View Full Version : Three. The Fanatannian Real Estate Market
Provolution Feb 28, 2005, 08:55 PM Three. The Fanatannian Real Estate Market
Auctions are started by the interested buyer, and starts at 40 G, with 5 g increments for new bids, lasting 72 hours from the posting of the first thread.
The runner up will end up with the remaining tiles of the city after the winner picked his tiles.
Each citizen receives 9 tiles, these musted be marked as one cohesive area without splitting the map for the other citizen. One tile must be given away in tax. If a player is a mayor in the city, that player will receive the tax.
Mark your territory in your company color and the tax in yellow.

Stuck_as_a_Mac Mar 19, 2005, 08:24 PM I start auctioning for half of donsignia, starting at 45 gold (40 minimum). The auction will last for 3 days, 72 hours from this posting.
I bid 40g and tell everyone to keep their grimey hands off of it. Seriously.
truckingpete Mar 19, 2005, 10:51 PM I bet 60 Gold, gotcha :)
65 gold :D
Or should I bet for donsignia?? :)
Provolution Mar 19, 2005, 10:56 PM 70 Gold :) Donsignia could be an option, but remember, then you would not afford your named city. As a runner up, you get the second set of tiles.
Truckingpete, I also know you are good for only 80 gold, and I wonder if you wanted to buy the slot in your named city first, as you got that privilege.
If you don't buy it, you forfeit it. Same applies to named unit, if you want to sponsor that later on, you need to evaluate..
However, you got 80 to play with so do as you please. :)

Provolution Mar 19, 2005, 11:09 PM Pete, write that into the registry, real estate in your named city.
truckingpete Mar 19, 2005, 11:11 PM Pete, write that into the registry, real estate in your named city.
Okay doing that now.
I got 1 question, you know u get 100 gold, is that mean for ALL the betting things or what, little confused on that part.
Thanks!

EDIT: I think I found it. Is the answer to my question, YES?
Provolution Mar 19, 2005, 11:16 PM Pete, yes, 100 is the start capital. you already gambled on contacting Civs. So you got 80 left. buying your city privileges costs 40. This allows room for 40 gold on other bets.
I will cancel out your bids if you want your own city, so you are not stuck with the worse side of Camelot. Up to you.

Yes I will do this....:D
Thanks!
Provolution Mar 19, 2005, 11:23 PM ok good, Trucking Pete cancels bid on Camelot, Camelot is sold for 40 gold.
MOTH Mar 21, 2005, 08:34 AM I start auctioning for half of donsignia, starting at 45 gold (40 minimum). The auction will last for 3 days, 72 hours from this posting.
I bid 40g and tell everyone to keep their grimey hands off of it. Seriously.
I will bid 50G for half of Donsignia. I understand that this auction closes in about 36 hours based on the timestamp from SaaM's post.
MOTH Mar 21, 2005, 09:37 AM Provolution,
A question on the number of tiles purchased, on aquistion of unclaimed tiles, and on income. Post 1 here indicates 9 tiles with one as tax. The overall document indicates 6 tiles will be purchased. We are also targetting a medium dense build averaging 13 usuable tiles per city. I think that we should be limiting these purchases to 6 tiles instead of 9.
I would also like to suggest that any tiles that remain "unclaimed" after any nearby cities have been founded and sold should also be available for purchase.
I don't feel that either of these would produce any significant taint at this point in time as the real estate purchases have just begun.
The last point is on income. I know you mention some 40 turns for renewing purchaces. I'm unclear on what this means and how it works. I am also unclear on how income per 40 turns works.
Provolution Mar 21, 2005, 09:51 AM I figured out we announce all income from real estates by the beginning of each term, 1 in the month, to match the electoral cycle and to present the market shares in pie charts and pillar diagrams. Regarding the tile distribution to buyers, we give initially 9 tiles each minus tax. For overlaps, the market prices will naturally regulate down for the second city that get less tiles (that is tiles not worked on by tile A.). However, should the governor and/or the Mayors decide to reorganize city boundaries by the beginning of the first week of the term, a compensation should be paid to the loser of the tiles based on the average income per tile X the number of tiles transferred to new city. About tiles outside city zones, I will set up a separate market for that for Term 2, called the Colonial Company Market. Remember, I only add market rules that are in line with the time period we are economically simulating. Since we are naturally phasing out the Civ contact market, we will add on a Religious Market (Usury) and a Colonial Market for Term 2. For simplicity and playability reasons I only add one new market to the game each term, where we will go for 7 in Term 2., 8 in Term 3, 9 in Term 4, 10 in term 5 and possibly 11 in Term 6. . The plan is to remove one and add two markets on a regular basis pro term.
For example, Western Camelotia will pay out 240 Gold in the beginning of Term 2.
This sum will change, as we add new market indicators for future terms.
I will also poll alternate market rules for real estate and natural resources, so everybody got a say.
Finally, we should keep the number of players at 20 max active for book-keeping reasons. However, bankrupcy is a permanent ban, an inactivity leads to forced
auctions emulating hostile aquisitions /predatorial take overs conducted as an auction for the companies of inactive players. 1 month inactivity qualifies for an auction (Expropriation, Fire Sale).
Stuck_as_a_Mac Mar 21, 2005, 06:27 PM With my newfound wealth, I bid another 20g on this, placing it at 70g.

