Cornempire Colony. During this time, the Zulus annihilate the Romans from the face of the Earth. Using the same elite Cavalry, Nanook turns his eyes outward, deciding the English need to be taught a lesson. He easily overwhealms Norwich, adding it to our glorious empire. At the same time, our scientists make a starling breakthrough, formulating plans for a better way to research. They call it Scientific Method. Nanook has an idea that sap from these strange trees growing in the jungle may be useful, and directs the empires scientists to try and discover ways in which it may be used.

After the fall of Norwich, England and Elizabeth have come to their senses. In exchange for a peace treaty that will last well into the term of the leader following Nanook, the English have agreed to pay us many gold pieces per turn. Seperate agreements were worked out to trade resources and luxuries to the English in exchange for luxuries and gold.

In a brilliant stroke of trade acumen, Nanook has worked out deals for peace, luxuries and tribute from the Iriquois, Germans and Amercians, in the process gaining knowledge of Communism, a strange govermental idea that has other more practical uses, and Espionage. Work was immediately begun on an Intelligence Agency, in order to spy on our enemies and find their weaknesses. At the same time, a great scientists of ours has started to formulate a new theory that he calls the Theory of Evolution. Spokesmen for the scientist, one Darwinopolous, say he expects it to lead to startling breakthroughs in other fields as well as his own.

Finally the Aztecs and Zulus come to the negotiating table. In exchange for peace with the Aztecs, we receive gold per turn. The Zulus agree to give us their second to last city, giving us a foothold on a distant island. This could have serious strategic uses, or it could be used as a bargaining chip with another nation. Nanook spokesmen report that he hasn't decided on what to do with it yet, and may leave it for his sucessor to decide.

On a more negative note, reports have come over the wire that the German nation has taken the signifigant step of offering its people Universal Sufferage. Trying to turn a negative into a positive, Nanook turned the resources that were being used to grant our own people sufferage to Darwinopoulus for much faster completion of his grand Theory.

It seems Darwinopoulus was correct. Upon completion of his Theory, major breakthroughs were made in both Sanitation and commerce, with the invention of the Corporation. On a related note, scientists have discovered many uses for the strange sap from those trees. Unforunately, we have no source of sap. A little exploration shows that the Americans and Aztecs both have it, unfortunately at the present time they know not the many uses it can be put to and are therefore unwilling/unable to trade it. In a press release, Nanook says that "A surgical strike to secure a source of the sap, known as rubber, may be in order. More thought shall have to be given to this idea."

In a stunning decision, the Great White Bear has decided to retire from the public scene 10 years early. Citing a desire to spend more time with his cubs, he has called for elections to choose a new leader. Pundits say that donsig is probably the best choice, and early polling shows him with a massive approval rating already. It is unlikely that he will face any opposition to his rule.

I haven't looked at the game (I'm at work now). If the situation is truly that bad then what terms are we willing to give to end the war? Should we pay through the nose or fight? Just want a little input from you all since my turn is after Nanook and the war may still be in progress...

I do think that even in a defensive war we can boot the English from our continent.:)

EDIT: Well, even as I wrote this little memo the Great Nanookopoulis has brought peace to the world!:goodjob: So, are the English off our continent?

I am still at work but will happily play my turn when I get home tonight (six more hours).

Nanook
Dec 11, 2001, 06:14 PM
The English are off. I couldn't boot the Aztecs though, since the city was defended by a rifleman and I didn't want to risk losing the Cavalry I made, since it was doing double duty as a mobile defender for that continent. I thought about building up a Navy and shipping some more cavs over, but a couple cities went into disorder and I decided to give peace a chance ;). The combo of peace with everyone but the Aztecs/Zulus and lots of new luxury deals sent pretty much every city from disorder back to WLTGWB(Great White Bear if you're scoring at home).

1832: Donsig takes charge of the Greek Senate. He is very dismayed that there is an unhappy Englishmen within the Greek republic. Everyone else is happy or content...

1836: Intelligence Agency built

1838: Lost spices. We were paying Abe 1 gold/turn. He now wants tech. Our people seem happy enough without the spices...

