View Full Version : Cartography & Screenshot Request Thread
Chieftess Feb 25, 2005, 08:53 PM This thread is for world maps, provincial maps, and any requested city screenshots. When posting pictures, there are 2 rules:
1 - Naming Convention. Use DG6_(AD/BC)(Year)_some description. This is to prevent using the same filename and posting the wrong picture.
2 - Gridlines. When posting screenshots of cities, provinces, etc., please use the gridlines. This makes it easier to tell the tiles apart, especially if you have an unfamilar terrain-set.
Remember that you can request screenshots of cities and provinces in this thread.

Not much, but I couldn't really do anything because my Civ is broken currently. I had to work off of Dave's SC, which wasn't that high quality.
Ashburnham Mar 04, 2005, 09:09 PM When you make pictures that good, you really don't need to apologize, MSTK. ;)
Dominik Mar 07, 2005, 05:32 PM No offense, but you're trying too hard. Might be just me, but I want something simple and legible.

This is mainly in part at my inability to obtain proper screenshots because of my broken Civ :(

snipelfritz Mar 14, 2005, 04:56 PM Quick request-
Could either of our skilled cartographers make a map for me. It needs to be like the one below, but I only need the tiles labelled 2 and 7. I ask you keep them the same colors (tile 2=red, tile 7=purple). If you could, please make this as quickly as possible, and pm it to me, preferably sometime tonight.

snipelfritz Mar 14, 2005, 09:59 PM thank you very much. Its much neater than mine.
mad-bax Mar 15, 2005, 03:15 AM I would like to request the construction and maintenance of a map(s) that records forest chops. This is to keep a record of which tiles have been chopped since we only get the shields from forestry operations once. 1 Map for each province would be adequate.

I'm not so sure I understand what you are saying. Do you want little mmarkers where forests once stood?
mad-bax Mar 16, 2005, 01:20 AM Yes. So that we can chop forests that give shields, without chopping forests that don't. It's important later in the game, and particularly in the corrupt parts of our empire, but the record needs to be kept from the beginning of the game. We could have 1500 tiles at the end of the game and a 1000 of those could be planted and chopped (say). That's 10,000 uncorrupted shields.
Furiey Mar 16, 2005, 02:00 AM The forest map is one I've always intended to make in my own games, but never actually got round to - I too would like to see one as mad-bax suggested.
truckingpete Mar 18, 2005, 09:11 PM Here is the latest World Map. Once I was done with it, I forgot the gridlines :( So if you need anything, request it here and I will make your request w/ the gridlines.
Thanks!

Chieftess Mar 28, 2005, 06:25 AM The globe was made in GIMP2 (very buggy, and watch out for memory leaks when it crashes! Entire programs remain in memory!). There's a thread about it in C3C.

Lol, you got that from my Out of the Rubble series, eh?
Anyway, it helps that before you make the globe you scale the image to about a 2:1 ratio, so that it actually fits the globe without the white bars.
DaveShack Mar 28, 2005, 06:38 PM Japan was met between Persia and Byzantines, so we can surmise they are N of Persia.
