I bought Civ3...decided it was cool, just got Conquests...reading this forum I decided I had better get the latest and greatest patch...so I downloaded it.

What do I do now to get this patch to work? It is sitting in the "My Documents" folder and has an .asp extention on it?

Shouldn't have an .asp, it should have a .exe extention. Might want to try redownloading it from here (http://www.firaxis.com/downloads/patch/Civ3Conquestsv122FULL.exe).

Thanks Turner - I will try that again tonight. I thought .asp seemed a little strange.

Still having problems...it seems when I try to download it wants to name it with a .asp extention? The name is right (Civ3Conquestsv122FULL.exe) but when you look at the properties it is a .asp file and my computer doesnt know what to use to open a .asp file and neither do I

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Nevermind - I think I figured it out (extracted it using WinZip to a temp folder and found the exe there) ---is there a quick test I can do to make sure this patch actually installed okay? Like an obvious bug that was fixed?

Well, when you load Conquests up, in the bottom left hand corner of your screen, it should say your patch number. If it says v1.22, you're all set, but if it still says v1.00, something went wrong.

.asp and .aspx are sort of like HTML files (more like .php -- loosely). It's essentially a webpage, not a patch.
