In previous demogames, the Cartography office deals with the publication of maps. In RL, they deal with map making. But in the demogame, they deal with taking composite screenshots to make one screenshot for use as a map.

Well, the minumum you would need is MS Paint, which is already installed in your Windows OS program. Its usualy best to get PSP. You dont need some fancy smancy PSP9, check out the link in Chieftess's signature for a copy (Its a demo that does not expire unlike the latest PSPs where they expire for a month)

That will work. As long as you know how to use the selection tool (layers and transparency make it a bit easier), you can put together screenshots of a larger map. Take a look at past demogame cartography threads. (in the archvies, they're either in the main forum, or government forum)

There are many ways the Information Office could be handled, depending on how much the volunteer(s) want to put into it.

Coordinating the activities of volunteers who make in-game information available to the citizens who don't have Conquests. This aspect is even more important if we have officials who don't have Conquests and therefore cannot obtain the information themselves.
A clearinghouse for information requests from the public, usually those who don't have conquests. Such a clearinghouse would be able to help route requests to the right official, and keep track of what is being requested.
As an oversight office which monitors the information posted by officials, encourages officials to post their information, rates the information provided as a service to the voters, and other watchdog type activities.

I am hoping for much more interest in the Polling Commission. I would like to see a minimum of 4 members for this important group.

With that said, count me in. :)

I urge the Polling Standards Commission to ask moderator for

Polling 101 SHOW US YOUR CARDS thread, which has several rulesets on polling standards
presented and discussed in a summary.

I would prefer the polling commission to have non-elected members for division of powers and independence reasons.

The important thing is for the commission to have enough members that no commissioner ever needs to make a recommendation on her / his own poll.

Any comments on my other question? Should it be an office with an appointed head, or a citizen's group which elects its own leadership?

Provolution

It should be an appointment of citizens excluding elected position members.

MSTK also applied for the position of cartographer, in another thread. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=113328)

TP & MSTK, would either of you like to sign up for another position?

I would like to take part in the information office. I have C3C and fairly good knowledge of the game. Since this is my demogame, I rather be a member than an officer.

I'm a glutton - sign me up to run the info office, DS. Got a couple of spreadsheets from previous DG's that I'll use to keep information in.

Initial plan is summary info for:
-- Culture
-- Economics
-- Population
-- Military

Updates will be a day or two after each turn chat, and will be screenshots of spreadsheets and graphs.

Am I also selected to be part of the Information Office? As an officer, not a leader.
