I always thought they would, but in the recent cotm11, they don't. Is it a general feature in c3c or is a cotm-specific? I am thankfull for any answer but "my sister inlaw heard from one of her college mates that..." - thanks! :)

No they don't. Neither in COTM nor C3C in general. I discovered this in COTM4, and have seen it discussed since in a few places.

You're telling me. I would have been close to beating SirPleb's date had they doubled. Instead, I was 15 turns after him. Of course, someone else used the tactic, I believe, so I may have still missed the award.

I presume the same goes for research labs from the internet (if you can get those to last 1000 years! :D)

1000 years - it is unfair, should be turns. What if I built it at 2000BC? Does it mean that I will loose it in 1000BC?

You won't lose the temples after 1000 years. The temples are lost when Education comes. But if you don't research Eduction, the culture from the temples will be 2 per turn for ever, and never 4.

Uff, then it is Ok, any free culture is good. 2 or 4 does not matter unless you go for 1000K, I guess.

1000k=1,000,000 culture. Wow! I would like to see someone attempt that before 2050! :)

For what it's worth: cities with Temples in them prior to building ToA DO double after 1000 years (100% sure), and those temples are still there after Education is learned (hmm, that's my recollection.)

It's an odd thing: you can build Cathedrals after having ToA, then when the free temples go away you still have a Cathedral, but can build a Temple, too.

Temples do stick around if handbuilt. The cathedral thing is weird, but kind of nice.

Well, do the cathedrals actually have any effect though? It might show the 3 contents in the improvements window but not actually make anyone content (sorta like if you get Hoover's before Factories).

The cathedrals will stick around and give their effects still.
It's the same when in some cases when you have sixtine, and build temple and cathedral, and then sell the temple to save maintainance, while still getting 6 content faces from the cathedrals.
Cathedrals just require temples to be built, not for them to work
