Bump this close and important race.

Question 1. Do you consider a surrounding cultural war of extended Dutch cities to a bloody war (Groningen, Hague)?

Question 2. Do you consider expanding on the coast as well as inland ?

Question 3. Will you back up cultural builds, both improvements and wonders polled and backed from term one into term 2?

Q1: While a cultural war will help us have more territory to get to their cities quicker, I don't think it will cause any cities to flip. The AI on Emperor can build cultural improvements lightning quick, so it won't do as much good as a real war.

Q2: While the coast will give us an extra commerce in the city center, inland cities are good footholds, and also have a chance of resources appearing. Cities inland first, then by the sea once land inland runs out.

Q3: I will back up limited cultural builds. I think we're better off building 2 Swords instead of 1 Temple, but in some special cases, it might work. Of course, it depends on what the WOTP want.

Question 1. Do you consider a surrounding cultural war of extended Dutch cities to a bloody war (Groningen, Hague)? If we build a lot of culture there is a mathematical possibility that we could culture flip a Dutch city or two. But I think it's highly unlikely that we would. If we want to take Groningen and The Hague, we're going to have to take them by military action.
Question 2. Do you consider expanding on the coast as well as inland?Of course we should expand along the coast. We are, after all, a seafaring civilization, so harbors and other maritime improvements are a cheap build for us. So it's to our benefit to build along the coast. That does not mean we should neglect expanding inland as well.

Question 3. Will you back up cultural builds, both improvements and wonders polled and backed from term one into term 2?We need to build cultural improvements and wonders, if for no other reason than India is a religious civ and so can build cheap temples, so any of our cities bordering the Indians are candidates for culture flips unless we build up our own culture. However, at least one war looms in the near future, so cultural builds may have to be delayed for military builds.

1. While I won't say I'm "better" than the other candidate, though we both have the same basic ideas, I have experience in the governor's office and am used to adapting to other's comments.

2. Perhaps, depending on the wonder and city. Being this map a pangea, or what looks to be like one, I don't think the Great Lighthouse is necessary. Right now, I would rather spend the 300+ shields on units to expand our empire via force and capture wonders as we go. There is no way we can afford to build wonders with a 6-8 city empire, and successfully pull off wars that we need to win the game.

3. If we know which country we will attack, and which cities we are guaranteed to take, yes. We have to plan for what life will be like after the war.

RegentMan, have fun voting.

Hmm -- a tie with just hours remaining!

Perhaps the candidates should write a bit more on their positions to build up some information to help the people decide, if its still tied and there is a runoff... ;)

Maybe the candidates can agree to share the position. The can both lead stratgic discussions on different areas. There is reallly very little that needs to be posted in the TCIT so it doesn't even matter there.

If I win this election, I will offer to make GA my deputy. If he wins and makes the same offer to me, I would be happy to accept the position.

Of course I would - to me, there is no point in not giving the deputy to the runner up.

I've pulled ahead, but by only one...
