Hmm, maybe a third for me is a little too much at once, but put me on. If there is too much demand I will gladly concede:)

The year 4000 BC -

Our people have wondered for too long. We must settle somewhere and build a civilization. From our hilltop of gold, we see the ocean shore. We head that way and found Rome.

From this day forward, our people will be known as Romans.

We have little to begin building with, though much commerce. Perhaps when our borders grow Rome will hunt the game to our north, and begin producing in earnest.

We research a use for this metal called bronze. We make it the overwhelming focus of our efforts.

The Year 3000 BC - Some exploration outside of Rome has begun. Our future Emporers will have to found new cities in these yet unknown lands.

*CoH - Youre up buddy. I started on the gold and picked the best spot I could see. Took ten turns for the border to reach any shields. Now we are cooking! Research is set sky high so we can get iron working fast.

This may be one of the best potential cities Ive seen in Civ3 yet. If we build the colossus down the road, Rome would be a monster of biblical proportion.

See the barbarian village? I would build our first two cities there and by the incense on the coast.

If you need a replacement player, or would like to add another to the mix, Lurking Augustus is ready to reign over the Roman legions.

In a time of war and strife among the leaders of great civilizations, Lurking stands out as and advocate for justice and a promoter of love and happiness. The Romans will triumph in the end!

Assuming we all play at night, I think we shld arrange the turns according to time-zones. So after America, then Asia, then Europe. Then no need to wait around. But I think donsig's around? Never mind then, I'll take my turn and then turn in for the night.

We got good geography! :goodjob: Sorry for being late cos my idiotic housemate was using the phoneline to work. Idiot bringing his work home.

Highlights of my game : -

3000 BC - Sumerian village taught us Ceremonial Burial.

2900 BC - Our warriors see green borders. Japanese?

2850 BC - Researched bronze working. Researching iron working (what else!? :D).

2710 BC - Found Athens to the east. Made contact but they had nothing to teach us. Noted that Athens was protected by warriors.

2670 BC - Settlers readied. Archers found a Numidian village who gave us 25 gold.

2510 BC - Founded Veii on a wheat tile along the bend in the river. Bought masonry fr the Greeks for 53 gold. Good deal?

2430 BC - Our warriors ran into Iluryian barbarians along the east coast.

2390 BC - Killed them.

2310 BC - Warriors attked the Iluryian village. Plundered 25 gold.

End

Note - planned spots for future cities : -

1) Spot south-east of gold, south of Rome, on the coast beside river.
2) Spot west of incense, north of Rome.
3) Spot north of mountain, the mountain two tiles north of Veii.

donsig, your turn!

2110 BC: Learned iron working from our Greek neighbors. Incurred expenses of 9 gold in the process.

2030 BC: Settlers head north towards incense. On their way they find iron deposits...

1950 BC: Road to Veii completed.

1870 BC: One of our archers made it past the Greek borders - and barely survived a fight with hostile barbarians. Antium founded north of Rome and construction of a temple begun.

1790 BC: Military barracks completed in Rome.

1675 BC: Hired Greek worker for 27 gold.

1625 BC: Our trans-Greece archers plundered Mycenian gold. Romans begin practicing mystical arts.

1600 BC: Learned pottery from the Greeks. Spent 30 gold.

1525 BC: Vet spearmen fended off attack by Cimmerians. their camp must be found! Road to iron complete - if only it were in our borders! Road to incense almost done...

Gotta go - talk to you all from work!:D

I only managed to found one city but did work on our infrastructure a bit. I built a road on the iron rather that a colony to conserve our workers. I started the temple in Antium right away so we could get the iron within our borders ASAP. I started the Colossus in Rome since I only had 5 turns left. I leave it up to the next player to decide whether to continue it or not.

I did a bit of exploring. There is more incense in the northeast desert and some dye near the mountains on the other side of Greece.

Excellent work gentlemen.

I would build one or two more cities before starting the colossus, but thats just me. I like to expand quickly, then build a wonder in the capitol while the new cities churn out troops and workers.

jc011 is up next. I suggest rushing a temple to get the iron. Then we will have mighty legions. Ha! We laugh at your hoplites!:D

IMHO, I think we shld found more cities and esp cover up the Greek border and also expand to the north. Eventually I think we shld cover up the artic region to the east, unless of cos we're planning to wipe out the Greeks? :D

BTW, couldn't log on for quite awhile. Some problem with the forums site?

I'll check the attachment.

EDIT: I checked it, and it is fine.

CoH, did you unzip in "my documents" then use "windows explorer" to insert in Civ3 save file? Otherwise you have some kind of problem with zip.

What do you want me to do? Post and update us.

GREAT JOB!!! Awesome game! Colossus in 7 turns!!! Outstanding!

Should we do Pyramids next?

Two settlers on the way, and incense ready to build a road on. Most importantly, LEGIONS!!!

If there is any interest in continuing this game, someone else start a new thread.

I will have to relinquish my position due to a busy work load for a few months. Sorry, money talks.:D $$$
