this is sort of stupid...but when I try downloading some mods from 3ddownloads.com, the popup that comes up says "key is invalid"...i tried adjusting my cookies and what not, but it still does not work? Can anybody help me with this, cause i really want to download some of these awesome mods!

I don't have an answer to your question, but I did a quick browse of 3ddownloads, looking for civ3 mods, and most of them are available right here! Just look in the Creation & Customization (http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=46) forum.

Yeah I've seen TF link to there for DL for mods.