1840: Montyzumy wants Industrialization. CIA Bay of Troubles covert action backfires and Zululand declares war on Greece.

1850: We lost our silk deal. People don't seem to mind...

General notes: We reached the 1000 gold level in our treasury. All musket men and cannon upgraded. Started building navy. Got steel in 1846 and started refining. Didn't make it to the wines or saltpeter on the island near Zulu. Got beat out by Germans and Americans. Built a city on the other side of that island to get the iron. Dispatched two cavalry to Zululand. Stripped defenses on one island to do so! Railroad network proceeding nicely. Almost time to irrigate more. Here's my turn.
1852 - rearenged trade agreements with Iroquois, American, German, English.
1854 - English want to renew our peace treat without tributes. I don't get it. If I want to renegotiate peace, I first have to declare war. On the other hand, they don't have to do any such thing. Aztecs have destroyed the Zulus. Knossos building Battlefield medicine.
1856 - We no longer pay the Aztecs for dyes, we only give ivory and gems. We've lost the English source of furs. WLTKD ends in several cities. To recover it a new treatie is made. We give Electricity (Americans and Germans already have it) and saltpeper in exchange of furs and 11gold/turn. Iroquois and Astecs will give Wmaps for electricity, but I won't do that.
1866 - Discovered Refining. Researching Combustion.
1876 - Battlefield Medicine completed in Knossos.
1882 - Researched Combustion. Going for Mass Production. The Americans offered a mutual protection pact, but I didn't accept. If you want to make the pact, just contact them in this same turn and they'll accept it.

1884 - Why in the world are we building "wealth"? We have a lousy navy, little transport power, and crappy military. Hmmm... #2 on the most powerful list, sorry I want #1.

1886 - WT????? Why are we still "republic"? I start a revolution immediately to fix the problem.

1894 - The democracy of Greece is formed. England cancels gems agreement.

1896 - England cancels coal agreement.

1900 - I form the city of Megara. It won't grow, but I want the land bridge city. This will give our navy a lot more flexibility. I have now been forced to put some cities in wealth mode

Summary - The game is really screwed. :suicide: :suicide: :suicide: :suicide:

No oil either. I am mass rushing culture buildings by Tepexpan. Maybe a culture flip will save us.

Bismarck has rubber to trade - However, I want to wait until we have a larger cash reserve to take advantage of it.

Up next - Ohwell
We need to come up with a plan how to pull a rabbit our of our hat.
 This feels like a lost cause. I welcome suggestions on how to salvage this.

We at least have a transport fleet now.

You can renegotiate peace any time after 20 turns. I did it in this game with the English. Open a diplo screen with whoever, propose a deal, click on Active, click on peace. A pop up will come up asking if you're sure you want to do this, say yes and there you go.

And I LIKE Wealth. I almost never have a large army unless I'm actively preparing/in a war. I would rather build wealth and gain money than build units that I don't really need and end up having to pay more than I do. I'm almost always last or nearly last in power, but it doesn't matter because I'm always ahead in tech(which we still are). I wouldn't worry too much about rubber yet. We have a couple of options with it. Trade it, which I don't care for since it'll almost certainly cost an arm and a leg and always seems to expire right when you really need it, or take it. I did a quick look when it first became visible, and the most likely spot for conquest is just to the east of our original continent. There's an island there that had(haven't checked the last two saved games so not sure if its still the same politically) two or three civs sharing a 4-5 city space. One of the civs were the Americans, and they had rubber there. We might also be able to con them into trading the city, perhaps using Ibanaga or surronding one of our home cities with a big army and trading it with a quick follow up attack to retake it.

Who discovered democracy and why didn't they switch to it? Pretty sure it wasn't me.

I don't see this as a lost cause. Maybe I'm missing something??!? We have forces to protect our mainland from invasion and our railroads make our reserve very mobile.

How are we trying to win: spaceship, cultural, diplomatic, conquest?

"How are we trying to win: spaceship, cultural, diplomatic, conquest?"

That is exactly what we need to figure out.

We are in a very weak military position, so conquest is clearly out. No oil or rubber.

