Well, my Play the World CD has apparently grown legs and walked away, so no Civ for me the past few weeks. Question is, if I go buy Civ III: Conquests, will that still work ok, or would I need another copy of PTW to do the upgrade, or reinstall when I get a new PC?

Conquests can be installed without having PTW, as it includes all of the PTW civs in addition to it's own. You still won't be able to play PTW though.

I can't play PTW without the disk, I just get the "insert correct CD-ROM" error message if I try to use the conquests disk. There isn't a PTW executable on the Cd either...

Look for 'civilzation3x.exe'. You're playing Conquests and not Complete, right?

Yeah, I've got the expansion packs, not the compilation sets.

Maybe the UK version has something to do with it, but C3C was supposed to be non-national specific, like PTW was.

Well I have now got the same problem. UK version no exe. Asks for PTW CD. I had Civ3 and PTW, I just bought the deluxe everything in it pack. It was only £5.00 more than the conquests expansion pack (In the one place I could find the expansion pack) So I thought OK get that and I can give the originals to my son.
Do you reckon if I uninstall PTW and reinstall Conquests it will put PTW in as well. What extra's do you lose?

If you get conquests with PTW included and you already had it installed you will get a problem as it is not installed if it already exists. Solution is on This thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=108133) . Seemingly it will be the same steps in the US version. Though I haven't tried that :)

You loose the special japan units, but you can get them back, I believe, from the civ website at www.civ3.com (http://). From there click on the "C3C Downloads" link on the left bar under the heading conquests; this will bring up a page with links to download all the PTW extras onto C3C.
