View Full Version : Reducing corruption for the computer with editor.
prospekt Mar 10, 2005, 08:08 PM Hi, I have a simple question, I like to play without corruption, so I use the editor to reduce it to 0%. However, I found out recently that this only affect me and not the computers. So I want to know if I can also reduce their corruption.
Thanks in advance,
Bungus Mar 10, 2005, 10:28 PM Corruption is a vital component of the gameplay, but if that's what you want, you can change each change each governments' corruption to "None" in the governments tab in the editor.
WildWeazel Mar 11, 2005, 08:47 AM I've heard that "none" doesn't work. You may have to use minimal and increase the optimal number of cities (I think this will reduce it more).
Bungus Mar 11, 2005, 02:07 PM hmm none doesn't work? I recall hearing something about that, but I assumed it was nunsense. Never tried no corruption gov tho.
If that's the case, what weasel op suggested is the best available alternative.

"None" doesn't work -- perversely, though, NOT having a Palace IIRC effectively reduces corruption to none ...

WildWeazel Mar 11, 2005, 05:02 PM Testing time.... back in 5 minutes. :D
edit: OK, how exactly do you not have a palace? Whenever I abandon the capital the palace pops up in the next city and I can't sell it.
edit 2: To answer my own question, uncheck the "center of empire" flag on the improvements page. And no, this does not stop corruption. In fact it didn't affect it at all (although this was a tiny map with cramped cities). But nice try, Oz.

When you say "didn't affect it" you mean corruption was the same with and without a palace  Perhaps on a larger map ... I'll try to find the thread where this was discussed ...

WildWeazel Mar 11, 2005, 10:07 PM Yes, it was exactly the same. I know map size affects corruption, but on a map that small with only 4 cities, there was still around 30% corruption in the farthest city (about 4 tiles away :) ) with or without a palace.
Bjornlo Mar 11, 2005, 11:32 PM Why not just use the slider to reduce corruption?
It is under the "Difficulty Levels" tab in the editor. AFAIK, this should affect the computer player as well as you.
prospekt Mar 12, 2005, 10:05 PM Reducing the corruption level in "Difficulty Levels" will only reduce it for you, that's why I posted this thread. I found that recently while spying cities of my opponments.
Sir Donald III Mar 12, 2005, 11:45 PM Did you reduce it to 0% in all levels?
If so, then disregard what follows here:
Try reducing the corruption in the dificulty level that the computer uses. This level is under the General Settings tab: Art. Intel, Default Difficulty.
(As a test, reduce the "Regent" corruption level to 80%, or even 50%, since Regent is the default in that AI-DD Tab, and see what happens. Use Debug Mode for quick test results.)
