Well, the way I found out about this was that I was reading the Ask Sid section of their site and he mentioned that he still gets requests for SMAC2 and he's still willing to consider it. Then I sent my own mail to Ask Sid saying I agreed that he should do another SMAC. The next day (yesterday) I got a mail from the webmaster telling me to go and vote on this poll. Who knows? Seems funny that they'd bother to get me to vote if it were totally meaningless.

If you look at everything he says on that Q&A page, it sounds like his team is busy with other projects for the next little while, but I don't know how these guys work. Maybe he's got an intern ready to start brainstorming ideas on whichever game wins the survey. :groucho:

Seconded. I personally don't have much faith in Sid. Sure, he helped create the original Civilization, but had nothing to do with Civilization 2 or Alpha Centuari (my two favorite games). That was all Brian Reynolds. Hell, once he left, they made Civ 3 which turned out mediocre to say the least.

Yeah, there seems to be a race between SMAC and Colonization.

I have a feeling that some Colonization fan is spamming the poll, but perhaps not. The catch-up is rather huge for it to happen naturally.

Then we should get some SMAC fan to do the same!

Well, it's pretty easy to spam it. I cleaned my cookies and was able to vote a second time...

The bad news is that SMAC has 33% and Colonization 41%.

I've been spamming it pro-SMAC, because I can use many different computers on a network with different IPs.

I wouldn't counter-spam. I'd email the webmaster and wise them to the possibility so they can weed through the logs and make a rough guess at which side is being inflated. Not a perfect solution, but better than them throwing out the entire poll. Surely we don't think Firaxis people are not among us. :eek:

Well folks, I put my opinion in. But it looks like Colonization is catching up to our 39% so it could be a close race.

Alpha Centauri is my favorite game since years, it deserves a sequel only if it ends with a product as good as the one i play currently.
But, if the sequel is not up to the greatness of the current one , is "dumbed down" or has a bad AI a la Civilization 3, i don't need it.
