View Full Version : Four. The Fanatannian Strategic and Luxury Resources Market
Provolution Feb 28, 2005, 08:56 PM Four. The Fanatannian Strategic and Luxury Resources Market
Each registered trading house is allowed to nominate one resource forecast per Term. The player need to nominate this forecast as a betting area, and then everyone is free to bet on it.
For example.
I could guess we would connect only two wines within the end of term one, which is quite probable, so the bets would have pretty good odds, but low pay outs. Maybe we can say the chance is 10:9, garnering a 10 % profit if it works.
However, every bet needs a counter-bet in order do define odds.
Provolution Mar 04, 2005, 12:33 AM Futures added for Ivy Trading House (SAAM)
Wine (Favorite) gives Ivy Trading House a future income of 10 for the establishment of our city, and another then for connecting the other wine with a road.
SAAM, do not add these till the city is founded or road connected to the other wine.
A total profit of 20 Gold.
Ashburnham Mar 06, 2005, 05:50 AM Just a nitpick, nowhere in the Market Simulation description did it mention that our "favorite resource" pick would influence the game. Now, this fact is slowly coming to light. I don't plan on changing my pick, but you could've explained the way it works before we had all picked out resource. I'm sure the guy who picked uranium is kicking himself right now..
Provolution Mar 06, 2005, 06:09 AM Ash, I have added a multiplier for late techs as well, so oil and uranium, as well as saltpeter and aluminum will come pretty strong out.
Provolution Mar 17, 2005, 02:14 AM Bets for forecasting our strategic and luxury resource placements must be placed before this sunday 1200 GMT.
MOTH Mar 18, 2005, 03:26 PM How does this work? Do I need to bet if a specific city will get say Iron or Horses or just whether or not we will have access to them?
Or does this primarily apply to my favorite resource? If donsignia has Whale's in its extended range do I just need to wait for expansion to get a win?
Provolution Mar 18, 2005, 04:57 PM You can bet on any resource, but someone got to bet against you for you to cash in their win. You can bet generally for the nation, or for one specific city.
So basically we should challenge each other, that could be the way to do it.
MOTH Mar 19, 2005, 08:36 AM I would like to bet 5 Gold that Iron will be within the hills or mountains chain between Donsignia and the Dutch border. I willing to make this bet twice (for a total of 10 Gold) if there are 2 takers Any takers?
Provolution Mar 19, 2005, 11:04 AM MOTH let me see the map :) I can afford to lose now that I won the forecast market. OKay MOTH, I bet against you, 2X5. I can afford it.
MOTH, you got to bet for Iron around Donsignia, or Roosting Tree, make your pick. Or Camelot for that lone mountain.

A friendly, well defined wager.
Chieftess Mar 19, 2005, 06:53 PM I'm with Stuck. I say 40g there's iron in them thar hills! ;)
BTW, we'll know this turn if we decide to trade for Iron Working, which we'll need.
I bet on iron to the south-east.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Mar 19, 2005, 06:59 PM The defined area (as agreed upon by Provo and SaaM):
the 8 mountain/hill tiles beneath the horses. This includes the gold, making it 7 possible tiles.
SaaM
NOTE: I am not sure if the city itself rests upon a hill, but if it does it is included in the wager as well, so if iron is found there the payoff is the same.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Mar 19, 2005, 07:15 PM edit: reducing bet to 20g, buying 6 tiles of Donsigina. Going for broke.
Provolution Mar 19, 2005, 10:20 PM CT, you got to register and bet for Iron, I up that ante if you do so.
Chieftess Mar 20, 2005, 06:11 AM Just registered.
Does the bet have to be specific? Or a general area?
Provolution Mar 20, 2005, 06:44 AM You need to mention a city tile coverage, like Donsignia or Roosting Tree's.
You can also pick some tiles in a range, but no too many, mark them off in a map screen like we did.
Chieftess Mar 20, 2005, 06:50 AM Is it just me, or is this game gonna be DG2 all over again? ;)
MOTH Mar 21, 2005, 08:11 AM MOTH let me see the map :) I can afford to lose now that I won the forecast market. OKay MOTH, I bet against you, 2X5. I can afford it.

Ok, I am betting that there will be iron in any tile within expanded radius of Donsignia to have Iron. 10G at even odds with Provo.
DaveShack Mar 21, 2005, 11:44 AM There is iron in the hills SE of Donsignia.
Provolution Mar 21, 2005, 04:08 PM ok, I lost 10 gold to MOTH, 20 gold to SAAM and 10 Gold to CT. Darn, 40 Gold out of the window, did you guys sneak peak ?

I don't even own C3C. I was mainly trying to play odds. We haven't seen that many mountain/hill ranges so I was hoping that the Iron would find its way to our area. I was actaully thinking that the odds were bad, but hey it was only 10G so I didn't really care.
Provolution Mar 21, 2005, 04:35 PM HAHA Moth, you are not guilty as you don't own C3C, I was thinking about CT (that guessed alkl civ forevasts last DG) and SAAM, that wanted to bet as much as 40 prior to 0 turn Turnchat, so please go ahead. Hey, but congrats, I am ten gold less and you ten more and odds were about 45-55 & :D I lost, but I am still financially strong.
Provolution Mar 21, 2005, 05:03 PM Payouts from the Fanatannian Economy
Chieftess 10 Gold
MOTH 10 Gold
SAAM 20 Gold
Gold Lost
Provolution 40 Gold
