I am running Civ III gold on a reasonably new Dell Desktop running WinXP.
PTW works fine, but when I try to run Vanilla Civ III, The little CIV III splash/pop-up-thingie comes on. The CD spins in the drive.......

Then it gives up and goes back to windows.

As much as I supect that this is an intentional feature to make the game more fun, please :help: .
