Last night I took from my shelves good ol' C&C Gold. Oh boy it was all covered dust and brought so many good memories and so many frustrated hours with this game. So I decided to install and check out if it would work.

The game worked nicely with XP and it was so much fun to play old RTS game. If you have played C&C you know all those great videos and good story through game. Allmost more enjoyable than Generals.

So have you recently brought good memories playing old games what they look liked compared to this days games?

If you have XP, it will work with little effort. This Tomoyo's thread might be useful Getting old games to work (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=116798)

Operation Flashpoint, for the SP campaign missions when it first came out 4 years ago, the other 2 SP campaigns that came later, the missions I made myself and finally, after upgrading my internet connection last year, the many different MP games available (CTI variants being the best).

As long as you fully upgrade the game & download the "essential" 3rd party addons, Operation Flashpoint is simply the greatest game that has been released, in both single player & multiplayer.

Civ I - A fresh original concept that only heightened my interest in the game as I got older and understood the deeper points in the gameplay.

Warcraft II - I didn't miss a beat when I played my buddy 2 weeks ago in a one on one game. It's fast, furious, and most importantly, lighthearted and funny.

Original C&C- This was the first game I really played online day and night. I remember I'd wake up....game...eat lunch...game....eat dinner...game...and not sleep.

Lords of the Realm II - A perfect blend of RTS and stragic gameplay. If only this game had a working multiplayer and a few more patches I would still be playing it.

North & South - This really invokes childhood memories. Its was really the only NES game that was worth it's $50 pricetag in 1990.

Axis & Allies (Board Game) - It's no accident that three PC spinoffs have been snspired by this game. IF you could find someone to play with, its was certainly more worthwhile than any PC game to date.

Planescape: Torment. Mostly because of its immersing storyline (the best ever), interesting fleshed out characters(PC and NPCs) alike, witty dialogues( read my sig). Too bad it is underated for a long time, and the sales was good, but not great.

Fallout: In the years after a nuclear fallout, You play as a character who goes outside of a bunker(?) to search for EDEN( a tool?) to terraform your community. After countless quest, fighting and saving people, you are back to your community with the EDEN kit but was banished due to the fact that you have been "out" there for too long, leaving you to wander the lands- ALONE.

I still have my old computer but I gave away its monitor :(
Was running dos/windows 3.11 :)
I still have ufo: enemy unknown and warcraft 1 somewhere but now I can't play it

Just curious ...
... has anyone played King Arthur's World on SNES? It was like a Lemmings game with a twist :)

Some of the old games I miss the most:
-champions of krynn, death knights of krynn, dark queen of krynn (I think I still have those giant plastic floppy disks somewhere) :)

-pitfall (played on a friend's commodore 64)

-zelda titles (nes/snes/n64/gameboy)
-metroid titles (nes/snes/gameboy)
-space invaders, looping & donkey kong (colecovision) :)

-d&d: tower of doom, d&d: shadows of mystara & all the street fighter incarnations (coin-ops/arcades) :)

Shame I never got to play pac-man
I got a taste of galaga a while back (AU$0.20 per game hehe). I think it was on a family vacation some time ago :p

Oh man. What can I say about CIV I. I was very young and my english was terrible so I had to understand the thing from the symbols.First I have tried it and didn't understand anything about the game. Next time I played with one friend and he touch some of those icons, so one strange militia appears blanking. He manged to move it and soon we found another militia so he moved it toward it and vow, we lost our militia. I asked him to give the conntrole to me so perhaps I could kill the miltia easier. Well I produced many militia and soon I found how the menue for producing the units works. I produced many militia and could expand a lot. I had 5 cities. I still remeber. I keep producing militia to have a huge army, well it was a little hard to move all of them but it was fun. Soon I found some starnge units so I went to kick some ass but I lost all my militai for a couple of canons, so I had my ass kicked hard. So I hold my big army in my cities. Later, two other civs started to attack my cities They finishes all my greate militia and took my cities. I was left with two cities and could see how hard other civs were fighting hard to get my old lost cities. They owned my cities every other turn, well not very intersting situation to be proud of it. Later I saw some other strange, units, namely Armore and bomber and they clean me from the bord in a couple of turns. Excelent job. So because of my poor english I decided to touch every menu and wait to see what would happen. I rember that I used to wait very long for one of those huge units which have never appear on the board. Latter I realized that they are structures or the wonders. It almost took 6 monthes from me to learn all concepts of the game. Well that was the moment that I almost lost most part of my interest, because there was nothing more to discover...

I also have very good memories of WAR CRAFT I and II. I used to play it one against two other persons. MY friends just wondering about speed of clicking the mouse, using keyboard and moving around the board, making the right decision and... I could enjoy a lot from kicking asses of my friends with this game, so I invited my friends for a game everytime I lost a game in CIV. THat was a good compensation....

Well that is enough... Next time I will tell you another story.
