Ginger_Ale Oct 26, 2004, 07:38 PM Term 4 - The Province of Hai-Rando
Past Term Threads:
Term 3 (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=101178)
Term 2 (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=100182)
Brief History: This province was 'created' in Term 2, with MOTH appointed as governor and myself as deputy. We continued to serve the same positions in Term 3. This term, MOTH has decdided to run for culture, and I gained governorship of this province without a contest. And that's where the past ends and the present begins. This is my third straight term serving the province of Hai-Rando.

MOTH Oct 27, 2004, 10:09 PM Honorable Governor Elect,
I welcome your thoughts on build queues for the end of my lame duck term. I wouldn't want to start anything that is contary to your future plans. Please check in over at the Term 3 thread. I'm going there now to post build queues.
Thanks - Lame Duck MOTH
Ginger_Ale Oct 28, 2004, 08:18 AM This thread has been updated to include city information and a screenshot from 1090 AD. Hope it helps you all!
@Moth: I am heading over to your thread now -- I have the save open now, so I'm ready.
MOTH Oct 29, 2004, 09:28 AM Epolenep (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=103544) now has a city thread.
Sir Donald III Oct 31, 2004, 08:28 PM Starting sometime in the Second TC, we would likely be able to construct Railroads.
Since the benefits of railroads are the same (instant transportation and +1 to Irrigation or Mines) whether the rail line is direct or serpentine, I would like you to ask your Mayors which tiles they would most like to be improved upon. Mined and Irrigated Tiles will be the only ones considered for these requests. (Doesn't mean I won't RR un"improved" tiles, but I would like to see your preferences.)
Ginger_Ale Nov 01, 2004, 06:22 AM Thank you SDIII, I'll post in the Mayors' threads now - if they don't have a mayor, I will come up with a list of preferrred tiles.
MOTH Nov 01, 2004, 07:32 AM Honorable Governor,
Please make a list (of 5 or so) tiles you would like to see be improved by railroads when we get them. Thanks.
I would like to request that the 3 irrigated tiles be Railroaded as these are the only improved tiles within my city. I would also like to request that 3 roaded river hills be railroaded (and mined if possible). All that is needed for Epo to become a production and commerce powerhouse is to be able to work improved tiles.
Thanks - MOTH
Mayor of Epolenep
Ginger_Ale Nov 01, 2004, 04:57 PM Preposed turnchat instructions, comments welcome from anyone:
------
Hai-rando Province
Build Queues:
Regent Town: Musketman -> Worker -> Musketman -> Cavalary
Epolenep: University -> Worker -> Musketman
Manchai: Library -> Aqueduct
Nihilon: Worker -> Worker -> University
Drachenfels: Aqueduct -> Courthouse
Gerunshi: Library -> Marketplace
Worker Suggestions:
Epolenep: Mine the horse hill
Regent Town: Mine the plains NW - W.
Gerunshi + Drachenfels: Road + irrigate the plains
Notes:
Regarding Manchai: Micromanage the laborers to work the sea whale tile to get more food, shields, and gold instead of one coast tile.
------
Thank you MOTH - I will include those in the 2nd turnchat's instructions once we discover Steam Power (10 turns).
MOTH Nov 05, 2004, 08:56 AM Honorable Governor,
It appears that the Babs are pushing hard in the culture war. They are a small nation but are only impressed with our culture. This would put their total culture in the 5-7000 range. When devided by their number of cities the average is quite high.
I would encourage you to build more culture in Epo (a Cathedral or a Colosseum). I am also suggesting in the Wonder Discussion thread that Regent Town builds the Heroic Epic.
Ginger_Ale Nov 05, 2004, 09:12 AM MOTH,
If the public agrees to build Heroic Epic in Regent Town I will surely add it to the queues. I haven't looked at the current save, but when I do either today or tomorrow, I'll see what I can do for Epolenep. Thanks for your awareness.
Zarn Nov 05, 2004, 03:59 PM Lord Ginger Ale;
Please keep the budget in mind when considering building improvments and units. Much of our budget is dependent on foriegn nations. Also, more units under a 'free' government (if we revolt) would mean a much higher maintainence.

