View Full Version : Prosped Rule Changes
CornMaster Dec 10, 2001, 02:06 PM Please discuss this issue BEFORE voting. (I know...oppsite of the rules I laid down for other polls) And if you have a better suggestion we may need to post a new poll. During these discussions game play is suspended. (National Emerengcy. ;))
Article A
Turn rate stays at one turn per day.
Deputy leaders can take control as soon as they come to the forum (assuming the Department Leaders hasn't already posted)
Article B
Turn rate changes to one turn per two days.
Deputy leaders can take control on day two of the turn if the Department leader hasn't posted.
This will also allow more participation all around the world.
Sixchan Dec 10, 2001, 02:24 PM I agree with article A until we get more cities and/or members.
If the Leader is online for half the time, and the deputy is online for the other half, the the department will always be ready, and this will allow for some unexpected absences of the leaders.
Pggar Dec 10, 2001, 03:07 PM I agree with 6chan. Also 1turn/2 days (edit) would double the extention of the game. Imagine a 3 to 4 years game!!!
TheDuckOfFlanders Dec 10, 2001, 03:31 PM edit: read next post.
TheDuckOfFlanders Dec 10, 2001, 03:32 PM I voted on option A ,for the reason Pggar already stated.
I agree with 6chan. Also 1turn/day would double the extention of the game. Imagine a 3 to 4 years game!!!
i also tottaly agree on this:
Deputy leaders can take control as soon as they come to the forum (assuming the Department Leaders hasn't already posted)
I also started this thread:
Turn & poll notification's by e-mail (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11687)
Please everybody reply on this ,because it's important. Please do this within the next two days.
Player's then schould keep their mail open for update's ,so they are always warned on the spot when a new issue get's up.
i also decided on a general game playing time.the game's following turn will be played every (1 or 2) days on this hour:
21.00 Gmt
Since we are mostly European and American player ,this should be i guess the best hour.
I think it must be possible to handle everything in one day. :)
knowltok Dec 10, 2001, 04:20 PM I concur. With the above. We will move way to slow if we do two days per turn. Maybe at some poin in the future, but right now we just need to get going. I can see special cases for Holidays such as christmas if most of the players won't be available, but in normal circumstances we just need to keep moving.
Knight-Dragon Dec 10, 2001, 09:44 PM I think the rule shld be somewhere in betw Article A and B. E.g. during 'normal' turns when nothing of note is expected to happen, we can have it at once per day but in special emergency cases (like war :D), we shld have a turn per two days so that we can have more participation. I don't expect any of us can log in day after day to participate. Maybe the President can declare a sort of national emergency and then drag out the game to one turn per two days or something depending on his judgement. Whereas for normal days, we can have Article A in place.
Point is let's keep our options flexible instead of setting it in stone.
dreadhead7 Dec 11, 2001, 08:12 AM I think we need to keep this flexible, otherwise I can see myself getting jacked every day. I'll be coming on in the afternoons and evenings, and if my Deputy comes on in the morning and has already posted by the time I get on, it will appear that I'm not doing my job. Why don't we keep the portion of A that says a game turn lasts one day, and keep the portion of B that says the Deputy will post on the second day if the Head hasn't posted.
I thought I'd give my 2 cents, as it appears that this poll is still open.
allan Dec 11, 2001, 10:46 AM What will we be doing the first 20 turns or so of the game, while we're waiting for the first warrior and settler to be built?
I propose that that period (at least until the first warrior is built) be counted as one turn....
[EDIT: Uh, belay my last.... I now see we have begun this game, and we have a horseman to do things with. I guess I'll vote proposal A in peacetime, B in wartime.)

I propose that that period (at least until the first warrior is built) be counted as one turn.... We have already popped a goody hut and got a horsemen I think. So we'll spend that time polling on which way to move the unit. ;) Also which tech to research, tax/science rate, location of capital etc etc I expect.
spycatcher34 Dec 11, 2001, 06:56 PM Although A is going to win I am the prime case for the B example.
During the week Im not avialbe until after three, and thats only usally two of the days. I think we need a compromise and wait until like say at night (im in central time btw). This just isnt working too well for me. Right now the only way it would is if i spent 5hrs a day here.:(
amadeus Dec 11, 2001, 08:15 PM I was wondering...what about having a break for holidays and stuff?
adamsj Dec 12, 2001, 11:29 AM Go for system 1, it is only way to get this game going!
Sixchan Dec 12, 2001, 11:42 AM Dread, can you get on before 21:00GMT? Since this is when the turn is made, I was thinking that I would only post on matters on that turn as science minister just before the turn is played. That way, you will have the maximum possible time to post as science minister.
Also, from now on, since advances take a little while, you should have time to post research goal polls. I suggest 5 days to keep it open, leaving time left over to decide, and giving everyone a chance to vote.
dreadhead7 Dec 12, 2001, 01:16 PM Six, that is a good idea. Is that about 1 or 2pm MST? I can do it every day except Thursdays and Sundays. I was also thinking: When I create new polls, will you take care of posting links to it in the General info thread? I'm terrible at creating links, and I'll probably mess it up if I tried.
