I'm very new to the game and was wondering: Once a tile is mined, do I have to keep mining it to produce yields or not?

if it is mined, it is mined :D

Go and send your workers out doing other jobs.


But remember, one citizen of the nearby city has to be send to the mine to earn the shields. Adjust that in the city management window by clicking on the tiles or the head of the citizen. Play a little with this function so you will see what benefits else you can achieve.

Ok- one more thing- Am I correct in assuming that pretty much any resource; dyes, cattle, wheat, mines, etc, I should build a road to all those things?

Any tile with a road build on it brings you cash. So built roads roads roads ;)

And - indeed - any tile with a resource like iron or dyes or whatever needs to have a road. If such tile would not have a road, you would not be able to get the benefit of this resource.

A resource also has to be within your cultural boundaries, or else you have to build a colony on top of it.
