View Full Version : creating scenario - no units appear

Sorry if I'm not posting in the right place here, but the creation and customization seemed to be for finished products only...

I also apologize if the answer to this is glaringly obvious...

I was creating a scenario based off of Marla Singer's world map. I created several new civs and was making it less Euro-centric and used more modern countries. I added Brazil, Argentina, Canada, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Australia, Sudan, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, and Pakistan. This adds more competition in the Americas and puts the conflict more in Asia. Also I edited the American cities, because where the hell Spokane is I'll never know, but I definately feel that some of those obscure cities could be better suited if replaced with better known ones like Indianapolis.

At any rate... so I created all my civs and placed them gave them all a couple starting techs, and when I went to test it... to my dismay, I can't build any units! No settlers, no workers, no nothing. My only options were "barracks and wealth". Now I know settlers and workers don't require any tech, they are just there, so why are they not showing?

This is my first time doing this so I may have done some stupid blunder. Also I am using vanilla Civ III. I'm biding my time with the upgrade to conquests. (ie, I'm a poor college students and don't have the $20 right now)

Much thanks for any advice, and I can move this thread to another place if need be.

Thanks!

J

Thread moved to C&C.

The main Creation & Customization subforum is for questions and whatnot. The sub forums off of it are for finished products. :)

When you look at the units tab in the editor there is a part called 'available to' if you have changed the civs you probably have to select them there.

I don't know the vanilla editor very well, but I think you will be able to find it.

cheers,
Peter

You are right! Thank you. But how annoying... I have to do this for every unit! I mean I can see why since some units are specialized, this will take a while though.

I don't recall exactly, but I think you can use CTRL + SHIFT to more quickly fill in the civs to whom the units are available. It certainly works for other options on the editor (with the notable exception of the Stealth target list!). Just click on the top civ to highlight it, then go to the bottom of the list and use CTRL + SHIFT + Click on the last civ to select every civ between the top and bottom. To then deselect individual civs, you can easily use CTRL + Click.

Just SHIFT + click is enough (instead of CTRL + SHIFT + click), but it's still a lot of work.

Yeah thanks, I was doing the ctrl thing, but it is still time consuming. Thanks for the hint though.
