Viking Long Boat is the famous Viking boat used in the furious invasions in Europe, in Ancient Time and early Middle Age. Some of them have arrived in Americas in X and XI centuries, almost 500 years before the first Caravels.

i like your units but all your mounted units seem to ride horses with skinny legs disproportionate to their bodies. just my opinion, feel free to ignore me.

Thanks for the comment, I'll not ignore it :) I try use the same proportion of the horses in game, there, they look like more poney (shorter and larger legs) then real horses.

@to all other comments: THANKS TOO!!! :)

The run animation is very smooth and the attention you obviously gave to the leg-work definately paid off. :goodjob:

the legs are a little skinny, but i don't think you need to worry about them too much (ie: don't make them too meaty).

Maybe its just the fact that I'm remoting desktopping into my computer right now, but the Drotts' Default looks a little twitchy... Maybe you should pull the sword-arm in clsoer to his body a bit....

one thing I have noticed about your mounted units is that they seem to be sitting just a bit too far back on the horse. It just doesn't look right. Sorry, don't mean to be critical, but I think your units would be that much better if the rider's position were adjusted just slightly.

Something like this:

I must say something the longboat(since its small) would be a snekka and a bigger version would be a dragnar(or something)

I added the anti-aliasment in the two units, they have better graphic quality right now ;)

They are better. I especially like the civ colored checkered sail.

The ship's got the right-edge-bug in the attack, but otherwise I like it. You have to leave a two pixels wide gap at the right edge of any unit, otherwise the animations that touches the edge will "freeze" there for a while. :(

BTW, the checkered sail is very historically accurate. :)

I don't think your longboat needs any improvement appearence wise. But the attack could use alittle changing. I wouldn't have the boat rock when the arrows are launched. Also, I wouldn't have the arrows all fire at the same time, but rather more mixed up like the Civ3 ships.

Kal-Els plus Firaxis plus Civarmy's equals 3 different Longboat units...

I am glad pople have enjoyed the two units! :)
mrtn, I promiss, I'll pay attentation in my future units to correct the bug as I correct that error with transparence of the icons of the LHs. BTW, did u see the last ones, they don't have that transparence bug in the foreign screen anymore :goodjob:

Forgive me for saying this, but your ship just isn't the shape of a viking longboat. Take a look at this:

Yeah, it's not a longboat, but you can use it as another ship for the vikings, personally I think it can be used as a Galley flavour unit. :)

I think I would need change the name for "Viking Galley" ;) There is any specific name for this kind of galley of Vikings?

Bjornlo

Vikings did not use Galleys, those were Mediterranean.
They did use a variety of longboat style ships. Variety is always good.

I don't know if they had anything very "galley-like", but it's looking quite close to a "Knarr":

I guess that's what it's modelled after. :)

Well, I use your boat and have divided the existing longboats into three catagories.

SKARFI: Your boat. A skarfi is a rather short longboat, about 20m in length. An example would be the Oseberg ship.

LONGBOAT: The stock civ longboat.

DRAKKAR: The other longboat that is around (don't know by which creator). Drakkars are the largest longboats and were often owned by kings only.

PS: A longboat is by NO MEANS a galley. The hull structure and its sailing capacities are by far different.

I downloaded the file and look like u rise the sizes of the file in 10%, I think. Is this the single action necessary to fix the bug or there is any other tip?

No, I removed some shadows too, in the N direction (ie the one shooting to the right). The bug comes when you make the flc the first time in flicster, afaik...
