Welcome to the Foreign Affairs Office for Term 4!

Minister: Donovan Zoi
Deputy: CivGeneral

--------------------------

People of Japanatica,

As this term opens, we find ourselves at odds with the entire world. Were this a real world scenario, I believe that the Zulu and French would already be using our skirmish with the Iroquois as a chance to attack our northern border in the hopes of staving off a major threat to their very existence. But alas, this is a simple game of Civ, so it seems we are free to strike unchecked anyone who stands in the way of our desires, no matter how insignificant the spoils.

This is why I felt it important to come out of semi-retirement for this term. We need to bring a sense of honor back to our intentions. We need to know how to send a consistent message to interlopers without becoming butchers ourselves. Our nation has laid the groundwork to become the example for all nations to follow, yet we must exhibit a newfound sense of kindness to do so.

Do we have the wherewithall to hold our malevolent instincts in check, so that we can become the leaders of a free and prosperous world? I believe that we do. And with the peoples' blessing, I will do what I can to gain favor back from nations who no longer trust us.

There are many of us who wish for a Diplomatic Victory, and I would like to help deliver that if it is still a prevailing option. But it will take some reprogramming of our natural Civ tendencies to pull it off. Please join me in closing the book on the barbaric history of Japanatica, so that we may enter an era of peace and prosperity. And please join me in helping to play this game as if there were real world consequences, instead of painting in the numbers to yet another DemoGame Conquest victory.

What do you say, Japanatica? The eyes of the world are watching........

Respectfully.

Donovan Zoi
Foreign Minister

Here is a partial breakdown of current attitiudes toward Japanatica. The only nations missing from the advisor page are America and China. It is interesting to note that China and America were polite towards us until our recent unchecked aggression against the Iroquois capital of Salamanca and advance on Oil Springs. Since they have joined the rest of the world in fearful outrage of our current foreign policy, it can only stand to reason that our bloodlust has become too much for even these western barbarians to stomach.

I will not update this page but will let it stand as a testiment of our current situation; one I will pledge to improve over time. Updates will happen during the course of this thread as they are allowed to happen, so stay tuned.

Judging by the interest in this thread, it seems that no one really cares about playing a game with some RL perspective. With my job taking much of my time, I don't really have the patience for the continuing war movement of this game.

I hereby hand over the reins to CivGeneral.. I am finished.

That is disappointing DZ :(

All I can say, Mr. Zoi, is that the smallest pebble (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=103831) could trigger a massive avalanche.

And also, inertia is a very tough opponent (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=103760). Only time and work can overcome.

DZ,
I don't know if you are still around, but most threads in the government forum are viewed 10-18 times per day on average over the course of one term. Your thread at this point has received excellent interest. If you want to generate some changes about how we play the game then I suggest that you formulate some policy and doctrine threads in the citizens and/or polling forums. These are the areas that see much more citizen interest.

You want all these great changes DZ, but you don't want to take the time to implement them? What, did you think this was going to be a downhill battle?

DZ, you are a solid contributor, and unfortunately, some players see it their mission to provide flak to make the office less than comfortable, but please ignore these machocist jingoists, and get the majority to line up between your proposals. You win some and lose some. My baptism of fire was the Ringi reform that failed, and I will never make a similar mistake again. Try to reform the FA office in itself, and then the politics, and you will succeed.

The FA ministry is a very hard ministry to be in at this time... the nation is harshly split between peace and war.
Even if you wish to leave the FA ministry please stay around in the demogame, one day everyone will realize that conquest at this level in this type of game is too easy, boring, and in humane

It's extremely disappointing to hear that Donovan has resigned. I can only hope that he remains active on the forums, even if he doesn't hold an office.

FA Minister

Consider the Iroquois Peace Treaty.
We may get Tonawonda their gold and a right of passage law.
Let us make Iroquois and Rome client states.
