View Full Version : Buildings appearing strangely in the city screen

I was just testing my mod and found an unanticipated problem.

I've created new buildings and units and given them new graphics. They work perfectly in Civilopedia, the units work fine "in the field", and most work perfectly in the city screen, by which I mean the interactive city screen, not the city graphics screen with the "whoo-ah" sound.

PROBLEM:
However, some buildings show their new graphics only in Civilopedia, and look like recycling centers or Solar Power Plants in the building menu (and later on as city improvements on the left hand side of the screen where it shows the maintainance costs and culture points). Also, some units look different on the building menu.

There seems to be no entry for this in PedialIcons.

A possibly related question: what is the strange number before the word "SINGLE" or "ERA" in a PedialIcons entry? Does it have anything to do with this?

1/ you need to update your (copy of) Scenario/Art/City Screen/buidlings mall and large pcx. (long and tedious with sometimes weird results).

That's probably the same for the units, you need to add the icons in the units32.pcx (but Zulu made one with most user-created units, check in the unit library for it).

2/ It refers to either 1 SINGLE look for the entire game (a wonder for instance) or a look that change with the different eras (granaries, temples for instance) so you don't end up with a temple looking like Stonehenge in the industrial age.

So if your building has just one look for all the eras, choose single, otherwise make the era-related list.
