I have vanilla Civ III v 1.29f. Have been using it for about a year.....with no problems.
Recently, when I double-click the desktop icon to start the game, my screen goes black, and my computer restarts.
I have Windows XP, 512MB RAM, Pentium 4.

However, when I eject the game, and put the CDROM in manually, it will sometimes start up OK. That's what I've been doing the last couple weeks. But today, after loading the game, it crashed about 2 minutes into the game and my computer restarted.

What's Wrong?
I tried uninstalling it and re-installing it already. Same problem!

have u tried the latest graphics card drivers, sound, windows updates etc?

i am having the same problems with civ3 complete my machine was fully updated a month ago (by-annual os reinstall) ive had another problem with a game and it turned out to be tha dx9.0c the game didnt like it but would work in my other (older) machine fine (9.0b) as does civ3 maybe theres a paoblem with civ and 9.0c?