Cultural - Our culture level is not much above the Aztecs. I don't think it is possible.

Diplomatic - Hmmm.... Maybe it is time to roll the dice.

Spaceship - still possible? Can we pull this off with oil or rubber?

donsig
Dec 13, 2001, 06:12 PM
I've not built a space ship yet. (Haven't even built a plane yet.) So I'm not sure if we need rubber or not. I have a question about rubber: does it only occur in jungle tiles? If so we may be in trouble since there's not much jungle around...

Pggar
Dec 13, 2001, 06:34 PM
Only one part of the spaceship needs rubber, we'll need aluminum (9 parts) and uranium (1 part) for the rest though. I think spaceship and diplomacy are our options.

Off-Topic - Can anybody help me with this. I want to start a succession game with edited rules, but I don't know if that's even possible. I started this thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11754), an in my last post I proposed a test (i uploaded one saved game and its scenario file) to see if it is possible, but nobody responded yet. Could anybody help me?

That's good, but if it fails we should be getting into war soon. In this war we shoul try to get Ulundi (rubber) and Zinbabwe (wine) to our empire as they're pretty close to our continent and a bit distant from the Aztec capital.

On a side note, Ohwell you should start planting some spies. Even if propaganda is just a waste of money, it migth be worth the trying.

The Greeks elect Lord of Hammers to rule their country

- The Germans offer to give us rubber for 40 years(20 turns) in return for gems. The rubber deal allowed us tu upgrade our riflemen to infantry.

-Dateline- Athens- 1924- The Aztec leader, Montezuma, sent an envoy to demand we give them the secret of espionage. Oir people said no, and the Aztecs declared war! The Germans, our best buddies, were also at war with them, so we signed a Military Alliance against the Aztecs.

- Not much more happened, but we are going to lose a backwater city somewhere deep in Aztec Territory. Don't worry, it sucks.

- Upgrade the remaining infantry

- Put our cavalry in galleons and shipem off to Aztec lands. There is a lot of cavalry in Cumae, but there is more elsewhere.

-Exploit our huge navy! It is big, and we should use it in our favor

Wo whomever start the Aztec invasion, I think we should conquer Tapexpan first (and defend our island), then Zimbabwe, and finally Zulundi. When invading the Aztec continent, we'll need a huge defensive group. An army of infantries would be great, but that doesn't seem to be possible. :(. It's a pity that we didn't plant a spy in the Aztec civ. Now we can't see how huge their army is. :(

Up next - Nanook , our military genius.:)

Ohwell, I am glad you like the navy. I spent a lot of my 20 years on building transport ships, what I felt was our biggest weakness.

Any damage we can do to the Aztecs will be a plus, as they are our biggest competition. The question is will even more countries join the party?

1924: A little set up before the war kicks into high gear. A couple of deals for luxuries to keep war weariness to a bare minimum. lkendter wondered who else would join in against the Aztecs? After a few well placed bribes, everyone did :rocket2:
The Aztecs took Artesium and razed it. *shrug* No big loss that.

1926: Nothing special. Infrastructure and moving the Navy into position.

1928: More of the same.

1930: Moved a decent force next to Tepexpan. Commenced bombardment. Its only a size one city, so it will likely be auto-razed(stupid patch "feature").

1932: I was wrong(not that I mind in this case). Tepexpan was NOT razed automatically. It is now ours. I'm moving workers into the area to build some roads and connect the city/oil to the rest of the empire.

1934: War weariness is starting to become a factor. Will have to move quickly to secure Ulundi and the source of rubber. Dropped 4 Cavalry next to it, with a couple more to be dropped in next turn. Should be enough.

1936: Ugh. The initial force of Cavalry got counterattacked and wiped out before they could even move. No matter, another stack of units has been dropped off and there is a stack of ironclads off the coast providing bombardment support.

1938: Again our landing party was repulsed before they could move. More units dropped off, including infantry this time. Some cities switched from wealth to units, and additional reserves called up. This could be ugly. I refuse to give up until we have the city however. A source of rubber not dependant on the good will of other nations is vital.

1940: I'm starting to get a little ticked off. Ulundi WILL fall!

