Notes:
- Arad Doman lies between the Mountains of Mist and the Aryth Ocean, just north of the Almoth Plain. Though the plain is officially unclaimed, Arad Doman has long maneuvered for control of it against Tarabon. The Domani believe they are descendants of those who made the Tree of Life, but it is the Domani women that are legendary. Copper-skinned and exceedingly graceful, they are said to be able to twist a man around their wrist with a look, and imprison his heart with a single smile. The clothes they wear are considered scandalous by most other standards. Their dresses cover their bodies from neck to toes, but are barely opaque and cling to every curve, revealing nothing while hinting at everything. Only the women of the Sea Folk move with more sensual grace than the Domani, and no other woman can compare to a Domani when it comes to practicing the art of seduction, which mothers begin teaching daughters in girlhood. Most Domani merchants are women, and the nation owes its wealth to their success. Few men will come off the victor in trade with a Domani woman, but they often consider losing worth the experience.
- Domani men are recognizable by their long, thin mustaches and earrings. Both men and women of nobility wear jewelry engraved or embossed with the symbols of their House. As much as the women are known for their beauty, the men are known for their temper. It has been suggested that it is dealing with Domani women which gives them such a temper.

this unit is just as good as the last, hopefully the lord of the modders will find it acceptable, but I doubt it... :p

Good... good

A question though:
What's the story of that shield? Is that a picture of a sword I see in it? And who was the designer of that shield's colour-scheme, and does he still live in the 1960's ;) :p

Jan 10, 2005, 05:37 PM
Well, that was quick, and you know what? He's actually closer to what the Alexandrian Knights of Pluto from FF IX look like, so I'll just be using the Kandori for something else (maybe the Hokuten Knights of Ivalice, since the Kandori looks more like them than UJ7's Heavy Legionary).

Oh, and good work as usual :goodjob:

I based the design of the shield from their national flag (and yes that is a sword you see in it :) ).
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads8/flag-arad-doman.gif

So I guess you could say I'm partly responsible for the color scheme. And seeing as how I wasn't around back in the 60's I don't think I could still be living in them... we'll just call it a throwback. ;)

Edit: And thanks again to everyone for all your kind words. Hope you can all put it to good use.

Excellent as always :D One tinsy tiny point... I would expect more follow through with his first big swing, it just makes it look a little chopped off without some more down swing. No biggy and not requiring a redo just something I'll point out for the next one :D

I suggest an alternative religius unit- a unit, similer to the knights templar, for for the religion mithraism; an alternative to christianity that woudl have becoem th edominat religion in the west (and middle east) if christianity had not been shoved in with constantine

What about Islam?

Islam is a branch of off of christianity- no dominant christianity, not a huge chance that Islam woudl come about- particulery when the major religion in both the Roman and Persian empires woudl have the god Mithra as an important diety (but the two religion sof both empires woudl have still been very different, even though the same gods was worshipped, the two never got into any holy wars)

I can't find a suittable sound for its attack. Can anybody suggest where to find one.

Thanks again everyone.
And thanks for the tip Kinboat, I'll remember it for future reference.

And for those that might be curious about what's next on the list, and might have not seen it in the WoT thread, here you go... the Panarch's Legion.

Since this unit has the same attack pattern as the swordsman, I just linked all the swordsman sounds....

Is that a tree on the Panarch's Legion?

CamJH
Jan 12, 2005, 10:07 AM
Sure is Yoda.
The Panarch's Legion is from the nation of Tarabon, and Taraboners call themselves the Tree of Man because they claim descent from rulers and nobles from the Age of Legends. It was also a rumor that back in the day, they had either a sapling or a branch from the tree of life. You probably only wanted a yes or no answer, so I'll quit rambling. :)

To nitpick and everything, I just used your recent swordsmen units (ItalianFootKnight, Kandori, haven't tried this one yet) in game and noticed they're noticably shorter than even the firaxis units. Since these are the the well fed knight-hood here you think on the next guys you could add half a head/a head?

Ooo a subtle way you might vary the next swordsman from the others is having him hold his sword ponted outwards instead of in.. the "in" being the left circle w/ stick

Not trying to tell you how to do your pasttime or anything, just noticed the similar stances of all previous swordsmen.

Bungus... your little Diagram makes NO sense to me.

Hikaro Takayama
Jan 12, 2005, 11:09 AM
You know, with that tree, the Panarch's Legion could probably be used as a Numenorian or Gondor unit in the LoTM.

CamJH
Jan 12, 2005, 11:55 AM
Thanks Bungus, I'll switch things up a bit more on the next unit. :)
As for the height issue...
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads8/DomaniDefault.png

If you look closely, my unit is in fact one pixel taller than the firaxis unit. :p :)

My thoughts exactly.

CamJH
Jan 12, 2005, 01:27 PM
I figured that's why you asked. ;)

And Bungus, I'm guessing you meant something like this.

Jan 12, 2005, 02:00 PM
Yeah, my diagram makes no sense to me either. But yes Cam, that's exactly what I was talking about! Just little differences, that really pronounce themselves when the units are next to one another. I can see his footing is switched too. Looks good.
I guess you got me with the size issue. Maybe the ItalianFootKnight was smaller, or perhaps the firaxis medieval infantry and swordsman are bigger than the warrior. So long as they're the same size as their comptemporaries.
@CAmJH: Hey, any of those knights I sent you usable?

CamJH
Jan 12, 2005, 02:22 PM
Although you made a good point about the crosses, I couldn't use those in particular because that isn't a symbol used in WoT. I should have clarified a bit more. As for the rest of them (those without crosses), I'm still considering them. Thanks for taking the time to look those up for me. :goodjob:

Jan 12, 2005, 02:50 PM
For LotM uses, might it be too much to ask for a black shield with a white tree? Thattaway it don't matter what civ colour Gondor ends up using (maybe they'll want to give black to some other civ, beats me).

mrtn
Jan 12, 2005, 02:54 PM
Mithadan, we already have the Tower Guard utah made for us. I see this more as either Noldor or Numenor, but I think we should discuss that in our own thread, and leave this thread to WoT. ;)
Gondor have white civ colour, btw.

CamJH
Jan 12, 2005, 04:00 PM
Although it isn't particularly elven, you could probably use it for whichever civ contains Lothlorien because of the golden leaves of the tree (which may be the Noldor, I'm not sure exactly how you've worked out the civs). Or like mrtn suggested with Numenor. I don't mind the LOTR discussion in here. I'm eagerly awaiting that release as well.

Hm, you wouldn't mind helping with unit creation, would you? ;)

We will have three elven civs; Noldor, Sindar and Moriquendi (aka "all other elves, including Lothlorien and Mirkwood."). Sindar and Moriquendi are more forestdwellers, while the Noldor are more "I'm good, and to prove it I'll conquer the world", and the ones most into Smithcraft and such, so this guy looks more like a Noldor IMO.

If I hadn't gotten involved with WoT, I can pretty much guaruntee that's what I'd be doing now. But when I first started posting here, there was already so many people involved with making LOTR mods, scenarios, etc., and no one (or so I beleived at the time) was doing anything for WoT that I figured someone ought to. I started off just by making maps, then worked on a scenario, but the lack of units kinda lit a fire under me to get going and start making my own.

In other words, and in answer to your question, I would have liked to but now I'm to involved with WoT to jump ship. ;)
