Roles and Responsibilities - Leads discussions crossing over multiple areas of different Consuls. He/she will also decide on any strategic tasks not designated to another consul in this constitution.

I accept, and thank you for your support.

Following through on my pre-game promise, and in a largely symbolic gesture, I nominate Cyc. :D

Questions for the candidates:
1. Do you plan to begin game playing immediatly or wait until the constitution is finished?
2. Do you think of the presidental position more as a discussion leader or primary game player?
3. Do you plan to allow other people in the CoC to play or will you play most of the sessions?
4. The big question: online, offline, or a mixture of turn sessions?

4. The big question: online, offline, or a mixture of turn sessions?

1. I think Creation day and some strategic discussions can begin. Whether play can continue depends on exactly what rules are there and what ones are not.

2. Both aspects of the position are important, but shepherding discussions is the area which distinguishes a good President from an average one.

3. As a main proponent of the idea to rotate DP duties, I support using the CoC to keep the game running, especially for its ability to run different time zones.

4. The first term play sessions are the important ones with respect to Demogame culture, citizen oversight, and reminders to the DP. I would expect to play online.

I would also ask about the following for the Creation Day.

What do the Presidential Candidate think about this 10-point checklist

1. Make it right the first time (World creation)
2. Avoid first turn poll for all directions with first settler, but boil it down to 3-4, with clear criteria for winner in the same poll with no further repolls.
3. Make sure Naming Office is a Presidential Responsibility, as all game-related activities must be held by accountable offices (Ravensfire said this)
Naming is more important than any other game, since people without C3C need to access as much information as possible in the forums, and the citizen rights.
4. Constantly evaluate this first trial constitution and be open to amendments
5. You are free to name our first city with no prior poll or discussion
6. Mind the delicate nature of new intra-organizational relationships from new setup
7. Avoid letting the Judiciary dominate the workings of the Executive (Division of Powers)
8. Avoid letting angry citizens terrorize officials but listen to fair citizen requests
9. Respect opposition, even though it may counter the core vision
10. If we become Ottomans, may I call you Pasha, Kalif, Sultan or Grand Vezeer?

1. Make it right the first time (World creation)

Wouldn't that take the fun out of the chat? :p

2. Avoid first turn poll for all directions with first settler, but boil it down to 3-4, with clear criteria for winner in the same poll with no further repolls.

Depends on location, but would be surprised if there are more than 2 spots to consider.

3. Make sure Naming Office is a Presidential Responsibility, as all game-related activities must be held by accountable offices (Ravensfire said this)
Naming is more important than any other game, since people without C3C need to access as much information as possible in the forums, and the citizen rights.

It will get an appropriate level of focus. As I have stated many times, there is a difference between intentional acts and unintentional -- intentional will be dealt with by restaffing, and unintentional will be dealt with by fixing the problem.

4. Constantly evaluate this first trial constitution and be open to amendments

My committment is to maximizing positives and minimizing negatives of the entire nation, whether they support this experiment or not. If something causes a lot of pain then I will help with a solution, and if something works well then I will defend it against fringe elements for the common good of all. :D

5. You are free to name our first city with no prior poll or discussion

To say that another way, input is welcome but is not required. :D

6. Mind the delicate nature of new intra-organizational relationships from new setup

It will be really interesting to also see how inter-personal relationships affect the new inter-organizational flow.

7. Avoid letting the Judiciary dominate the workings of the Executive (Division of Powers)

A proactive approach is best. I would prefer to resolve disputes between officials, if any develop, via mediating towards a compromise. If something does go to the Judiciary, I will provide necessary input on what was intended. This said, it is not within the power of the President to ignore Judicial rulings, and the Judiciary must be allowed to perform their offices as they see fit.

8. Avoid letting angry citizens terrorize officials but listen to fair citizen requests

Abusive behaviour is for the mods to handle, although as a concerned citizen the "report post" button is available. All citizens have the same right to make their views known, and I respect those views and am prepared to make adjustments as necessary. :D

9. Respect opposition, even though it may counter the core vision

See 2nd half of #8.

10. If we become Ottomans, may I call you Pasha, Kalif, Sultan or Grand Vezeer?

You can call me Dave. Don't know who those other people are...

That, of course, depends on where "here" is. :)

The ones I play myself would be either late night or early morning MST (GMT-7). My plan would be to schedule 2-3 chats at times I can't play but are more friendly to the general public, and see how it works to have someone from the CoC play on a scheduled basis.