Of course when we go to a "free" government we would make a lot more income too.
Zarn Nov 05, 2004, 06:22 PM Yes, but I don't want to pay the cots of an expensive yet useless military.
Ginger_Ale Nov 05, 2004, 07:31 PM Hai-Rando Province - 1220 AD
Build Queues:
Epolenep: Cathedral -> Worker
Regent Town: Heroic Epic ** -> Musketman
Manchai: Library -> Privateer
Gerunshi: Marketplace -> Courthouse
Drachefnels: Aqueduct -> Courthouse
Nihilon: Worker -> Worker -> Musketman
Notes:
-Change the laborer in Drachefnels from the irrigated desert tile to irrigated desert saltpeter tile.
Preferred Railroaded Tiles:
Regent Town: The 3 cattle.
Epolenep: The 3 irrigated tiles, and the 3 roaded hills.
Manchai: DP's discretion
Gerunshi: Any irrigated plains
Nihilon: DP's discretion
Drachefnels: Irrigated plains, irrigated floodplain, mined hill
** If Regent Town is not selected to build Heroic Epic, please produce Musketmen.
----
We can switch Manchai to a privateer now, like Provolution wants, but we will waste 6 shields. I'm for it. Any comments on this matter?
I'm not sure what to build in Nihilon - it has 3 shields at size 2, and after it's current worker in one turn, it will only have 2. It's pretty useless.
Comments welcome. :goodjob:
@Zarn: I know, I'm keeping that in mind. Most cities only have 1 unit. About improvements - many improvements like marketplaces and courthouses will pay for themselves, so I see no problem building those, but for the others, yes, I see your point.
@MOTH: I put a Cathedral in the build queue for Epolenep.
MOTH Nov 07, 2004, 08:48 AM Honorable Governor,
I expect Heroic Epic to be confirmed for Regent Town. However I would like to request that you include a reference to the Culture Minister's instructions for a possible override if Heroic Epic is not approved (you should include an alternate build queue just in case.)
Thanks - MOTH
Ginger_Ale Nov 07, 2004, 08:50 AM MOTH,
I will have it produce musketmen for now, unless Heroic Epic is approved. Thanks for your advice.
Ginger_Ale Nov 10, 2004, 04:47 PM Hai-rando Province - 1255 AD
Build Queues:
Epolenep: Cathedral -> Bank
Regent Town: Heroic Epic -> Musketman
Manchai: Privateer -> Courthouse
Nihilon: Worker -> University **
Gerunshi: Marketplace -> Library
Drachefnels: Aqueduct -> Courthouse
Suggested Railroaded Tiles:
Epolenep: Irrigated plains and mined hills
Regent Town: The cattle and any irrigated plains
Manchai: None preferred
Nihilon: Mined grassland and hills
Gerunshi: Any irrigated plains
Drachefnels: Any irrigated plains
** It can be switched to something more valuable later on.
-------
Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
Furiey Nov 13, 2004, 05:45 PM Governor Ginger Ale
I notice looking at the save that we have lost the Horses near Manchai/Epolenep to Babyonian Culture. As we have just lost them, perhaps you should consider building more culture in Manchai rather than a Privateer to try and reclaim them. For your information we could now switch to a Cathedral (10 turns) and rush it for 184 gold, or a Uni (34 turns) and rush it for 664 gold.
Furiey
Sir Donald III Nov 13, 2004, 07:32 PM Governor Ale,
As Governor of a Province under Cultural Attack by the Babylonians, I wish for you to participate in the discussion in this thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=104831), in preparation for the Emergency Turnchat Tuesday Evening.
Ginger_Ale Nov 14, 2004, 04:03 PM Province of Hai-rando - Build Queues/Changes 1295 AD
Build Queues/Changes:
Epolenep: Colosseum -> Musketman
Regent Town: Heroic Epic -> Musketman -> Musketman
Manchai: Cathedral -> Colosseum
Nihilon: University
Gerunshi: Marketplace -> Cathedral
Drachefnels: Courthouse -> University
Notes: Epolenep expands in 6 turns, so we will hopefully regain control of the horses. If it does, switch the order of the Colosseum and Musketman.
----------
Even if there aren't any turns played, I would like these queues to be set up.
Comments?
Zarn Nov 14, 2004, 04:09 PM Just keep your eye on culture, and I'm good. Please post any cultural rushes you want in the Budget thread. You are far more than likely to have them accepted.
Furiey Nov 15, 2004, 12:55 AM Governor Ginger Ale. You mentioned the problems of growth versus production (particularly for Manchai) in one of the other threads. One option you may wish to consider is to request some workers be joined to increase the population more quickly. At present all our workers have a lot to do, but are there any high growth cities that are currently producing Wealth that could produce a Worker very quickly? Either way, this may not be the right time, but may be something to consider for the future.
Ginger_Ale Nov 15, 2004, 06:06 AM Fanatikku is a city producing wealth (the only one?) However, it cannot be joined to Nihilon or Manchai, as they don't have an aqueduct. Once Nihilon grows more, and Manchai gets an aqueduct after culture, I'll think about it.
MOTH Nov 18, 2004, 07:52 AM Honorable Gov'na,
I believe that the provincial borders also now include Tonawonda. The prez has requested a Temple rush in the budget thread, which I agree with.
Thanks - MOTH

@MOTH: That is certainly a good idea...

Epolenep: Factory -> Bank
Regent Town: Factory -> Hospital -> Cannon
Manchai: Aqueduct -> Courthouse

---
Again, comments welcome.
Provolution Nov 23, 2004, 02:37 AM Governor Ginger Ale
Please change Regent Town to Factory -> Hospital -> Cannon
This city begs for more health.

MOTH Nov 29, 2004, 08:03 AM Honorable Governor,
The citizens have voted to place the building of Battlefield Medicine in Epolenep in you capable hands. Please build this at your discretion (possibly after the factory).
Thanks - MOTH
