I am rather new to the Civilization Community, but I've learned a lot from your War Academy. Anyways, I was wondering if Civ Conquests and Play the World were available for Mac? I cannot seem to find them, and yet I have the impression it's out there.

Thank you in advance.

Another question,

This is incredibly noob of me to ask, but I can't seem to find a method of planting spies. How do I plant spies?

I'm not at home with my reference info currently, but I think you have to have the optional Espionage tech before you can use them (and therefore Communism as well). Then when you click the little 'E' on the frame of the status window at bottom right to open the menu of embassy actions you see extra spy options.

You can use the 'E' button to investigate cities and steal techs without espionage while you are at peace. Spies give you the extra ability to look at the AI troop deployments and spaceship progress, commit sabotage and spread propaganda, and to investigate and steal from a civ you are at war with. They can also be used to get another AI civ to declare war because that's likely to happen if you are caught, but I think there are cheaper ways to do that.

I never use them, and rarely even bother to trade for the requred techs. Spying missions seem to me very expensive, and risky, in themselves, and when you add the cost of the two optional techs to get to use them I think their value is dubious.

Stardog,
You can also double-click on the 'star' next to the name of your capital city. This raises a dialogue box with create embassy/create spy' options. To use a spy, double-click on the 'star' next to the name of an enemy capital. This raises a dialogue box with 'use embassy/use spy' options. Happy gaming!

I tried the little "E" button at the bottom right after having the appropriate technologies and had no luck. Though I'll try Duke's method.
Thanks!

first you need to develop espionage. then one of your advisors says "we want you to build the intelligence agency!" after that's built there will be a little pentagon next to whatever city it's built in (like the star for capitals). double click that and you'll be able to plant a spy in any civ that you have an embassy in.

oh, and you don't need communism - it goes nationalism -> industrialzation -> espionage.

Aha! The pentagon! I didn't know you could click on that. That's where I went wrong. Thanks a bunch! :-)

Now time to steal technologies...
