Am I missing something, I was hoping to buy a decent ship. :(

You can only buy a ship if you don´t have a warship. Even then all you will get is a small warship mostly a sloop.

For other ships you have to fight them first.

I suggest the Pirate way of acquisition:

Look around for a decent ship, board it. :)

Yep, in all the other pirate games I have player one of the great features was that you could go to the shipwright and buy a vessel. a bit dissapointing. I've been chasing Morgan around in my royal sloop without any success. I'd love that ship !

I'm confused.
You mean you cannot catch up to him or that you cannot take him?

Catch up: try cotton sails.
Take him: try boarding rather than artillary dueling, then cut his legs off. (Slash low and fast). Still having troubles, dance with Attractive girls and take the fencing gifts.

I know that this is an old thread, but one feature I wish the game had was a cutting out expedition, whereby you could hijack a ship from the harbor at night.


In it you could start by step1) either sneaking into town or escaping from jail.

step2)Next you would board a ship with a handful of men and fight against a minimum crew for it.

step3) While your crew weighs anchor, you've got to disable the battery to complete your escape: The captain of the guard blocks your path.
