I started this awhile ago and with the Halo Wars and Halo 3 and Halo 2 Vista coming out I remembered it. Most of what I have now is borrowed from other MODs, but is suitable. I would however really like it if any unit creators could point out available units or make some original ones. Anyone good with graphics could certainly help with techs and buildings. Also sombody who is good at map making is needed to make a suitable map for possible campaigns.

Just noticed the other Halo mod idea and this wouldn't be a ripoff of the campaign this would just use the units and buildings to make something like it. I would also make a campaign though with the Flood against everyone, heritics against covenant, and humans against all except heretics and maybe an aliance between the heritics and the humans

You'd probably be better off working with civilizationisme on a Halo mod, since I don't foresee there being so much 'creative disagreement' that two mods are necessary.
Halo units would most likely be useful for other scifi mods, as well, unit-makers...There is at least a Mars mod and my own mod that could probably apply such units.

I have started thinking of how to do a good map for this mod. It would be something like ringworls that chizzy made but on bothe diagnol sides would have space as ocean. Otherwise I need ideas from yall.

Instead of using a map like Bluemofia's you can make a long thin map with X- and Y-wrapping. The minimap won't look like a halo but the map will work like one. BTW in HALO is the outside of the world habitable too?

How about don't you make hunter able to bombard and the attack B is the whacking with the shield. And mabey you could make orbital drop troopers be a little better than the marines. The technnicians could be the human workers and have low defence, the covenant workers or engieneers have no defence cause all they do is fix and build. The flood should have no workers and the infection forms are able to enslave to warrior forms. The carrier forms should be cruise missile units. But one question. What does the prophet do?

It's suposed to be an orbital drop shock trooper and suppolidly better than the marines and the marines shouldn't be able to paradrop and we have to make ODSTs able to paradrop and the Master Chief. And with that we have to make a drop pod both for humans and covanant and it has to cost very little. I also suggest that you make the elites have plasma rifles and have honor guards, gold elites, and black elites have energy swords. The special ops elites should have carbines and the special ops grunts should have fuel rod cannons. And you forgot the drones that have plasma pistols.

Could I see the tech tree?

What sizes are needed for these things? Can they be saved in a different format besides .jpg? If you can do them as a .png they will be much clearer.

Pedia icons are 128x128 and 32x32, .pcx format.

BTW for the human units we'll propably have to have multi units for marines and ODSTs. For the covanant the multi unites should be the grunts, the jackles, and the drones.

well at least it would be more reallistic because jackles usually travel in fours, grunts, marines, and ODSTs are in squads.

Oh yeah, and for everyone that thinks it is stupid to base a mod on a first-person shooter ... this mod is only based on it some aspects like a few of the units. It wont be the same missions or any thing like that just the units and some of the tech tree and buildings.

would there be another programs to use with GIMP and FLICster. I figured out how to make my own units now, but the way im doing it is taking to ling for it to be useful. Any suggestions?

You need a good 3d animation program to make the actual animations, and then use GIMP and FLICster (or Civ3FLC) to turn it into a FLC. Some good ones are POV-Ray (free, text-based), Blender (free, hard to learn), OpenFX (not free), and a few others that are used here.

People don't seem to like to post in preview or brainstorm threads unless they see new graphics or charts or whatnot smattered throughout it. You should try your hand at making more static graphics for this mod and posting them here. I'd offer to help, but the idea doesn't appeal to me. If you can give me some tech names/buildings or the like that would apply to other sci-fi mods which haven't already been done, I'll try to stick em in me next icon pack.

Just remember that everything you do, you primarily do for your own pleasure(out of lack seeing it done by others), and give it as much time as you think.
Ususally people don't flock right away in any mod, it's progressive. At times it will feel nothing is being done.

Keep it open so people who just found out about it and might want to help can. Might help if you post on Halo related boards. People from there might want to offer some help here. Also try to have not too many expectations.
The point is for the mod to become, not to be the best ever.(Even if so, this will be till the next super mod comes).

There are some excellent graphic creators here.
You could always go and ask them to do the graphics, they might agree to help. Even if you get one graphic from each one it's a gain.

I have so much to do myself on other projects and so limited time, I can't really help. But others might be more available. Also, see what you can get from released mods, as in loan(with credit of course). I find it stupid to work on something that's 80% similar to what yuo want just to get the added originality.

In any case that's a modding community's purpose, in my mind, to help eachother(but not be overtly demanding).

Instead of making the Index a Wonder, you could make it a flag unit that you have to try to capture it and take it back to your capital. But then I guess you won't have as many wonders..

how about having the mausoleum of the arbiter as a wonder for the Covenant, and it produces an arbiter unit every x turns that you cannot build. the human equivilant could be the Spartan II Training program or something, that produces Master Chiefs every x turns. both units would be the best troops in their own armies, and have special abilities and extra HP and so on

you could also have jackal snipers (armed with a particle beam rifle, stealth attack, able to bombard, lethal land bombardment) and elites with plasma rifles or covenant carbines, then being upgraded to sword-wielding elites or something.

just one question: you're not planning for plasma to be the only resource, are you? coz i know that if plasma is all that was required, i'd always build elites, brutes and hunters, and never worry about building grunts and jackals

Hey guys, I started this MOD awhile ago and then just stopped. I still have all the files, but have lost my Conquest CD. I do want to revive this MOD and can work on it but will need other people to test it, until I get a new copy. ATM the first post really sums up what I have now. This MOD is not using any original units as of yet, but some of the units we have found will work pretty well.
