jj, maybe you can take it now. Personally, I'd like to get this one over with. If el, barbslinger or jj cannot play due to RL issues, then we can finish the game between TB, chunky and myself. It would be best if everyone could have a piece of the action at the end, but I certainly understand it's hard sometimes to work these things in.

I am up in another game, but if no one else can take it this weekend I can get ten turns in before sunday.
Lemme know what the score is..Barb?

1375 AD (0):
troops situation much better, but we can't build cavs. abe has spare salt, but we can't afford it.
agree palace jump is of little use now, so use leader for army.
63754 culture, japs 33617
shift a few defenders to new noviomagnus
calculate we need 30 cpt more to save us 2 turns
regret i filled the new army with 4 units, i'd like to get rid of the iros. they have a 1 tile city anyway...
fronts are well defended, almost all citis connectet. i hope we won't see marines.

IBT:
babs and french sign peace
watch a lot of ship movements
build duct/granary in towns with city potential (and culture buildings) and workers in the others

1380 AD (1):
64687 (933), japs 33825 (208)
kill some units, build some rails/irr

IBT:
toku offers peace straight up. decline

IBT:
french landing
we lose some conscrips to japan

1390 AD (3):
capture st. regis

IBT:
st. regis defending army gets attacked
st. regis resistors quelled

1395 AD (4):
almost lose army capturing yokohama
67575, japs 34453

IBT:
ships

1400 AD (5):
lose army capturing ise (sorry for that)
68557, japs 34652

notes:
please do not build settlers in potential cities, drafts are more useful
we should make peace with toku. selling some lux would enable us to rush more buildings

Cool, now we have an uninterrupted country, lets sign peace with Toku. Whether we declare on Abe to get salt back is up to whoever's next (jj, you ready?), but with 32ish turns left not much is going to stop us now.

Lets just try and optimise the draft disband and whipping tactics so we can shave a couple more turns of the date. Almost there! :D

EDIT: ooo, just seen Joan has more gold than she knows what to with. Perhaps we should work out a way to get some of it from her?

Is that allright or does someone want to move it before that?

Cheers jj. Do you think you could try play 10 turns? MB says he is going to close the game on 13th May. So we've basically got 30 turns to get through in a week.

The game won't be closed. I will just announce the result. Of course, if you haven't finished by then you will probably be awarded the wooden spoon. :mischief:

You can play out the game even if it takes forever and your final score will be updated.

We will be done before the deadline even if it means just Chunky and I have to finish it. ;)

The save at 1450AD (http://gotm.civfanatics.net/saves/sgotm6/Barbslinger_SG006_AD1450_01.SAV)

Preturn 1400- Peace with Japan for 2 gold. Get 60 gold from France for peace. Peace with England straight up. Rush a library. Land 4 cannon and cav at the Iroquois capitol.

IBT- Start building wealth in towns that have nothing to contribute over the next 30 –odd turns.

Turn 1 (1405) Attack a spear, musket and LB at Caughnawaga and liberate 15 gold. Don’t know if Hiawatha is on a boat, but don’t see any more of his towns. Whip a couple temples and rail.

IBT- America and France ally against Japan.

Turn 2 (1410) Focus on rails where we can get cities to 10 spt.

IBT- Ganogeh flips to us from the Americans. A few more towns to wealth.

Turn 3 (1415) Same stuff as turn 2.

IBT- Japan autorazes an American town.

Turn 4 (1420) Our RoP expires with Abe in 1 turn, so we’ll be heading in next turn.

IBT- America and Japan fighting

Turn 5 (1425) Declare on America. Capture Lindum 2 and Dacca each defended by a spear. Glanum 2 taken with musket defender.

IBT- New Veulamium flips to us from Japan. :)

Turn 6 (1430) Capture Baltimore and Amiens from Abe each defended by pike. Found Isca 2 and New Verulamium 2.

IBT- Watch Washington (George) die outside Bangalore. A lot of Babs and English in the area.

Turn 7 (1435) Now at 1008 cpt. Redline several American crusaders and kill all of them. Lose an elite knight against one of them.

IBT- Renew a silks deal with Hammi. Mil Academy done in Entremont. A bunch of temples come in.

Turn 8 (1440) Now at 1022 cpt. Clearing some jungle out.

IBT- Babylon finishes off the Indians. Lost a worker to an American knight.

Turn 9 (1445) Now at 1036 cpt. Kill the Knight and a couple others with him with an army. Found 3 more towns. Clearing more jungle out.

IBT- France captures Shantung from Japan. England building US.

Turn 10 (1450) Worker stuff. Score 4853, 78764 culture 1050 cpt. And done, 21 turns to go. :)

Post turn: Unless jj can play tomorrow, Chunky, why don’t you take it?

TimBentley
May 06, 2005, 09:25 PM
I can take it tonight (and wouldn't the rest of the game). In other words, I got it. I should be able to play 10.

TimBentley
May 07, 2005, 01:34 AM
I was only able to do 5 turns
Summary: from 78764 to 84423 culture, up to 1151cpt, 14 turns at current rate, we probably can cut it down to 13 turns

1450(0)-I cut out the single scientist at some point; I started a couple of markets and banks to increase income to possibly get RP, but I think rifles to speed builds would be better
29 cities whipped
Sold unnecessary barracks

IBT-Japan captured Iol from America

1455(1)-Found 3 cities, whip 12 cities

IBT-Iroquois, Japan sign peace

1460(2)-Found 3 cities, whip 13 cities
drop some cavs by Nora

1465(3)-Capture Nora without loss
Whip 6 cities
Sign peace with America, get New Curovernum, WM

1470(4)-Found 1 city, whip 8 cities

1475(5)-Whip 4 cities

Notes: I've left a settler unmoved (the other one I accidentally wasted a turn with)

Here is the save (http://gotm.civfanatics.net/saves/sgotm6/Barbslinger_SG006_AD1475_01.SAV).

Cool, i can't play til Monday night - revising for an exam on Monday at the moment! So if anyone wants to take it and play some more turns, or even finish it off that would be fine by me.

Very good, Tim. We'll leave it an open field for jj, el, or barbslinger to grab it this weekend if they want.

Even though we did fall apart a bit here and there I did enjoy this game. It was frustrating being in Despotism for the entire game, but I think that's probably the first time I've won a game without switching govt. Don't think i'll try it again though :D

Well done, whipping and all. Took longer than it should have, but better late than never as they say. I think I'll be sitting out SGOTM-7, so have fun with it!
