is there an election for mayor?

When you signed up in the citizen registry list, you could give a name of a city. When the city is founded, and you are next (it goes elected officials first, then citizens), the city will be named what you called it. You are then the mayor of the city. You do not have to create a thread for the city, nor do you even have to do anything. It just adds to the fun of the game.
