Would someone be so kind to give a short summary of the "epic" mods around? I mean not the historical ones, but DYP, RnR, RoC, AU etc..
I am especially interested what approach they take to the game, concerning AI, strategic play and how gameplay is different etc. or if they just have more units and wonders but are basically the same as the original civ.

RaR is packed with additions, the game is totally revamped, hundreds of additions, literally.
RoX is played on a world map, it has 31 civs possible to play with at one time and it is historacilly accurate. The tech tree and unit lines are changed quite a bit, archers are defensive units for example!

thx, does that mean RaR is meant as "builders delight" and is not so much about war?

RaR expands on Building and Military. It adds great depth but it can overwhelm a newcomer especially the number of techs to research.

RaR is actually the successor to DYP and is the Conquest version.
