Good, but the final era tie looks wrong, and the Mutton Chops don't stand out.

Peter the great should look more swedish. The Czars were swedish descendents.

Skin tone in this is probably a bit too yellow/dark.

Yeah the tie is bad, but thats the only modern prop I had. As for you bjornlo a little late for that once agian. But I do agree I didnt capture him at all on this one. So I appologize. So its best for you to say something before I spend 4 hours rendering and uploaded it

Ares de Borg
Mar 07, 2005, 06:56 AM
I second the request for the pcxs... This one was a LH that I always wanted, someone make pcxs please.

Fox Mccloud
Mar 08, 2005, 01:46 PM
Yeah, we need pcxs. Good leader head. As soon as you supply pcxs, (Whatever that is) I can use this.

Goldflash
Mar 08, 2005, 02:47 PM
The PCX files are the static images that appear throughout the game, like in the foregin advisor window and in the end scene

Fox Mccloud
Mar 09, 2005, 08:39 AM
@Goldflash, yes, we need that before I replace Cathrine.

Off topic, What did Cathrine do, anyway?

ShiroKobbure
Mar 09, 2005, 10:03 AM
well for one she is german. During her reign, she expanded Russia's borders to the Black Sea and into central Europe. She promoted westernization and modernization though within the context of her autocratic control over Russia and increasing the control of landed gentry over serfs. At the same time she promoted education and the Enlightenment among the elite.

..contrary to popular belief, though, she was not crushed to death whilst attempting sex with a horse. Which is a shame, as that would have been rather an impressive way to go.

Snorken
Mar 09, 2005, 11:44 AM
How did she die then?

Plotinus
Mar 09, 2005, 12:50 PM
Oh, of natural causes I think - I believe she was found collapsed in her chamber or something. Quite boring, really. I seem to recall reading some account which suggested that she died in the bathroom, like Elvis.

Snorken
Mar 09, 2005, 12:55 PM
Ok... It would've been much funnier if she was crushed to death by a horse while having sex with it, though...

ShiroKobbure
Mar 14, 2005, 02:13 AM
due to the nature of my work, this would also double as lenin, I know many people on that thread wanted lenin. But presonaly I would say peter is better, I mean he actually did rule russia and for a much longer time

Great, thank you. Now Catherine has to go - EVERYWHERE. :-)

Ares de Borg

The pics show black in game, so do those of Ramses. You've got a palette problem here.

Ares de Borg
Apr 02, 2005, 03:12 PM
Found the error: You saved them in RGB mode, not in Ind. colors.

Ares de Borg
Apr 02, 2005, 03:15 PM
I'll fix this quickly, hold on.

I DID forget something: The Civiliopedia-pics.
Here they are:

ok updated the PCXs

Ares de Borg

There's one bug though:
The advisor.pcx shows up in a black square around the circle. Maybe someone third can help?

ShiroKobbure
Apr 02, 2005, 04:04 PM
that was jorde...

jorde
Apr 02, 2005, 04:44 PM
Hmm.. perhaps I made a mistake when transfering the images from Paint (yeah, I know it's pathetic, but it's something I can use easily for doing this thing :P) to Corel, as I did with Tomas Masaryk's PCXs (which RUDY told me)

I'll check the files when I get home, and upload a corrected version afterwards (unless I can't find the error there)

jorde
Apr 02, 2005, 04:58 PM
Well, I managed to check the file here, and the size looks alright (which was my main hypothesis). Can you post a screenshot of the advisors' screen so I may have a better guess at what the problem might be?

Ares de Borg
Apr 02, 2005, 05:15 PM
I just post the corrected files ;-)

The old ones had black squares around the round leaderpics in the diplomacy screen. Those should do the trick (Ramses and Peter in one pack).

Ares de Borg

I think the problem was an interference between the black (transparent) color between the "bubbles". Civ either ignored the transparency or accepted it. In the last case, the black color in the Leaderheads went transparent, too (Ramses' beard, for example), and ruined the appearance. I avoided this by choosing pink as transparent color.

So you say I can use ANY colour for the transparence colour? In that case, that would avoid some problems which may arise in some leaderheads (Vlad for example, as the frames are too dark, so there's a lot of black colour in them)

Ares de Borg
Apr 02, 2005, 05:34 PM
I wouldn't put an oath on that. Try the pink color like in Civ3/Art/Cursor.pcx, this works very well.

Bjornlo
Apr 02, 2005, 05:42 PM
I'm pretty sure Ares de Borg is right. His comments match my experiance. It seems any color can be used for transparency. It is the position in the palette that seems to matter.

jorde
Apr 02, 2005, 05:47 PM
So it should be in the last position of the palette to work?

Bjornlo
Apr 02, 2005, 06:21 PM
So it should be in the last position of the palette to work?
That is the way it works for me. Except in photoshop, it is not the last position but the first. I think Photoshop displays the palette backwards.

jorde
Apr 02, 2005, 09:18 PM
Do you know how it's displayed on Corel Photo Paint?

Bjornlo

Do you know how it's displayed on Corel Photo Paint?
Download one of the civilopedia icons I did for PTW, I know they all have position 1 set to ff00ff and position 2 to 00ff00, which is magenta and bright green. In photoshop this is position 1 & 2. I most other programs these are the last two positions. You could see where those colors show up in your paint program. In some of my older items I used whatever color in that palette position and just knew to not draw with that color.
I recently bought Paint Shop Pro off ebay (to get Animation Shop). I read somewhere that Corel photo paint was based off PaintShop, do you know if this is true? If it is, I can install Paintshop and have a look for you... otherwise I don't have access Corel Paint and so I can't answer your question more accurately.

Don't worry. I just realized I can find out by myself in which position I should place the transparent colour, just by opening any Civ file

Here are the cultB.pcx, they needed to be fixed as well:
