Please vote for only ONE (1) per region (ie; one by the Indian border, and one in the tundra, unless you vote for dark red AND dark green - the ones to the north you can vote for any or all of them, as they aren't clumped together.

Poll lasts for two days, public, multi choice.

Discussion is here. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=115663)

I want the brown one north of Groningen except one tile north of the spot there so that we can get the cattle.

How do you plan to interpret the results of this poll? Is there a runoff structure planned? My preference would be for starting with planning for how many new cities to be built and priorities for general directions, and then having the Director of Expansion handle specific sites.

For me, the consul should decide on settlement density and prioritise direction and rate of settlement. The director should then create a number of dotmaps based on this an poll them.

We cannot seriously consider polling every single site can we?

I abstained.

I'm still trying to get to grips with the new structure, but shouldn't the Consul just plan the strategy eg: do we want to fill in and settle around the Dutch/Indians with the Tactical Director polling specific sites to achieve this strategy? Perhaps even the example I give is too specific/short term for the Consul and should come under Tactical.

Ah, welcome to the Demogame. If there's one thing more fun than actually playing the game, it's polling the game!

(...and yes, we do seem to be considering polling every site. That's what we did last game) ;)

While in a perfect world that would work marvelously, sorry, we're not there yet. I do have a deadline; also, there aren't *that* many places left to settle, so this does work; if it were the beginning of the game, your idea would be ideal. This is what happened last year, and this is my first term in the position, so I'm following in others' footsteps.

Please note you ARE free to make your own dotmap, vote for other, and present it here if you wish.

Sorry for the confusion from last term. I had presented the dotmap and discussion co-sponsored by Expansion and Domestic. I then posted the instructions for settlement as the Director of Expansion had not been online for 3 days and the turn chat was looming. If the Director of Expansion puts his stamp of approval on this then its good to go.

BTW, I voted OTHER. I still want to settle the Hill north of the Iron between Rotterdam and the Hague. The flip risk in this location is similiar to that of every other location except for the Tundra villages.

I will create a more specific poll with the winners of each region after this is finished. I will probably look back to this poll in the future as well.

Abstain - what's a consul doing polling specific sites? That's the director's task!

Consul should be working on the strategy, not the details! What's our overall settlement plan?

For our next settler I suggest the green tile between Bentley & Roosting tree near the Indian border. This has the potential to be an immediately productive city, and we need production now, IMO.

For this reason I'd eliminate the tundra spots until later; they are basically fishing villages, & under the Conquests city ranking system wouldn't it be a disadvantage to settle them too soon? Or is that not an issue?

For our second settler I'd either take the northern spot close to the iron or more likely the pink/purple spot close to Groningen, but I'd settle one tile south. There would be little corruption in the Groningen spot, and more production. At the moment production is king.

I do hope we're not going to poll each settlement site; remember, we're going to need at least 100 cities (though we'll capture many). That's a lot of polling. I'd prefer we be presented with a general plan and vote that up or down on its merits, and let our officials micromanage exact settlement locations.

Sorry, sorry, getting used to this new government. There is too much overlap between expansion, domestic, and governors for my liking.

Hope snipelfritz can use this poll to his advantage, repoll or use the winners of this for a new poll snipel.
