View Full Version : New Unit: Tecpacuauhtli (February 19, 2005)
utahjazz7 Feb 19, 2005, 08:33 PM Here is the Aztec/Mesoamerican Swordsman. I know the name is a mouthful, but that doesn't mean your fingers can't type it. ;) I hope you all like it. Sorry, no animation preview this time.

utahjazz7 Feb 22, 2005, 09:55 PM Is this a historical unit? If yes, do you have any information about it?
No, it's not a historical unit, but it is based on discussions about how traditional mesoamerican weapons and such might have developed into iron weapons. It's supposed to represent a sort of swordsman for mesoamerican civs. It's based on a drawing by ShirroKobbure. There was a thread started by Sword_of_Geddon, if you want to find information to make a civiloPedia entry for yourself.
Snorken Feb 26, 2005, 10:09 AM Looks good! :)
krazydude Feb 26, 2005, 11:03 AM Looks very cool! I like his shield ;)
joeskip Feb 28, 2005, 05:47 PM since we are on the subject of non-historic meso-american units, I think some cavalry units for the mayans, aztecs, and inca would be much appreciated by many people. I know these civs didn't have horses, but I don't think they had iron-working either, so lets not let that limit us. I for one would be satisfied with something like a jaguar warrior riding a horse as an aztec knight, or a chasqui scout riding a llama :lol: Great work over all Utahjazz and here's to more units of a similar nature :beer:
Xen Feb 28, 2005, 06:36 PM :cool: Cool :) :cool:
Norsk_Viking Mar 02, 2005, 05:56 PM really good, i have to see animations!

I completely agree that we need "knight" units and to a lesser extent "cavalry" units for the Mesoamerican and South American civs. I've been behind this idea for awhile now.
However, Chasqui Scout riding a llama = no. That would be very... wrong, considering that llama's are not riding beasts, and definitely not war mounts. It'd be more ridiculous than mule or donkey mounted troops. :p
ShiroKobbure Mar 06, 2005, 03:12 PM what about a lama chariot? ^ ^;;;;
also knights dont have to ride anything. Knights are just relgious(usually) warriors at the top or near top of the social ladder. Thats why I use uthajazz's jaguar warrior(because its better and more realistic than civ3's) as the aztec replacement for the knight
ShiroKobbure Mar 06, 2005, 03:13 PM but kodoma, horses werent always used for ridding, couldnt over maybe 500 years or so of breeding make the lama rideable?
joeskip Mar 06, 2005, 07:02 PM @ master kodama
I was just joking about the llama
@ shirokobbure
I agree that a knight does not neccessarily = a mounted unit, but I generally prefer mounted units for units with higher movement ratings.
ShiroKobbure Mar 06, 2005, 07:32 PM americans were great runners that solves your movenment problem
the100thballoon Mar 15, 2005, 07:26 PM Eagle Knife :goodjob:
