View Full Version : LH Request: New Alex
Dom Pedro II Nov 10, 2004, 09:57 PM To continue my ideas somehow tying into Alexander the Great, I think we need a new Alexander leaderhead to replace the wimp Firaxis gave us...
Although my requests for American Presidents went entirely ignored, I'm hoping this doesn't. :p

I've got a model of a chimp on my hard-drive if you want me to make a George Bush leaderhead :D
Rufus T. Firefly Nov 11, 2004, 01:54 AM I second this. Also, it could be good to have the right Cesar leaderhead, like

CivArmy s. 1994 Nov 11, 2004, 08:18 AM I could offer help, but I'm busy with ACM, I really want this mod get ready soon, sorry men.
odintheking Nov 11, 2004, 09:30 AM As long as it doesn't look like Colin Ferrell, (I think I spelled his name wrong), I'm for this.
Ekmek Nov 11, 2004, 10:39 AM i did a leaderhead for alex, made to match with firaxis graphics. Alas it wasnt animated much.
Dom Pedro II Nov 11, 2004, 01:05 PM I guess I might have to do this myself..
Is there a tutorial on making Leaderheads?
Varwnos Nov 11, 2004, 01:14 PM You should also change the music to iron maiden's Alexander the Great. He died of fever in Ba-by-lo-on :)
You are right about the firaxis Alexander though. He looks like tony blair!
Dom Pedro II Nov 11, 2004, 02:23 PM I also think that a new Alexander King unit is needed... something akin to this:

odintheking Nov 11, 2004, 02:28 PM Is that game any good?
Varwnos Nov 11, 2004, 02:39 PM Perhaps Bucephalas (the horse) should be in the ancient background too ;)
Dom Pedro II Nov 11, 2004, 02:42 PM I wasn't particularly interested in the game... I was referring more to how I think the Alexander unit should look... mounted on back of a horse in full military gear. With a lion helmet.
Dom Pedro II Nov 11, 2004, 06:24 PM See? Now I have to do it myself... damned leaderhead makers....
I could still use a tutorial on how to convert this to FLIC....
Ekmek Nov 11, 2004, 06:33 PM if you have psp 7.0 animation shop you just create a new animation and save as a flic. its not the same as units and using 24-bit.
Varwnos Nov 11, 2004, 06:45 PM Wow, FC Milan's Maldini as Alexander the great! Or rather a hybrid of Maldini and Armand Assante

Depends on your tastes. I LOVE Empire Earth. I am very excited that the Empire Earth team has decided to (inatvertingly) take my advice and combine the best aspects of Rise of Nations(The different Civilization appearences and UUs) with the Epic Scope of Empire Earth(Prehistoric to the Far-Future).
Empire Earth 2 is going to be the best Real-Time Strategy Game ever created. It comes out in April and I AM buying it.
Dom Pedro II Nov 11, 2004, 09:10 PM Okay.... so then I'll just make the graphics and let somebody else convert it to FLIC because I don't have that program.
I'm not terribly thrilled with this Alexander... I need to de-Mikeify it.
With regards to Empire Earth, I didn't care for it much... first reason being, I don't like mixing historical and sci-fi. Secondly, I wasn't terribly impressed with the graphics. I think RoN is a better game, but EE is okay too.
One of the things I did like about AoE and EE over RoN was the ability to create some really interesting scenarios with relatively complex storylines.
Overall, I'd like to see a whole new breed of RTS... in general, it seems to me that if you've played one RTS, you've played them all.
I HATE the micromanagement aspect of RTS games... normally, when I go into a war, I just move my army in and let the units find their marks.. and that's why I usually get served. And then there's the fact that while I'm chucking troops at the enemy, there's still managing my economy I have to worry about... my brain is ready to explode! Finally, I'm like "Throw the pots and pans! Throw the ****ing pots and pans!"
And why are there never any railroads in RTS games? You could have workers build tracks and then build trains to ship troops to the front... could also be used for trade routes as well... to replace horse-drawn carts.
I feel like they could cut down on a lot of the micromanagement while bringing in new kinds of city improvements and stuff that would also help a lot to make scenarios more interesting and give greater depth.
