I'd like to be able to color my civ.... with three colors, main, secondary, and trim.

As much as this seems like a good idea, I can see the opportunities for confusion. Maybe if the game would be able to shade certain parts differently of the same color, automatically, it wouldn't be too bad, but having 3 different colors on one unit would seem....too much.

Maybe the three colours wouldn't all have to be on the unit. Maybe only the first two colours but the third colour would appear on other places. You could maybe find all colours on the cities or the borders.

The only color change would be on the players color. And the trim color you'd
only be able to see up close.

Issues could arise in multiplayer. In Homeworld the player could pick a primary and secondary colour, however one was restricted from being over 50% dark to keep the ships and the ship engine trail visible. Also one runs the risk of being unable to easyly confusable with other players.

It really depends on the structure of multiplayer, these issues. I am not sure classic multiplayer is being attempted, because the past two civs it was not entirely successful, due to the epic proportions of the game. I am hoping they are developing a new style of multiplayer, and I believe they can do it. The price of the franchise purchase tells me they are planning a subscription service. Even if it were, it is a turn based game. Time to differentiate players is abundant, and one could only move their own pieces anyway.

But being able to customize your tribe, to me would be key, down to the cosmopolitan touches.

I like this idea. It would be fairly simple to implement and very useful for scenarios.

I think there should be more than 1 colour allowed too. Your civ would look way cooler.

I'm not so sure, my bro and I have massive fun at civ lans playing 9 hour long games.. btu then again we are a very small segment of the market. but i agree, as long as possible gameplay conflicts were prevents (ie two civs same color) then I'm all for it.

an armies troops must look good. almost every general i know had designed his own uniform.
i think it would be nice maybe once every era to be able to personalize troop colors and flags. adding a personal touch.

Custum civcolors sounds good. I'm all in for this. Easy to make and high benefit.

I've always wanted to pick the color of my civ. Ever cince I started playing Civ2. I'd often pick the civ just because I knew what color it would be.