1942: More disorder. Ulundi has to fall soon. More unit shuffling.

1944: Blah blah.

1946, 1948: See above.

1950: Not looking good. May be forced to temporarily make peace, failing to meet one of our two objectives. Reupped the deal with the germans for Rubber and Silks.

1951: Next turn we get tanks, pretty much our last hope for taking Ulundi by force. If they fail I'll attempt to get it diplomatically. Doubt that will happen however.

1952: Switched production to tanks. Several of our allies made peace with the Aztecs. Not good.

1953: Rushed a couple tanks into being. Loaded them up for a last ditch attempt to take Ulundi. Lets hope.

1954: Next turn the armada lands.

1955: The army lands.

1956: Failure. Not only was our army wiped out, but the Aztecs refuse to discuss peace. This is really not good. On the sorta, almost, maybe bright side. Ibbabango reverted back to us.

1957: They finally offered peace. Got squat out of it. But this does allow us time to upgrade our Navy(which I've already begun with a couple battleships and transports being built) and build more tanks.

Ohwell
Dec 14, 2001, 09:16 PM
Nice! At least we are at peace, but we didn't affect the Aztecs. I suggest we attack them in the future, but we will have to have a huge tank army with infantry escorts. If we get them, our histograph will put in our favor. The Aztecs are too good to let pass by.

Well, we at least get oil :)

The challenge, < 100 turns left. How are we planing to win?

I think donsig has to set our path up. Do we rush to Rocketry? We still have a tech lead over everyone, which may give us a space win.

Culture is out, our rating is to close to the Aztecs.

To late for military / conquest.

Should we roll the dice with Diplomatic?

1958: Donsigopoulis elected by the people to lead Greece. Smarting from the recent rebuff at the hands of the Aztecs the Greek governement government continues upgrading the navy while turning more attention to the domestic crisis looming due to the increased use of factories.

1959: The importation of American spices (for 57 gold/turn) is in jeopardy. Donsigopoulis sends technical advisors to show the Americans how to mass produce the spices. In return Greece gets the spices and 75 gold/turn.

1960: Greeks scientists succeed in getting the first heavier than air vehicle off the ground. There is talk about going to the moon.

1961: The GIA (Greek Intelligence Agency) tries planting a spy in the Aztec capital. The unsuccessful attempt leads to war between Greece and the Aztecs once more. No more wines or dyes imported from Aztecland. This causes rioting in all major Greek cities. Donsigopoulis makes a deal with Elizabeth of England whereby Greek scientics teach English scientists about atoms and such and in return Greek saltpeter is exchanged for fine English furs. This is not enough to stop the civil unrest and the science budget is reduced in favor of more luxuries.

1962: The Greek navy begins bombarding Aztec lands. Donsigopoulis vows to give the Aztecs the war they asked for and is re-elected to another 5 yeard term.

1963: Aztecs and Iroquois make peace. For 2 gold/turn the Greeks arrange for a mutual protection pact with America. Civil disorder in Greek cities finally ended.

1964: The Aztecs and English make peace. Greece stands alone against the dark green menace.

1966: Small Aztec invasion force sunk at sea. The GEF (Greek Expeditionary Force) of 12 infantry, 6 tank and 3 artillery divisions leave Greece.

1967: America declares war on the Aztecs as the naval battle heats up and the GEF lands near Ulundi. Donsigopoulis elected for third consecutive term.

1968: More rioting in Greek cities due to bombardment by the Aztec navy. The GEF attacked and loses one infantry and one tank division on the Aztec beaches. The GIA infiltrates the Aztec capital and discovers that Ulundi is garrisoned by 2 rifle divisions and 4 recuperating cavalry divisions. With this information in hand the GEF captures Ulundi while losing only one tank division.

1969: Rioting in Tepexpan. The ethnic Aztec object to Tepexpan being the base for bombing raids to the south of Aztecland. Silk and rubber trade agreements expire. The Greek government goes to great expense to build a harbor in Ulundi to make the importation of Rubber unneccesary. Donsigopoulis strikes a deal with Bismark. Greek scientists teach the Germans how to build aircraft in return for German silks, 100 gold/turn and an alliance against the Aztecs. Germany promptly declares war on the Aztecs.:) Not all Greek scientists are busy teaching Greek secrets to other nations: radio has been perfected and research begun into the secrets of the atomic nucleus.

