I just bought an external dvd-rom for my mac and I can't install the dvd player app that comes with Panther. I tried reinstalling the hole system, but it didn't worked. Then I tried to reinstall it from my dvd-rom, but it won't restart with the cd when it is in the external drive... does anyone have an idea? After all, the software comes with the OS that I bought... I should be able to install it somehow...

Or if there is an alternative dvd player... I tried vlc, but it doesn't do the job very well...

Hey dude... I know and that's why I announced it as "OT" (for off-topic). And BTW when you want an answer to a mac problem here, you don't ask it in a PC section ;)

And if it realy was a problem, I'm sure a moderator would have noticed me before...

I'm a little relaxed here about the occasional Mac-related question that departs from the main Civ3 agenda, as long as it doesn't become a habit. As a minority, we have fewer places where questions like these get fast responses, so why not help each other, as in this case? I hope that most Mac users are reasonably sensible and mature, and will not abuse this small freedom
