I just got the game. and I must say it's fantastic. Other then the fact that i cant offord anything really good, its going great. and though I havent tried it yet the level creator seems like a really good idea. one thing I dont like is that all the zombies and goblins and other monsters you face look alike. Cant wait to get online.

Definitely a classic. 100+ hours and it never gets too tedious. Your finanical problems should all go away in chapter 2, and while the models for each creature don't vary much, you do face a wide variety of baddies later on.

Good community (http://nwn.bioware.com/forums/index.html) too.

I never went online, but I tried some of the user-created modules, and some were very well developed.

Very good game. I really have to get back to playing it one of these days, but I'm a little occupied with Morrowind at the moment.

I lent my copy to my brother back around Thanksgiving, and I've been jonesing for it since about Christmas. Of course, I could probably find a copy of the original game w/o expansions somewhere around town for about $10 . . .

OTH, it is a major time-sucker.

Yeah. I stayed up until 2 am yesterday playing it. I got it at Half-Price Books for $10. Yeah my money troubles are pretty much over.

Don't forget to pick up the add-ons 'Shadows of Undrentide' and 'Hordes of the Underdark' as well. ;)

I will eventually. What do they add on though?

New character classes (prestige classes, to be exact), feats, spells, monsters... And two campaigns. The HotU campaign is, IMO, better than the original.

Just picked up the game myself, seems MASSIVE. having problems figuring out the online play though. everyone seems to have a pass word. anyone up for sorting out a CIV3 community for the game? If we're all newbies we can all get lost together :D

I got into it right away because 1. I have the player manual and DM Guide for 3.5 and 2. Ive read ALOT of Forgotten Realms Books. I suggest you force your friends to buy it so you can play together.

The expansions are a must... not to mention some great modules out there require them both.

Don't forget to download fan-created modules from NWVault... many of those in the Hall of Fame are great. I especially like Elegia Eternum and its sequel, and the Ultima remake is good too.
