View Full Version : Mao Zedong paedophile?
Shaihulud Dec 02, 2004, 04:20 AM Hello, although this is my first post but I have been lurking on the forums for some times. I read some threads long ago mentioning about Mao liking young virgins in passing, now i also read Tom Clancy's book the "The Bear And The Dragon" and it mentions that as well as declaring other unsavory things about the Chinese political leaderships.
What I would like to know is if this was substantiated by other historical sources or that it is purely fictional.
Drakan Dec 02, 2004, 05:13 AM I've also read it a couple of times in serious newspapers but I cannot assure if it's based on hardcore facts or not.
And....welcome to CFC Shaihulud [party]
silver 2039 Dec 02, 2004, 07:33 AM I've heard the same as well. Not sure if it's true though. He was a quite a womanizer so it may have some truth to it.
Knight-Dragon Dec 02, 2004, 12:01 PM I don't know, and I doubt the CCP would allow any such incriminating evidence and records into the open.
Although I'm sure it's certainly convenient for certain parties to heap such stuff on Mao...
mrtn Dec 02, 2004, 03:12 PM I've read about it, don't remember where, though.
luiz Dec 02, 2004, 04:22 PM We will never know for sure, as XII pointed out if it is true then the CCP would take care of anyone who might have this information.
FriendlyFire Dec 02, 2004, 04:52 PM This information came from hes "Doctor" who also spilled out other strange facts.
I guess power is seductive

What age of Mao are we talking about? I'm pretty sure when he was 16, he'd enjoy some young virgins.
BananaLee Dec 02, 2004, 10:14 PM There is an ancient belief (not just Chinese but all races have this ancient belief in one form or the other) that enjoying young virgins would provide the screwer with the screwee's youth and hence, cause longevity.
Mao was certainly no saint. But then again, I think ALL political leaders have their own flaws, imagined or otherwise.
Shaihulud Dec 03, 2004, 04:00 AM Thanks, I didn't think there was any substantiated proof anyway. Although it is possible that Mao was a paedophile such decadent acts were usually prescribed by the Communists as traits belonging to the Kuomingtang at that time.
steviejay Dec 03, 2004, 05:06 AM Personally I think he is. I've read The Bear and Dragon (reading it now actually) and I've read pretty much everything else Clancy has put down on paper and in all his works he seems to keep to facts pretty well. Also, in the book it was mentioned in passing, it wasn't part of the plot (not really anyway) I can't see Clancy adding it in if he couldn't prove it as a fact
Shaihulud Dec 03, 2004, 08:43 AM Tom Clancy is a popular writer I have read most of his books as well but he does let his prejudice shines through sometimes, like the part where the Chinese bishots like surfing porns and having sex with their secretary thats really unbelievable. The part about Mao was only to reinforce the perversity of the CCP.
Not that all this is untrue of course but you can tell that he really doesn't like the Chinese very much and it coloured his writing :mischief: .
Knight-Dragon Dec 03, 2004, 10:22 AM @steviejay - Oh yeah, you read it. Fr Tom Clancy's book. Very believable, reliable source.
steviejay Dec 03, 2004, 10:46 AM I'm not saying its fact, I'm just saying its my opinion.I never really gave it much thought, show me a source which says either or and I'll go with that
Yoda Power Dec 03, 2004, 11:38 AM I think it could might aswell be propaganda from the west, but ofcause the chance remains.
Headline Dec 03, 2004, 01:34 PM Calling Mao Zedong a paedophile is too extreme, just as calling Alexander the Great a homosexual. :crazyeye:
First of all, it was normal in Chinese tradition for an elderly man to marry a young woman. There were cases in which rich family brought young girls in as concubine. Mao came from a low class farming family. He might have the traditional mental set.
Second of all, he was the emperor, the hero, the deity figure. Young girls were thrilled to be with him. It is perfectly reasonable that he took the advantage. After all, Mao only has a couple wives.
It was noted in the Doctor's book that Mao ordered his comrade to secretly bring in young girls to his party.
Capulet Dec 03, 2004, 02:13 PM In Eastern cultures, I think that people view young people differently then we do.
I'm not saying they're pedophiles, I'm saying that it wasn't looked upon as abnormal if an older man married a teenager. Different culture, different viewpoints.
bombshoo Dec 03, 2004, 04:39 PM I agree with Capulet, and Headline...Just alot of western propaganda flipped it into looking like pervertedness...I doubt he lured young boys into his house with candy, or was some kind of Micheal Jackson.
Kafka2 Dec 04, 2004, 03:10 AM He was a mucky old goat and he liked teenaged girls. Who doesn't? The difference was that he actually got them.
Paedophilia? I'm not convinced. I think his tastes were for teenaged/early-20's girls, not pre-pubescents.
There were other dictators who definitely were paedophilic- Manfred Stroessner springs to mind.
Shaihulud Dec 05, 2004, 04:14 AM Thanks for all your replies. I found the book on the net here is a review about it.

It's called the "Emperor Has No Clothes" pretty funny for this post huh? ANyway as Kafka 2 says there is no mention that he was a paedophile just that he likes young women, and who wouldn't. Damn Tom Clancy! I told a Chinese student Mao was a paedophile and she was so annoyed  !
bombshoo Dec 07, 2004, 05:15 PM Pardon my offtopicness and ignorence, but whos Manfred Stroessner ?

Former dictator of Paraguay. Kafka2 wrote a great piece on Paraguay, the worst country on earth, check the articles list sticky for link.

As it happens, I'm rereading The Bear and the Dragon just now, and Clancy doesn't call Mao a paedophile, IIRC - he just say's Mao 'liked to deflower very young virgins' or something like that.
I'll look it up later, but I think that was it..
Of course, Clancy undoubtedly means to be derogatory, he REALLY doesn't like the PRC, they seem to be his successors-of-choice for the Soviets as 'the Great Enemy' of the US... ... the Chinese are behind everything bad in the world.. :D
I'd agree that what seems very distasteful to the American mind is regarded as perfectly normal in much of Asia - if a girl is pubescent, she can have sex, they don't follow arbitrary rules that state they must be over 16 or whatever... "statutory rape" indeed.
steviejay Dec 09, 2004, 04:53 PM I'm reading it as well  had a wee look for the quote -
"They have this big, perfect theoretical model, promulgated by Karl Marx, refined by Lenin, then applied in their country by a pudgy sexual pervert named Mao."
"Oh? Pervert?"
"Yeah." Ryan looked up. "We had the data over at Langley. Mao liked virgins, the younger the better. Maybe he liked to see the fear in their cute little virginal eyes--- that's what one of our pshrink consultants thought,***********. Well, I guess it could have been worse--- at least they were girls," Jack observed rather dryly, "and their culture is historically a little more liberal than ours on that sort of thing."
I edited a bit out because it is an adult book, and although I'm not saying its extremely rude or not fit for kids to read, II decided to edge on the side of safety
