View Full Version : City overthrown then game crashes corvettebryan May 07, 2005, 05:43 PM I am currently playing PTW v1.27f, when I overthrow a city, by military force or culture, the game crashes. Any ideas? ainwood May 07, 2005, 06:55 PM Do you get any error messages at all? If not, post the file here (with instructions on how to see the crash), and I'll take a look at it. :) corvettebryan May 07, 2005, 09:21 PM No, there is no error message, the game just freezes. What file are you talking about? If it's the sav file I won't be able to post it; it's over 500kb. Turner May 07, 2005, 10:54 PM Use the Upload File function, found at the bottom of the page. That can be up to 3 megs. Also, doing Ctrl-S in game will automatically compress the file. It might be under .5mb then. corvettebryan May 08, 2005, 02:53 AM okay, file is in folders9, whatever that is. File name is "americas" or "americas1"...I Guess I loaded it twice ainwood May 08, 2005, 03:09 AM What needs to happen to initiate the crash? BTW - you can use "view uploads folder" to get the shortcut to the file. ainwood May 08, 2005, 03:19 AM OK - the problem is that you are playing a huge, huge world. When you capture a city, it has to do a LOT of internal calculations, and the number of calculations is exponentially proportional to the number of cities. My guess is that it hasn't frozen - its just taking a long time to update - especially with the game options set to eliminate a civ completely if they lose one city - it has to delete every city from that civ. On my PC (2 GHz, 512 MB RAM), it froze for about 2 minutes then came right. What are your machine specs? I suggest you stick to standard-size maps. BTW - hardly a challenge when you have modern armour against spears in 3952 BC, is it. ;) corvettebryan May 08, 2005, 03:19 AM take an opposing city via military force or cultural overthrow, when prompted, attempt to install a new governor. corvettebryan May 08, 2005, 03:25 AM I have a 2.8ghz processor running on 1Mb RAM. And as far as having modern armor in 3900bc goes, I just went into the civedit program and set the start date to 10000BC instead of the 4000BC. And as God as my witness, no cheats...yet. corvettebryan May 08, 2005, 03:54 AM well ainwood, I tried taking a city again, but the same thing happened, when I went to my windows task manager, it said the game was not responding. Turner May 08, 2005, 08:57 AM When the game takes that much time, it will come back as 'Not Responding'. Have you just let it sit? If so, for how long? Maybe you just need to let it sit longer. |
