Strider Mar 06, 2005, 05:01 PM Your local election office will accept any pre-nomination/debate questions you will like to submit, or answer any questions about the election cycle.
Current Election Cycle:

(President, Vice-President, Department Leader,
Judiciary, Provincial Governor, Deputy) simultaneously,
nor shall have more than one accepted nomination at the
commencement of the general election.

X. Elections
1. Nominations and Debate
a. Nominations will be created by the Election Office 7 days prior
to the end of the month. Citizens may nominate themself or
another citizen in this thread. Citizens may also post pre-
nominations in the Election Office thread if they will not be
present during the nomination period. This nomination thread
should contain a description of the office.
b. All debates will be within the nomination thread, and will
continue through the end of the election cycle. Any citizen may
post questions for the candidates to answer. Candidates may answer
or not answer as they wish.
c. A nomination is not considered Accepted until the candidate
makes an explicit post. All self-nominations are considered
Accepted unless otherwise stated.
2. Election Polls
a. Election polls will be created by the Election Office 3 days
after the Nomination threads are created. These polls will contain
the names of all Accepted candidates for the office, a description
of the office, a link to the nomination thread, be set to run for
3 days and be marked private.
b. Should a citizen Accept multiple nominations, and does not
explicitly clarify which office they wish to run for, the Election
Office will use the first office they Accepted.
c. The citizen with the most votes at the close of the poll is the
winner of the election. Should two or more candidates tie at the end of the election poll with the same number of votes, a runoff election of two days duration will be conducted with the tied candidates only. This process shall continue until one candidate receives the most votes.
3. General
a. The Election Cycle will run from the first nomination thread is
opened until the last runoff poll closes.
b. All threads and polls should be posted at approximately 00:00
GMT on the correct day.

Ill besure to nominate you for the bench when the time comes ;).
Tboy Mar 20, 2005, 02:53 PM I'd like to pre-nominate myself for director of expansion, and I accept.
Tboy Mar 20, 2005, 02:56 PM And I second the pre-nomination for MHCarver as Judge Advocate.
DaveShack Mar 20, 2005, 10:55 PM I'd like to pre-nominate myself for director of expansion, and I accept.
Are you planning to be absent during the nomination period? That's the real reason the pre-nomination process is available, and the people may respond better to your candidacy if you self-nominate in the actual nomination therad.
Tboy Mar 21, 2005, 11:30 AM Yes, I am going to be absent, DaveShack.
Nobody Mar 24, 2005, 01:05 AM hi, i was just wondering when we will elect the governor of the second province, as it will proberly come into exsistance during the next term, could we elect them now? (i want the job) or will we have a snap election?
MOTH Mar 24, 2005, 07:33 AM @Nobody,
I think there is a law on province creation. The first governor of the 2nd province will probably be appointed unless the creation times well with the end of the second term. Check out the laws for the details.
DaveShack Mar 24, 2005, 10:14 AM Would it be possible to create a nomination tracker for this term? Thanks in advance. :D
Nobody Mar 24, 2005, 02:48 PM i just want to name the province

I posted my thread in the citizens forum before I read this.
Check here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=115164)
The election office is run by voluntary staff right? If it is, I'd like to join up. I've already got a nomination tracker going.

Welcome to the staff then :). Were have to coordinate our efforts to make the election office run even more efficiently.
Not a 100% sure if I can appoint new staff to the election office (and if so, does that mean that your below me?) or does that fall completely under the presidents jurisdiction.
Anyway, don't worry about it to much, I doubt Daveshack will fight me over it.

LeeT911 Apr 23, 2005, 05:45 PM Nomination Tracker for Term 3 has been posted.
Here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=2717825#post2717825).
DaveShack Apr 23, 2005, 06:00 PM One thing that has been missing from nominations this game is a clearly posted end date/time for nominations. It's a lot of work and I'm hesitant to ask, but if the first post in each thead said when noms close it would be helpful.
When do nominations end? Before the closing time of the pending amendment which eliminates the Director of Commerce, or after? FYI the amendment poll closes April 25 at 11:29pm forum time, which appears to be GMT-7, making it April 26 at 06:29 in GMT.

