Oh, and we should really play the total reaslism mod.

A succession game works like this: Player A plays until the faction leader dies, passes the save on to player B who plays until the second faction leader dies, then player C plays until the third faction leader dies...etc. A succession of leaders.:)

We'll play whenever we can get a good number of players together, 5/6 would be about perfect. It'll probably take a couple of weeks to get through a full campaign.

Its up to version 5.1 ;)

It is a great mod, it just makes the whole game better. Its not up to date with the latest official patch though.

The idea in itself is good, but if you allow someone to play until the leader dies, you'll probably face the problem that only the first two or three players will play, and the game will be finished after that...

Hmm, I have never actually finished a campiagn, so I don't know how big of a problem that could be. We could play 20 turns each instead, I guess.

Ok, so I don't think we are gonna get anymore players. We have 3 players, you guys up for it? No mods etc, just vannilla 1.2.:)

Go to 'preferences.txt' in your RTW main folder and open it. Scroll down the list until you find this line: "first time play". Change it from 'FALSE' to 'TRUE'.

Viola, no more training crap.;)

OK, I think its time we got this game rolling.

Turn order, to avoid confusion:

-Darth Pugwash
-Oblivion
-Emp Napolean
-Nonconformist (?)

Each player plays until the faction leader dies, then passes on the save etc. You should also post a summary of what happened during your reign, to keep everyone up to date.:)

Ok, so here we go:

Medium difficulty, Julii faction

Flavius the Great, 270 BC- 249BC

Flavius became leader of the Jullii in 270, aged 49. His first task was to secure northern Italy from the stinking Gauls, and establish the Jullii as a major power in the region. By 264 BC Segesta, Medolium and Pavatum had been captured, and the Jullii had full control of northern Italy.

In 260, Flavius decided that the time had come to rid the world of the barbarian Gauls. He led a great army accross the Alps towards southern Gaul. During this campaign he would win many great victories. By the time of his death in 249 BC, he had become known throughout Rome as 'Flavius the Great'. He had conquered southern Gaul, and had been pushing north when he died.

Although he was a great military leader, Flavius did not ignore his domestic duties. Under his reign the cities of Arretum and Arminimum grew rapidly, and the infastructure of northern Italy was improved. Roads, traders and ports were built to help fill the treasury with gold. However, northern Italy and the newly conquered lands in Gaul were left weakly defended, and the Jullii navy not built a single new ship in 20 years.

Some notes: I think we might have expanded too quickley and overstretched our armies. Apart from the full stack led by Flavius, all we have is afew town watch.

FYI: we are at war with the Spanish and the Germans and we are allied with the Greeks.

Medium difficulty, Julii faction

You really should have choosen a faction OTHER than Roman. (Which everyone has played), I found Medium difficulty kinda weak
P.S post some screenies

Too late to join?

Darth_Pugwash

Sure you can join, Xerxes. We need as many players as we can get.

noncon - have you got the 1.2 patch, or modded the game at all?

Napoleon - download the zip file, then extract the save to the 'saves' folder in your main RTW folder. You should then be able to load the game like normal.

I think we could skip Oblivions turn, since the save has been up for a week and he has not posted in this thread in more than 2 weeks. So, your turn, Napoleon.

I had a good run:

Conqured the Rest of Northern Gaul

Started on Spain

Italian Homeland was bult up

Main Armies are:

One in Spain, One in Germany poised for an attack

Army almost ready in the capital and surrounding area, could be used to go north East of Italy

Oops, sorry not to have answered before, I was hooked on WoW ^^

Thanks, but I have to decline the offer. I'm on WoW, like I said, and additionnally, I'm used to play with modded games, which would be incompatible with the regular savegame.

I'd like to join if you finish up this one and want to do it again. I suggest Pontus, Hard difficulty, maybe Seleucids if you're against Pontus, I just love them.

And I tried RTR, but it had way too many bugs to be worth it, it made it unplayable.

Where did you get that idea from? Oh, I'm guessing you're playing without doing anything to the game. All you have to do is go into your files, and change a few things, and you can play as any faction. Even the senate, although it'll crash the game.
