View Full Version : Lightened roads Niessuh Feb 02, 2005, 09:53 AM I have discovered a method to reduce the number of roads preserving conections between tiles. It was applied to the roads I was using, stone roads made by cassembler: Niessuh Feb 02, 2005, 09:55 AM Another advantage is that big cities aren't invaded by side roads: Niessuh Feb 02, 2005, 09:56 AM Download. I will try to do the same with my lightened railroads when I get enough....bravery :D Niessuh Feb 02, 2005, 09:58 AM If somebody want to change other kind of road graphic, the algorithm is something like: FOR each tile: First: IF a tile side is fully roaded (center side road and both diagonals) THEN erase the side road. Second: IF a tile has a center road in a side AND the two closer sides are roaded THEN replace that side road with a diagonal road to the closest corner (there is normally just a free diagonal, except a few cases) I think that the simplest thing is to follow the new connections :dubious: KUSANG Feb 02, 2005, 11:49 AM Thanks Niessuh! looks awesome! Snorken Feb 02, 2005, 12:35 PM Man that looks great! :) Corey Feb 02, 2005, 02:30 PM Awesome job you did:)Great:goodjob: Abaddon Feb 09, 2005, 12:32 PM fantastic.. but could you do it for the origianal roads please? Abaddon May 05, 2005, 07:13 AM bump .... Niessuh May 05, 2005, 08:07 AM Sorry, These days I'm short of time. You can try yourself, all you need is Microsoft Paint, is what I mainly use :D Penitent May 08, 2005, 05:09 PM Thanks  Bobeugen Aug 20, 2005, 12:48 PM This set of roads results from : genuine roads, plus a little improvement, plus a lightening. Preview : http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads10/bu200508roadsGenplusPreview.png In-game : http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads10/bu200508roadsGenplusInGame.png Note : works with [civ3], maybe also with other civ-flavors. Unzip, backup ...\Civilization III\Art\Terrain\Roads.pcx, then replace it. Pounder Aug 20, 2005, 03:36 PM @Bobeugen Looks good. I know how much work that was. Much appreciated. I used Niessuh's algorithm on my last set of roads as well, definitely less mess. Bobeugen Aug 22, 2005, 06:10 AM :D yipee !! :borg: and now more news : A stony-with-muddy-sides version of these roads now also exists in post 5 of the little improvement thread. |
