I have a DVD drive on my comp, but I was wondering if I could put a blank DVD in the CD drive and burn a movie. Is that possible?

No, your supposed to have a burning DVD drive in order to do so. Regular CD burning drives won't do it.

No, you need a DVD writing or re-writing drive.

Sure throw 'em both in a fire!

I've also heard about this rubbish, it isn't possible, CD writers just aren't designed for DVD writing!