MOTH Mar 21, 2005, 08:08 PM Dearest Stuck,
We can easily keep this up until I break your bank as I've got somewhat more cash resources than you. The double whammy of Iron and Gold is just to much to let pass. I would like to propose that our investment houses collude on the Donsignia real estate market and decide on an equitable and cheap division.
I therefore propose the following:
1. I will reduce my bid to 40G for the "cheaper" half of Donsignia.
2. You will reduce your bid to 45G for the "better" half.
3. The "better" half will exclude the Gold tile and include an additional coastal tile.
4. The "cheaper" half will include the Cattle tile and will also exclude the Gold tile.
5. If anyone else bids on Donsignia we will agree to share resources to drive them from the market.
Please let me know if this is agreeable, otherwise I will need to bid at least 80 and as high as 130G.
Sincerely,
MOTH
Proprietor, MOTH's Spotlights.
Provolution Mar 21, 2005, 08:10 PM the bids are indeed binding :) so it stands 70-50 now. But still a good deal for both. Remember, this is a real auction.

As binding as your bid of 70 for Camelot or truckingpete's bid of 65? I should be able to withdraw my bid in the same manner as truckingpete and then bid anew at 40 leaving Stuck at 45.
Stuck and I will just beat on the auctioneer until we get our way, same as we will do to anyone that interfere's with my little proposal. ;)
Provolution Mar 21, 2005, 08:52 PM The difference is, Trucking Pete had no clue, I mean, he did not know that he would lose out his named city if he bet on that. But to keep the peace, I can throw in those extra 30 Gold to balance it out. :D For Pete's Sake.
MOTH Mar 21, 2005, 09:02 PM Ok, just trying to make sure we are all playing by the same rules. No need to put that extra 30 in now, but I would have bid something on Camelot if that hadn't been decided in the middle of the (EST) night.
Ok, to update on the Stuck/MOTH Collusion bid then. Stuck has currently bid 70 and MOTH has bid 50 and threatened to break Stuck's bank.
MOTH's new proposal: I will agree to not up my bid if you agree to exclude the Gold tile from both halfs of Donsignia. The Iron is just to juicy for me to give up as cheaply as you can afford it without some concession.
Provolution Mar 21, 2005, 09:09 PM Good MOTH, that is in the spirit of the market game, and interaction and collusion makes the game more interesting. Again, I would favor a well done private market model in future DGs, then we could play with a lower level, since internal economic interests would hamper external strategy, like real life.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Mar 21, 2005, 09:28 PM @MOTH- I can live with that. Give the city the gold tile and keep it from both of us. I still get the iron, thats fine.
SaaM
MOTH Mar 23, 2005, 08:08 AM Looks like we are all set with this.
SaaM now owns the better half of donsignia including the Iron.
MOTH now owns the other half including the Cattle.
The Gold is to remain unclaimed at this point in time.
SaaM,
If you can update your deed with a revised 9 tiles I will then post a deed for my half.
Thanks - MOTH