Nominations will end April 25th, and elections will end April 28.
This will give us two days before the start of the new term to manage any amendments, elect deputies, etc.
Edit: I'm also working on the Nomination Tracker right now.
Furiey Apr 24, 2005, 12:20 PM Strider, please could you clarify your clarification.
when you say nominations end April 25th, etc what time and in what time zone do you mean.
eg: the Presidential nomination thread was posted on 22 April at 11:27 PM (23:27) GMT, does this mean that nominations end 25 April at 11:27PM GMT and elections end 28 April at 11:27 PM GMT?
I've missed nominations closing before, I don't want to do it again.
Ginger_Ale Apr 24, 2005, 12:27 PM Nominations went up around 12:00 am April 23rd. Therefore, they end in 3 days from then, or April 25th at 11:59pm. Elections will go up April 26th at 12:00am and end April 28th at 11:59pm, allowing for 3 days of elections.
Hope that helps you. For example, nomination period ends in about 1 day and 6 hours.
Furiey Apr 24, 2005, 12:33 PM Assuming you're talking GMT then it ties in with what I posted above, but without specifying GMT it could be anywhere in a 24 hour period.

It's going to be more along the lines of April 25th 4:00 P.M. (Central US/Canada or -6 GMT). Elections will start, and nominations will close at about that time.
Furiey Apr 24, 2005, 03:04 PM Thank you Strider, that's about 10:00PM (22:00) GMT, so I'll have time to get back from work tomorrow :D

If you don't mind me asking, why don't you just go on and accept whatever poistion you want to right now?
Furiey Apr 24, 2005, 03:11 PM I've got to check my diary at work tomorrow and try and find out what's in store for the coming month. I don't want to accept now and find out they've got me lined up to work away for a few weeks (in which case I'll be Civ-less & internet-less) and just not got around to telling me yet.
Strider Apr 25, 2005, 04:03 PM Reference Post:
At the time of this post, all nominations have been officially closed. Any changes from this point on will not be accepted by the Election Office.
CivGeneral May 19, 2005, 12:13 AM Just a little reminder that the Elections are around the corner :).
RegentMan May 24, 2005, 08:51 AM I'm not too sure whether or not you're still doing the elections for this term Strider, but nominations should be going up anytime.
CivGeneral May 24, 2005, 02:10 PM I wish I could help, but I would still be in karate class at 7:00pm EDT. Unless we are going by the GMT, in witch it would fall on 8:00pm EDT in witch I would be able to help.
Ginger_Ale May 24, 2005, 03:17 PM We have always gone my GMT. 8pm EDT, midnight GMT.
They go up tonight if Strider doesn't put them up.
Strider May 24, 2005, 04:05 PM I'm putting them up after I enjoy my supper. Relax guys.
Black_Hole May 24, 2005, 05:11 PM Actually nominations are a day late, there are 31 days in May

They should have been up May 24 at Midnight GMT, but they are getting put up May 25 at Midnight GMT....
CivGeneral May 24, 2005, 05:14 PM CivGeneral uses the calculator in his cyberbrain to calculate the days
By golly the Public Defender is right.
Ginger_Ale May 24, 2005, 05:41 PM What're we gonna do, CC someone?
We still have the: (all GMT) 25th, 26th, and 27th for nominations. And then the 28th, 29th, 30th for elections. 3 days for each, and 1 day for rest.
1 day prior to the end of the month is the 31st. The end of the month is 11:59:59 PM, on the 31st. So in reality the 25th, @ 00:00:00 is seven days before the end of the month. 26th is 6 days before. 27th is 5 days. 28th is 4. 29th is 3. 30th is 2. 31st is 1 day (24 hours) before the end of the month.
Nominations are being done right on schedule.
Strider May 24, 2005, 05:50 PM Actually nominations are a day late, there are 31 days in May
31 - 7 = 24
They should have been up May 24 at Midnight GMT, but they are getting put up May 25 at Midnight GMT....
The Article of Elections hasn't been updated from the start of the game. Shortly after the game started I put together an amendment (that passed) that made it 8 days before the end of the month, but didn't mention any certain timeframe within that 8 day for the posting.
Black_Hole May 24, 2005, 07:51 PM the 8th day was the day before yesterday....
greekguy Jun 20, 2005, 11:52 AM Since i'll be gone during the nomination period, i would like to self-nominate and accept for External Consul. i'll take any debate questions until i leave on the 24th.
btw, could someone please run against me this time. i'm really getting tired of winning uncontested races.
RegentMan Jun 23, 2005, 02:58 PM Can the date and time that nominations and elections close be posted in their threads?
Strider Jun 23, 2005, 05:57 PM Can the date and time that nominations and elections close be posted in their threads?
Nominations close the 26th of this month.
Elections end the 29th of this month.
That gives all the new leaders one day before the new term to get there affairs in order (the 30th). As for a more exact time than that, I can't give it to you. Things happen, and I can't make any guarantees for an exact time. So I'm not going to.
RegentMan Jun 24, 2005, 02:23 AM Nominations close the 26th of this month.
Elections end the 29th of this month.
That's all I wanted. Thank you.