1970: GEF loses a tank and infantry division to hordes of Aztec cavalry. The GEF destroys two cavalry divisions in return. The GEF receives replacement forces as the roads and railroads north of Ulundi are cut. Donsigopoulis does not even think about peace since there is more rubber to the north of Ulundi as well as wines and aluminum to the south.

1971: Large cavalry force heads for Ulundi. They are slowed by lack of roads and their refusal to attack fortified Greek infantry. They attempt to manuever so as to reach Ulundi from the south.

1972: Iron City built on an island with both iron and coal resources. Position around Ulundi fortified and reinforced as GEF regains strength and counter-attacks Aztec cavalry. Donsigopoulis declines another 5 year term saying, "The war is not over but has entered a new stage and a new leader is needed to guide Greece."

My round was terrific fun!:) :)

I secured the Aztec rubber but our the war has narrowed our tech lead. I had to trade some techs to keep our happiness and financial position from going all to heck plus I had to reduce our research rate. We did enter the modern age and got rocketry. Forgot to note that in my (long) update. We have aluminum near Rome and another source in the south being hooked up. The Aztecs have two aluminum (and more rubber and some wines) so I think we should continue the war against them. I think we should try to get the lower half of their empire. There's a little double land bridge connecting the north and south halfs of their country. It would make a nice little border between us and them...

We have the lead over the Aztecs in the histograph. I think we have that win locked up. We'd need over 40,000 culture points for that type of win so that's out. We should be able to build the UN. I'm not sure about a space ship.

After building the army and taking Ulundi I got a bad case of McClellanitus. Didn't want to risk losing anymore of the army! I also left most of the army outside the city just in case it flips back to the Aztecs. The attack must be pressed but I leave that up to pggar. I had great success tearing up the Aztec roads and railroads to slow down the cavalry. It would be nice to have part of our navy on the other side of the continent to bombard the west coast rail network.

In the year of 1973 the greek people elected Pggarnikos as their new president. Greece was about to extend its borders advancing into the Aztec continent.

1973 - Some ironclads are shifted from their current position to protect Liverpool's coast. The Aztec city of Chiconautla is destroyed (1 slave). Aztec cavalries reinforcements come from south, and our artilleries make some good damage on them.
1974 - Sources of coal and aluminum expired. One source of aluminum reappeared in our borders.
1975 - Coyotepec is destroyed.
1976 - Captured Zimbabwe and Leo's workshop.
1977 - For the first time in ages Greece is polution free.
1978 - Captured Bapeti and Isandhlwana. The war has come to an end. Itombe was given to us. Germans are mad with this. I give them wmap and 69 gold to pass them from annoyed to polite. I hope our mutual protection pact with the Americans (end in 4 turns) don't bring us back to war. Micromanaged every city to put empire in optimal position. Finished upgrading all riflemen.
1979 - Aztec and Americans signed a peace treaty. Aztecs declare war on Greece after disastrous diplomatic mission tried to make Aztec units get out of Greece's territory.
1981 - America declare wars on Aztecs. 13 Aztec cavalries are sent to get Isandhlwana. Only 3 survive our couter offensive.
1982 - 8 Aztec cavalries destroyed.
1984 - We lost our souce of furs and for the first time in my Civ3 playing time my people has overthrowed my democracy descending into anarchy!!! Ngome was captured.
1985 - New Koninsberg (Aztec) and Zitlaltepec are destroyed.
1986 - The Germans are grabbing the south area of the Aztec continent.
1988 - The Aztecs don't wanna talk.
1990 - We're now a monarchy.
1991 - Tlacopan destroyed. Aztecs don't talk.
1992 - Fission is discovered. Lord Hammer starts to build the United Nations. Aztecs still mute.

I guess this is my last turn. Diplomatic victory and histograph seem to be our only way out of this game. Good luck to whomever comes next.
